Is the iWork App Suite free for new iO7 devices?

I have not seen anything specific about the iwork download for devices bought after Sept 2013.  Does anyone know?

Hello CarmelChaves,
It sounds like you would like to know if iWork would be free for a new purchase of an iOS 7 device. Take a look at this info:
* Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the Mac App Store for qualifying Mac computers purchased on or after October 1, 2013. OS X Mavericks required. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.

  • Why are the iWork apps not free FOR ME?

This might be a pretty old question, but lately I came to know that iWork apps were/are free for iOS 7 running devices, and my iPhone 4s which runs on iOS 7.1.2 and I activated it JUST 4 DAYS BEFORE SEPTEMBER 2013 (And many say, those who activated their iDevices after September 1st of 2013 are eligible to download iWork apps for free) is not able to get those apps for free. So is there any trick on refreshing/re-activating my account so that I get those apps (iPhoto, iMovie, Pages etc.) for free? Not being mean, but I feel so embarrassed for not activating my phone just after 4 days so that all those apps which I needed most would have been free (And ofcourse I did not know They would come for free if I had activated my phone afer 4 days ).

The offer for free iWorks apps is date dependent. If you purchased it prior to the eligible date, no, you are not entitled to them for free, and there is no trick to getting them. you will need to purchase them.

  • Apple said that the iWork will be free for everyone.

I have a new iPad mini bought on 20 August and iWork is still paid.(Just a dollar smaller). What's the problem. Can somebody tell it to me?

No, Apple did not say iWork will be free for everyone. The notes on the iPhone 5S tech page says:
iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated after September 1, 2013. See www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/ for iOS 7 compatible devices. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.
That means an iOS device activated for the first time after September 1. No way does that mean "everyone."

  • Why is IWork only free for new devices?

Will it ever be available on the App Store for free? Or do I have to buy a new device to get IWork? I really need these apps for school and I don't want to buy them if they are going to be free.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
These apps are free for new devices. If you already have the iPad, you have to purchase them. They are not very expensive, so you can purchase iTunes gift cards and use them to purchase the applications. There's no other solution, apart from buying a new iPad

  • IWork still not free for me.

Hello i've read other discussion mentioning how they got the apps for free. I followed their directions and it seems that mine under the free apps still says that it is 19.99. Is there anything else i can do? I've done a software update and I do have iWork on my phone and iPad but i would like it on my laptop. Please help. Thank you.

iWork and iLife for Mac come free with every new Mac purchase. Existing users running Mavericks can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store℠. iWork and iLife for iOS are available for free from the App Store℠ for any new device running iOS 7, and are also available as free updates for existing users. GarageBand for Mac and iOS are free for all OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 users. Additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available for a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 for each platform.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.

  • When you get the new iPhone 5S they say it come with al the iWork apps for free install already. But if i restore from back-up from an old device which doesnt have any iWork apps would I still receive those iWork Apps?

    Hey Davin12,
Yes. The apps are not pre-installed, but rather you are prompted to download them the first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7:
About Free Apple Apps for iOS 7 compatible devices
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5913
iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated or purchased after September 1, 2013
The first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7 on your qualifying new or factory refurbished iOS device, you will be offered iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers for free in addition to other free software from Apple. When you tap Download All and sign in with your Apple ID, the apps will be downloaded to your device and added to your store account. If you tap Not Now when you see the offer, you can go back to each of the apps in the store and download them one at a time for free.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I just purchased an iPhone 6 and got the iWork-apps for free. Shouldn't they be free for my MacBook now too?

I just purchased an iPhone 6 and got the iWork-apps for free.
I had the impression that I would get a free copy for my Mac too. Is this correct?

    Hi ..
Afraid not. Reason being, the apps that run on your iPhone are designed for iOS.
Apps that run on your Mac are designed for OS X.
    Two different operating systems.
Those apps must be purchased separately from the App Store on your Mac.

  • System keeps re-setting the default app to Preview for iWork files.

    Hello.
I've scoured the internet for a solution to this problem, but can't find one.  The problem applies to Numbers, Pages and Keynote, and I am putting this post in the forum for each.  I shall explain it using a Numbers file as an example.
For three or four years, I've had a file that was created in Numbers to be opened in Numbers; it's a spreadsheet that I update with every transaction of my bank account.
Until about a week ago, the file would always open in Numbers, its default application, and then the file kept opening in Preview instead of in Numbers.  I checked the 'Get Info' panel and found that its default application was Preview.  This was strange, so I changed it to Numbers.  When I opened the file the next day, it again opened in Preview, and I found again that Preview was set as its default app.  This time, I set Numbers as the default app by right-clicking on the file, selecting 'Open With', and Numbers wasn't on the list, so I went to 'Other...', and in the 'Choose Application' window, navigated to the Numbers app, selected it and activated the 'Always Open With' option.
As you would expect, the file then opens in Numbers.  However, whenever the computer has been off and I have logged in again, the default app for the file has reverted to Preview.
The only thing I can think of that might have a bearing on this problem is a recent App Store purchase.  I bought Numbers on an iWork '09 disk back in 2008/9, but about a week ago decided to uninstall the iWork apps with AppZapper and buy them from the App Store (I just like to have the App Store as the source of my apps, and I had some money to spare).  I can’t see why this would cause the problem, but the installation of these apps and the start of the problem seem to co-incide.
I wondered if the problem could be solved by re-creating my spreadsheet in a new Numbers file, so I opened Numbers, selected a blank worksheet and pasted the spreadsheet from the original file into this new one, but it made no difference: the next time I logged into my system, Preview was the default app for the new file as well.  The problem persists even with new files created in Numbers, Pages or Keynote that are unconnected with older files and after the App Store purchases.
I would be grateful for any advice the community can offer.
    Thank you.

    Hello again.
I followed your advice and created another user account, and in that one, Numbers, not Preview, was the default app for my Numbers file.  Logging back into my original account, I deleted the com.apple.LaunchServices.plist file, and for good measure, the com.apple.LaunchServices.plist.lockfile as well, and reset Numbers as the default app for my Numbers file.
I restarted the system, but found that Preview was now the default app for the file.  Perhaps the .plist file needed a second restarting of the system, so I set the default app for the file to Numbers again.  I also put Pages, Numbers and Keynote into a new folder called iWork '09, as they used to be before I replaced my shop-bought iWork disk installations with the same apps bought form the App Store.  I don't know if this made a difference.  I restarted the system and, this time, the default app was Numbers.
Pages and Keynote are also now the default apps for files created by them.
You have been very helpful and I appreciate it.  Thank you.

  • Why won't Numbers update free, when my other iWork apps have update for free?

why won't Numbers update free, when my other iWork apps have update for free?

I'm not sure if this answers your question. I will update them in iTunes. Then I will connect my phone and in the phone controls I can click the "Update" button and it will change to "Will Update" but doesn't.
That's part of the problem. Once upon a time, iTunes would just automatically update apps from the computer to the phone and now it apparently requires prompting that doesn't work.

OK, for the third time writing this this session, after setting up iCloud on my IPMini, how do I access the clod to use the iWork apps?

Note that you can not log into iCloud.com through the browser on an iOS device, only from a computer. If you want to use the iWork apps on your iOS device, you will need to purchase the apps from the app store if you don't qualify to get them for free.

  • Ive downloaded some apps onto my pc yet only 1 has synced to my ipad, it says something about theres a problem with my billing, yet I purchased the 1 app I got for $20, but 1 free app and another paid, wont sync, i di have money in my account

Right click on your iPad's name in the iTunes app on your computer and choose to transfer purchases. That should transfer anything that you have bought with the App Store app on the iPad to the iTunes app on your computer.

  • None of the iWork apps for iOS can open documents from Dropbox or Google Drive

Starting on version 2.5, all the iWork apps for iOS are supposed to be able to open files from any third-party storage provider like Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. Actually, this feature was mentioned in the Apple presentation by Craig Federighi. Box works as advertised, however Dropbox and Google drive fail to show in the storage providers list, even though they appear in the "Manage Storage Providers" list, where you activate/deactivate the function. The Box app, works really nice, you can open any file, make changes and save back to Box. Any ideas?

In all likelihood the issue isn't with any app specifically, but on the server side of those services that aren't working
I can see how that makes sense. Thanks.
It's still confusing, however, for a few reasons:
    1) many storage apps (e.g. One drive)don't show up at all in the chooser, so why are Box and Dropbox showing up there (you can toggle them on) but not working.
    2) Google Drive specifically listed in the last update that it could now open from and save to drive in other apps, but it doesn't work in iWork apps.
    3) Dropbox has implemented the chooser and it DOES work with google drive. So if the problem is that Google hasn't implemented something on their end, I still wonder why it actually does work in the dropbox app.

  • Have to repurchase all the iWork apps after upgraded to OS X Yosemite, how to fix it?

I have iWork (apps version09) after updated my laptop to OS X Yosemite, I can't update them further more for free. And I'm asked to purchase the new version of iWork apps, in order to open some documents that I received from others with the newest version. I just discovred that I supposed to update the apps before updating the laptop but there was no remainder under the apps update. How can I fix it without having to purchase all the iWork apps again?

  • Why isn't iWork apps not free yet after IOS7 update ?

Apple did say that IWork would be free, but it is not free as IMovie still has the original price, is it for certen devises or is there a problem on the store?

The advertisements leading up to the release of iOS 7 let me to believe that I work would be free for everybody. Apparently that is not the case. I was a little disappointed to find out but now it is only free for new devices activated after September 1 however upon looking at the reviews and how horrible they are I'm  not disappointed at all in fact you couldn't pay me to use iWork so thanks but no thanks Apple once again.
