I just bought a dell laptop with ms 8.1 and want to know if I download the latest version of firefox (not a beta version) will it run correctly with 8.1?

Yes, that shouldn't be a problem.

• Why is the latest version of Firefox not compatable with the Google toolbar? Will it ever be or do I need to switch back to Internet Explorer?

My Google toolbar was deleted when I downloaded the latest version of Firefox. It will not re-load because it is not compatible. Is this problem with Google or with Firefox? Will it be fixed soon, or will I have to go back to Internet Explorer?

• What is the latest version of Firefox that will work with Windows ME?

We were recently given an older Gateway laptop that we intend to use solely as an internet terminal. Alas, it is running Windows ME and I don't even know if it has all the specs to upgrade (and certainly not to Vista, which is the only thing we have an install disk for). It currently has Firefox 2.0.0.20, which of course contains numerous security vulnerabilities and is incompatible with most newer plugins. What is the best version of Firefox that will work with Windows ME, and is it still available for download? Thanks!

Hmm... guess this will be just an e-mail terminal, hardly anything else works cuz I can't update Flash! Thanks for your help.

• How to reconcile: "It is strongly recommended that you apply this update..." with "Unfortunately the latest version of Firefox isn't compatible ...."

"Firefox 3.6.22 It is strongly recommended ......"
Made to make the Web a better place
"Unfortunately the latest version ....."

Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
*Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

• When using Lotus Notes with the latest version of firefox notes will not allow me to attach files?

Uner firefox version I was able to attach muliple doc within my Lotus notes, after upgrading I now get an error message. Program error. What else can I do to fix the problem other than going back to the old version?

I only have an HSA account with USbank, and my screen looks fine.
If the website is okay, you can try goto options->advanced->network, and clear the web cache and try again.

• Why is the latest version of firefox no longer compatable with my BOUGHT & PAID FOR anti-virus?

My brand new computer came from the factory with Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security as an Anti-Virus. When its free trial ran out I BOUGHT & PAID for it for a YEAR. I liked you guys & used you as my only browser. Today Firefox updated & my anti-virus is no longer compatible. No Anti-Virus, NO BROWSING ON FIREFOX!!!!

Are you sure you're not referring to an extension that is included with the ant-virus program? Anti-virus programs work on the system level, so it shouldn't matter what version of Firefox you are using. Sometimes AV programs come with bells and whistles, like adding menus, options, or toolbars to certain programs. If that's the case, don't worry; your anti-virus program is still working fine with Firefox.
If you go to '''Help > Troubleshooting Information''' then click '''Copy all to Clipboard''', open a reply to this post, and go to '''Edit > Paste''' to paste the info from your Troubleshooting Information page, we should be able to see if you have any extensions installed on Firefox by an anti-virus program.

• Will it ever be possible to run the latest versions of firefox on my G4 with OS 10.5.6 or will I always be non compatible

Every time an update for firefox comes out it comes upnot compatible with your OS

Hi dumbum,
You might want to take a look at the [http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ tenfourfox] project. It's a fork of Firefox that supports PPC and older versions of Mac OSX.
Hopefully this helps!

• Where do I find and download the old version of Firefox that is compatible with my MAC Power PC G5, please?

Refer to Question 877611 for the full history of '''why''' I'm looking for the old version. Suffice it to say - I need to download the old Power PC version. You must have a copy of it somewhere for us dinosaurs who haven't succumbed to Intel. I was using 3.6.16. It worked fine. I want it back, please. Thank you.

-> Firefox 4 versions and later do not run on a PowerPC Mac.
* Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

-> IF you want to keep using Firefox 3.6.x, it can be found here:

-> For an unofficial Firefox 4 compatible version (TenFourFox) that runs on PowerPC Macs with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

• Which is the latest version of firefox for centos 5.6

Dear Sir/ Madam
We are using CentOS 5.5 and CentOS 5.6 on systems in our office.
Can you tell me which is the latest version of firefox that will work with such OS?
Also if you could provide the installation steps that would be great!
Regards
Nitin

You would have to check the System Requirements for GTK+ and GLib of later Firefox versions to see if you meet them in your Linux distribution.
They haven't changed according to the system-requirements pages, so if Firefox 17 works then 33 should work as well.

• My PowerBook-G4 operating system software - Mac OS X 10.5.8 - does not meet minimum requirements for downloading the latest version of FireFox ... is there an Update for a newer version of my op.sys. software, or, what is a better choice of an Upgrade?

my PowerBook-G4 operating system software - Mac OS X 10.5.8 - does not meet minimum requirements for downloading the latest version of FireFox ... is there an UpDate to a newer version of my op.sys. software, Or, what is a better choice of an UpGrade to a newer/different op.sys. software ?
Thanx!

The best maintained PowerPC browser at the moment is TenFourFox:
http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
It is a Mac port of a newer version of FF thatn any PowerPC Mac can support natively. It runs, looks and feel like FF.
I found some add-ons that helped TFF with speed issues. Pleae see my post in another PPC forum:

• I have windows 7 starter on my netbook and the latest version of Firefox seems to not do well. Ho do I get back to Firefox 4? Or is there another version/customizations that is better?

The latest version of Firefox tends to not agree with my windows 7 starter netbook. I get a lot of hangups and crashes. I would like to download Firefox 4 again but can't seem to find it on your site in order to download it. Do you have any other suggestions that would be a good fit for windows 7 starter?
Also, I keep getting messages saying that Firefox is causing high CPU and memory usage on my netbook.

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Version 3.6.18 would be a safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: If you don't have Firefox ask you before updating, you may need to set that to prevent an automatic update back to Firefox 5. Tools > Options > Advanced, Update mini-tab

• I get, You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web! When I go to the update site it tells me that I have the latest version.

I start the Firefox browser.
When the start page displays I get just below the Google search box:
You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!
Not unusual but when I go to the update site it searches for a minute and then tells me that I have the current version of the software.

If you use the www.google.com/firefox site as home page that previous Firefox 3 versions use as the home page then you can ignore the message about not using the latest Firefox version on that page.
Google no longer seems to maintain that page.
Current Firefox 4+ versions no longer use that Google website as the home page, but use the build-in about:home page as the home page.
Google assumes that you use an older Firefox version if you still visit that site and warns you that you use an older Firefox version and suggests to update.
You can use another page as the home page like about:home or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle).
