Is the macbook pro strong for program

i use alot of music software and recording programs
nad i was wondering if the macbook pro is strong enough to handle hi ram usage programs and how do you get like better hard drives and stuff, like raptors and higher frequency rating ram chips

The MacBook Pro will handle most any music-editing task that your compatible software will need. No other options for faster RAM is currently available, nor have I ever heard of Apple offering faster RAM on their existing machines. Basically, what ever is originally was designed to work on the Mac portables is pretty much it.

Does the Macbook Pro have a program to run Windows built in? If not, what is the best program to do so. Purchasing a new Mac.

No. The Mac does not have anything to run Windows
You must install either virtualizrion software or use BootCamp to create a partition for Windows. Once you have done that then you must install Windows.

  • Is the MacBook Pro good for typing papers in college?

I am looking at getting a MacBook Pro with retina display for college, but is it useful for typing papers??

It's not so much the hardware but rather the proper software that you need. I suggest using Microsoft Word - some people prefer other word processors, but Word can do everything and more than you will need and it's particularly good at APA styles and templates - you can create your own templates or download templates from the Internet that will work cross-platform.
Word for Mac is so full-featured that, as I said, it has features that you may never need, but if you do need them, they're there.
I'm beginning to have a preference for Word for Windows in Office 2013. But there is supposed to be a Office 2014 for Mac coming out later this year and I'm betting that it's going to look a lot like the Windows version.
    Good luck,

  • Which is the best 15 Inch Macbook Pro choice for me?

So I am a currently attending college and studying at the moment CIM (Computer Information Management). I work a lot on my computer either on school work, personal projects, and some minor freelance work. I use a lot of Adobe CS4 software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Flash and Dreamweaver. But I am going to want to get into studying more 3D software products as well. Such as Z-Brush, Maya and what ever 3D software is the best and easiest to use. I can look into that later. But here is the deal. I know what ever choice I make, regarding any MacBook product. It's an upgrade from the laptop I am currently using. I am not dying for the need of a new computer. But with the study and field I want to get into. I definitely need it pretty soon. So my help/question in request is:
Which Macbook Pro (15in/ if 13in will hit it right on the mark of requirements) I should get.
Alright so I am currently running this:
    Windows 7
    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2390 @ 1.86GHz 1.87GHz
    Installed memory (RAM): 3.00GB
    System Type: 32-bit Operating System
I do have some what of a total budget. Which is: 2,450. That is the Online cost for the Macbook Pro 15in - 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 w/ the Apple are protection plan. (Student discount applied)
That leaves a huge hit on my wallet for a bit. So 2,000 would work best. But I don't mind taking the risk since Macbook Pros were recently updated and MacBook Pro products are a lot more longer lasting.
I would love to hear from as many people as possible. The more lamest terms the better. Any information would help. I know the battery life info and such. I have a few External Hard drives. So I don't have an issue with space. But if you have any more question that might be able to help you give me more information to help me make the right choice by all means.
I'd prefer less answers saying. i7 cause its better and will last you for a while anyways. More in depth reason would help. If not just your input on which works best.

Personally, I would say go for the 2.4 GHz 15-inch model to drop the price so you can then upgrade the RAM to 8 gb or/and to an SSD. Apple's processing speed differences of 2.4/2.53/2.66 are insignificant, and the only reason I see of going to the i7 model is because of a small boost in the graphics cache (512mb) for gaming.
It all really depends on 2 things:
    1) how many and how huge of programs you like to run at once
    2) how much space you need on your computer for data
If you run a lot of programs at once or use larger programs like Final Cut, an upgrade to 8gb of RAM will make your computer much faster. A .13 GHz increase in speed won't do anything except cause the program you're using at the moment to possibly work more quickly. RAM is crucial for an abundance of work. It is also more expensive to add 4 gb though...
On the data note, I prefer using an external hard drive to not only backup my files but to also use it as a hard drive. For example, I keep what I need to use at the moment (like current videos i'm editing) on the computer and keep the stuff I won't use for weeks or stuff I'll probably never use again on the external drive. It keeps my computer from having 100s of gigabytes of info on it...easier to manage the computer and its contents. Even being someone who does a lot of video editing, a 128 gb SSD is the perfect size for me if not more than enough. Bonuses of the SSD: faster read/write, no mechanical parts such as spinning dics, silent. The HD that comes standard is really the only thing that makes noise on a computer aside from the cooling. Once again though, SSD is a more expensive upgrade.
As always, it's personal opinion and up to you man!
If you'd like to keep it at 2000, go for the 2.4 GHz model (1699 with student discount I think), and use the 300 for whatever you'd like to add on, whether it be the care plan or what I've mentioned. This might sound complicated, but if you do decide to buy the SSD, then consider the 2.53 GHz model because it only costs 60 more than the SSD on the 2.4 model. You get an extra 50 off with the student discount AND the SSD upgrade is cheaper because your base memory is different.
    Good luck!

Levi G B ... Also found another thread by Davidfromsurfside on 10/14/11 0703A with the same problem. I responded on his thread "I have the same problem. IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. Macbook Pro's have dvd players built in.  Is yours broken?  Yes, you can hook up an xbox 360 or a ps3.  google provides several articles and video tutorials on how to accomplish this.

  • Is is possible to use the MacBook pro as a handsfree for the iPhone?

Why we cannot control de iPhone using the MacBook pro?.
It should be very easy, but it is not.
I even can't pair my MacBook pro with my iPhone, see pic!
I really do not understand why we can not use the MacBook bluetooth capabilities to make calls, answers calls etc.
Apple let us use the Mac bluetooth capabilities to use and control our iPhone, it should be easy, also!

You may think it should be easy, but in reality it is not.  Your MacBook Pro is not a dedicated handsfree headset, and it would take a considerable amount of effort to write the application code to create a program for your MBP to emulate one.  You can find any third party developer you like and convince them to create a Mac App for you which will provide you with a user interface on your Mac, and use Bluetooth to emulate a handsfree headset for your cell phone (it swouldn't even have to be an iPhone) and see just how much they want to charge you for such an application.  You might be surprised to see how high those numbers really are...

You need to talk with the tax authorities in the countries to which you traveled and that of your home country. We are all end-users liek you and not Apple agents.

  • I have a 500 GB hard drive and a 1TB Time Capsule running on a MacBook Pro.  It was all working well until the MacBook went in for a repair a week or so ago.  Since then, TC will not perform a backup;  instead, it says the backup is too large for the disk

Since having my MacBook Pro repaired (for a video problem) Time Capsule returns the following message:  "This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 428.08 GB but only 192.14 GB are available."
I notice that there is also a new sparse bundle.
Since TC has my ONLY backup (going back about 4 years) I am reluctant to wipe it and start over fresh as I am afraid of losing files.
Is there a way of dealing with this?
I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8

The repair shop likely replaced a major circuit board on your MacBook Pro, so Time Machine thinks that you have a "new" computer and it wants to make a new complete backup of your Mac.
You are going to have to make a decision to either add another new Time Capsule....or USB drive to your existing Time Capsule....and in effect start over with a new backup of your Mac and then move forward again.
For "most" users, I think this is probably the best plan because you preserve all your old backups in case you need them at some point, and you start over again with a new Time Capsule so you have plenty of room for years of new backups.
Or, as you have mentioned, you have the option of erasing the Time Capsule drive and starting all over again. The upside is that you start over and have plenty of room for new backups. The downside is that you lose years of backups.
Another option....trying to manually delete old backups individually....is tricky business....and very time consuming. To get an idea of what is involved here, study this FAQ by Pondini, our resident Time Capsule and Time Machine expert on the Community Support area. In particular, study the pink box.
    http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/12.html
Once you look through this, I think you may agree that this type of surgery is not for the faint of heart.  I would suggest that you consider this only if one of the other options just cannot work for you.

  • How will an external Hard drive designed for the macbook Pro work with my White Macbook?  My  white macbook has a Firewire 400 and the G-Tech HD has a 800 to 400 compatible cable for the firewire.

I am asking this because I want the G-Tech Hard drive  says that it is designed for the macbook pro.  Yet, I want to back up faster with by using my firewire 400 which is not an option on the one designed for the white macbook that does not have a firewire (only a USB port.)  The G-Tech Hard drive comes with the 800 to 400 compatible cable and has 5400 RPM with 750 GB.  Also, I've heard that laptops with low battery (mine all the time)  won't have the power for a bus powered Hard drive (as in no ac plug in adaptor.)  Can I just plug in my laptop?  Any one know the answers from experience with this hard drive?

As far as I know, if a harddrive works with a Macpro, it should work with the Macbook: if your Macbook is low on power, plug in the AC adapter
If your Macbook has a firewire port, then it should be fine. BUt i would do somemore research first.

  • Is there a key on the MacBook Pro to toggle display options for a projector

I have had some difficulty getting my InFocus projector to consistently work correctly with my MacBook Pro. Is there a key on the MacBook Pro that toggles the options for projector display? There was one on my last MacBook and my previous PowerBook.
    Thanks -
    Dudley Warner

No, there is no longer a key to control external display modes (it's F7 on my 1st gen MBP, but the option was removed along with the embedded numeric keypad in the Early 2008 models). There's not a substitute keyboard shortcut (with the exception of installing a macro player like Keyboard Maestro). Your main option is System Preferences > Displays (as stated, ticking the box to show Displays in the menu bar provides a helpful shortcut).

I clicked on iMessage on my Macbook Pro today for the first time, and now NOTES keeps opening up every 5 seconds, with a new note.  I cannot stop it from opening. If I close it or force close, it opens again in 5 seconds.  I can't get rid of it.  I have tried to clear out the iMessage settings I had put in, and I've tried to adjust the Accounts to not include notes to synch.  But, Notes will not stop.  It opens a new note, and even if you ignore it, it assumes preference every 5 seconds, and the Mac is impossible to use.

Do you have any Boot Camp or other secondary partitions set up on your system? If so then try running a disk verification routine (chkdsk, etc.) in Windows to repair the disk. While I've not heard of it happening recently, in the past errors in these partitions have resulted in stubborn ghost files appearing in OS X.
