Check Point has uncovered a widespread home router security vulnerability, dubbed Misfortune Cookie, that could allow attackers to gain control over millions of devices.
A newly identified vulnerability could expose approximately 12 million residential network gateway devices to attack, endangering home networks and any business data that may traverse those networks.
Lior Oppenheim, a researcher for network and endpoint security vendor Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., based in Israel, was the first to uncover CVE-2014-9222. Dubbed Misfortune Cookie, the vulnerability is more than a decade old and is the result of an error in the HTTP cookie-management mechanism in affected software versions.

The CVE mentions only Huawei Home Gateway products.

We will update you on the fix. Right now, if you add jquery ui as a dependency after jQuery, that will solve your problem. I am sharing a sample here - Dropbox - EC.zip. I am loading jQuery UI from the CDN, you can copy is locally also and load it from there.

You may have inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it. It ought not to be related to any Apple security update.
For a description of how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended actions read How to install adware. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.

Is the New Security Update Working on My Computers?

I have noticed that the XProtect.plist on 2 different computers have never updated since I installed the new Security Update on June 1. I have an Apple Care Product Specialist trying to figure it out.
But, I ran across this (pasted below) today when checking Console, and if anyone can dechiper logs, maybe some independent analysis will tell me why I'm not getting the "MacDefender" scan this security update was supposed to provide (and why the subject .plist has never updated since installing the Security Update on 2 10.6.7 Intel iMacs 4 days ago).
If anyone can dechiper the log and tell me what I might do to correct this problem, kudos!

I've completed the new security download routine 3 times, and Firefox keeps telling me I need to download again.

I've downloaded the new security patch 3 times in the last couple of weeks, put it in my applications and from there onto the dashboard, and Firefox keeps telling me that I need to download it again. This is crazy... Firefox can't recognize it's own application???

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

ok i have been using firefox ever since it first came out and i love it to death it has always been the best browser i have ever used and only been using it for the past few years and never had a complaint with it UNTIL now , this new security crap you all out in here absolutely sucks ass , i want to remove it , delete it , burn it and see to it that it never enters my computer again , so how the hell do i get rid of it , i cant even play my facebook games now because it keeps blocking everything and wont even let my page load i have been forced to go back to internet explorer "Which i hate with a passion" but at least it will let me play my facebook games . i have tried the disable on this page thing but that dont do squat and it keeps blocking everything , if there is nothing i can do to remove it then i will have to do something i never thought i would ever do and download google crome which for me would be scraping the bottom of the barrel but i hate IE but its the only way i can do my facebook stuff now thanks to this new crap you all put on my browser .

Itunes did a new security thing and i cant buy anything because theres something wrong with it. It keeps saying that it cannot set up the security thing. Nothing is missing or invalid. What do I do.

Do you have access to a desktop computer with iTunes so you can complete the process there?

I hate the new security protocols.

More users are going to end up never being able to remember the answers to the security questions than it actually doing any good warding off hackers. It's overprotective, inconventient, and tedious. Heck, I had to create a whole new username just to complain here, and Apple makes it impossible to submit complaints through their website.

Has anyone ventured to install this yet? I'm only asking cause I've been burned a couple of times with these 'maladjusting" my machine. Just wondering if anyone has taken the plunge yet?

It's okay for me. The update seems to be for Quartz Composer and Quicktime, so hopefully it won't cause as many problems as before...

HT2693 When I updated to the new security fix, my COX Communications e-mail server will no longer send e-mails.

When I updated my MacBook Air to the newest vwesion of Mountain Lion, because of the seurity fix.
My CoxCommunications outgoing mail server no longer works.
I called COX and they indicated that they had received thousands of calls asking for help with the same issue,
Any halp would be appreciated...
