Is the n80 worth it

im considering getting the n80 ive heard all the problems and more ,ive also heard nokia are sorting it out but the n70 which runs on similiar software is still having problems even with the recent firmware update so all in all is it worth paying so much for a phone with so many problems can anyone pleae help

its worth its just wait a bit when they iron out all the bugs, as for the n70 ive updated a couple of my friends n70's from the first firmware version to the latest one, to solve the ringing tone problem (that was the one that they noticed the most) and no problems as of yet) the n80 is a great phone, just the software isnt at this point thats my two cents

  • Man/Assessed val.ind in the net worth tax tab of the Asset Master.

    Hi Friends,
Checkbox Indicator:Manl net worth tax val. field in the Net worth tax tab is optional in the screen layout rules for an Asset class. But the Check box is not appearing before the manual networth value field in the Asset master data. Could you please through some light on this why it is not appearing in the Asset Master even it is optional in the screen layout rules.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Bernhard,
First of all thanks for your response. The maintenance level in the screen layout is at Main Asset number.  Just for understanding, Even if the maintenance level is at Asset class level only the default values should flow to the master and it should be modifible at Asset Master level.
In My case the maintenance level is at Asset Main number level, but still  it is not appearing. Please let me know is there any thing else can effect this field status?
    Thanks and Regards

  • Will there be a firmware upgrade for the N80?

    Does anybody know?
I ask this question because I would like to make an informed decision whether to hold on to the N80 or get rid whilst I have the opportunity too.
I would prefer to keep the phone if I knew that some of the issue will be fixed.

karim, I have already reported my issues directly to Nokia using the approriate method, which is something you contiually reminds us to do, so there is not really any point discussing them in detail here.
coromoto, thanks for your comments, However I did not state the does not satisfy my needs, If in fact ticked all the boxes that's why I brought it. What I would like is a more stable phone with a more efficent use of memorey and if Nokia cannot slove some the battery issues via firmware than a bigger capacity battery would be answer to a lot of peoples prays.
Patience is a virtue, but at the rate Nokia produces new phone the N80 might be long forgotten before it's truly fixed.
I think it would be just good customer service if Nokia would actually say if they were working to resolve some issues by way of a firmware update, thus keep us of there backs.

  • Media Player with FF for the N80

I found a bunch of Media Players that support Fast Forward and Reverse for Symbian, but none for the 3rd edition, ie: compatible with the N80. Anyone had better luck?Message Edited by patc on 21-Jul-2006

OK, I'm an eejit: just discovered that on the regular Media Player, the 6 and 4 keys do FF/RW respectively.
    Duh!
    Who said RTFM ..?

  • Ebook reader for the N80

    Hi all
Does anyone know if there if there is an ebook reader for the N80 that can read .lit files?
    Thanks
    Marv

I don't think so, as the .lit format is a Microsoft Reader format. However, I think there are .lit converters out there on the Internet.
For a reader for the N80 you could use Mobipocket, for example.

  • Is the classic worth it?

Right now, I have a 16GB ipod touch.
I'm giving it to my brother, and getting a 160GB ipod classic, cause it has wayyy more space, for a lot less money. Is the classic worth it though?
Is the movie quality good & everything? Ahh please give me the benefits of getting a classic.

I love my new Classic 80GB.
However, it is not without its deficiencies (though I've suffered no "bugs" yet).
    What I love:
It holds a helluva lot of music, it holds cover art and it sounds dang good. What more do you want? It seems to be built sturdy and you can get varioius cases to carry it in and protect it. You can dock it to a docking station and charge it without having to hook it to a usb at your computer AND have it play from the dock through your stereo system (though the dock's remote does not have the menu that your Ipod has, you can just pause, play, skip and ff...
    What I think needs improvement:
    - I'd love it if I could delete tracks or albums right from the IPod.
    - I'd love it if it would play album after album instead of stopping after one album
(These 2 things are my biggest complaints.)
    Some other suggestions:
    - I'd prefer it to be a heavy duty rubbery-plastic so it would be lighter and yet still durable. Less heavy would mean if it drops the force of the drop would be less jarring to the drive.
    - If they insist on making it out of metal I wish they'd change the shiny chromme to a brushed silver that doesn't show fingerprints so much.
    - I wish they'd improve ITunes. I don't use "sync" because my music collection is too large to devote a folder just to syncing my music. So I wish ITunes would allow me to drag, say 10 folders at a time into the ITunes /IPod instead of having to do one folder at a time! This is just plain DUMB to only be able to drag one folder at a time onto the IPod icon for loading!
    - And most importantly, as far as ITunes, I wish the ability to get track info, track names and cover art would work for more than just music bought AT the ITunes store. Eff the Itunes store! I have other software, like my cd label maker, that connects to CDDB or whatever it is and provides me with the names and tracks of cd's. ITunes COULD easily do this, they are just being stingy and greedy.
So as you see, I have some issues with IPod and ITunes, but they do not stop it from being a great little player. And for the price ($238 for the 80gig), you can't beat it.
Some day I hope they resolve some of the above problems and put out a 500gigger. When and if they do, I'll buy one of those. Meanwhile, I don't know about the 160 gigger but the 80 gigger is great.

  • Is the G3 worth giving up my unlimited data plan?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with unlimited data (grandfathered in when I replaced my original Motorola Droid).  I've been waiting for the "perfect" phone to replace it, and it looks like the G3 might be it.   The Nexus was a great phone in its time, but I've always disliked the really rotten battery life and the difficulty it has finding a data signal and also staying connected to wifi (both, it turns out, common issues with this phone, especially the data signal issue).
So, those of you who have this phone, what do you think?   Do you love the phone?   Worth sacrificing my unlimited data to buy on the $99 special and give up my unlimited data (I've never even used 1 GB of data in a month, but I hate giving it up on principle) or wait until I can afford the full off-contract price (which will be a while) and do one of the "hacks" to keep the unlimited?

In my opinion, I'm sure others would disagree, if you have never even used 1 GB in a month, you are crazy to not give up the unlimited data in exchange for a ~$500 discount on your phone.
For what its worth, if you purchase the phone at full retail, you DO NOT need to do a "hack" to keep unlimited. Verizon allows you to keep unlimited if you pay full retail for your phone. The only exception would be if you purchase it on the Edge plan, then you would not keep unlimited.

  • Is the iPad worth it?

I'm gonna be starting college soon, and everyone keeps telling me to get an iPad to use. I already have an iPod 4, and a MacBook Pro, and I was just wondering if the iPad is worth the price? And if it is, should I wait for the iPad 3 to come out? Thanks!

If you're on the fence but you already have a MB Pro, my sugestion is to wait until you start school.  That will give you the opportunity to meet with other students that already have iPads and you can make a more intelligent choice, i.e. one specifically tailored to YOUR personal preferences.
I've been out of college since before most persons on this earth were on this earth.  However, I'm not particularly enthused with the iPad as a college tool.  For one, because of glare, it's pretty much impossible to read anythng outdoors.  For another, it's clumsy as a data entry device (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).  In fact, I learned the hard way that Pages documents created on the Mac are NOT entirely compatible with the Pages app on the iPad.  I used my Mac to create some advertising flyers for my son's business and they're unreadable on the iPad!

  • Is the nano worth throwing away my old ipod mini?

I just bought a ipod mini 1 month before the nano came out. So now i'm feeling kinda ticked off as you can imagine.
The month that i did have an up to date ipod, i was enjouying it alot. In fact i currently have 200 songs on it and listen to them all frequently. So now the big question for me is if i should sell my current ipod mini so that i can buy a ipod nano.
Is the ipod nano worth it?

Yes. Throw away the Mini. Not literally; give it to a 7 year old just starting to appreciate music. Or, better yet, donate it to kids playing street hockey as it will glide better than a roll of electrical tape.
The nano is that good. It's that much of a breakthrough. It re-sets the bar for all portable electronics.
It boils down to light weight vs. capacity. If you can't listen to 4000 songs in a week, what's the point of carrying around an iBrick on the train, bus, or plane? Use iTunes, that's what it's for. It's there to be your library of all 4000 songs that you own. Once a week (or month) just dock the nano with iTunes and tweak your song choices a little bit.
It's like carrying around a carton of cigarettes when you can only smoke a pack a day. Lots of extra weight and complexity that can be eliminated when you can have a more simple device that can do a better job.
Ditch the Mini, grab a nano, and don't look back.

  • The N80, T9 and a new message hint...

Good afternoon, and as usual, sorry if this question has already been addressed, but I cannot find much about it on the forum.
Basically, i'm currently on my first Orange N80 (3.0617.0.6)and to be honest, it's a love/hate relationship.
When the phone works well, it's simply the best piece of kit on the market as far as i'm concerned. However, the inability to answer calls sometimes, creates pure frustration (Phone just freezes with the phone symbol ringing, while my customers have been diverted to voicemail. Phone then requires a reboot).
I am also experiencing bizarre bugs which i've not seen mentioned before, eg: when receiving a text message whilst on a call, the loudspeaker is activated automatically and a 'beep beep' almost deafens me. Also, anyone around me can hear my conversation between the beeps!
Anyway, back to my original point. T9, and it's assumption of words you may use. I actually don't usually add words to the dictionary, as unlike my previous SE K750i, you can't review what's been added and remove the unecessary. My major gripe, is that INX comes before HOW, and has done pretty much since I got the phone. Is there anyway you guys know of, to ensure HOW is the first word that comes up? I've tried adding HOW again, but to no avail. There are some other words that do this, but they've currently escaped my memory... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, I just wanted to say that if some of you are still struggling to read the tiny writing font for messages, i've started using notepad to create and then send as normal. No big breakthrough, but it is an alternative!
    Cheers,
    Ed

One really annoying problem I've found just lately with my N80 is when answering an incoming call, the phone will not activate the loudspeaker during a received call - wierd. Btw, I'm on Orange with 3.0617.0.6 variant firmware. Can anyone (mod's included) give me a good reason why I cannot have the Nokia generic firmware flashed onto my phone, it shouldn't invalidate the manufacturers warranty and if Orange say their warranty is invalidated so what? We still have basic manufacturers warranty for 12 or 18 months or whatever it is. I've never particularly liked the Orange software anyway but I get superb reception evrywhere when at work where as o2 and Vodafone etc struggle for reception so that's why I stick with 'em.

  • Is the iphone worth it?

I am two steps away from buying a new iphone and I love apple products!! But, I have been reading this forum for two weeks now and only seem to see people having problems with their iphones. I really need to know that having an iphone isn't as much trouble as it seems by reading these forums. Anybody out there have anything positive to say about their phones because im starting to think that they are more trouble than they are worth! Thx

Go to your AT&T Store and sign up for a Go phone (one with 3G if possible). Use it for a month in the area you live, work, travel to, congregate, etc. If you are getting good reception in all those areas you have eliminated one possible problem.
Now go buy you iPhone and have them set it up. Before you get one decide what email you are primarily going to use and have them help you set up your email. If you are going to start a new email account look into MobileMe or use Yahoo, both will do Push mail.
Be sure to clean up all your music, movies, contacts on the computer that you are going to sync with the iPhone and make sure your iTunes Account is authorized and logged in prior to syncing the iPhone. Also, don't leave the store without a good case.
I know several people in my area with iPhones, none have had major problems, and I just finished buying an iPhone Gift Card for another friend. I'm in an area with good 3G reception and have not had any problems.

  • Found a keylock for the N80...

    Hi all,
I've not got an N80, but I've seen a few posts about them, so thought I'd share this with you - can't try it so can't say whether it's any good or not...
    mLock
    Nokia History: 3110, 5110, 7110, 7110, 3510i, 6210, 6310i, 5210, 6100, 6610, 7250, 7250i, 6650, 6230, 6230i, 6260, N70, N70, 5300, N95, N95, E71, E72
Android History: HTC Desire, SE Xperia Arc, HTC Sensation, Sensation XE, One X+, Google Nexus 5

I have installed this application, but find that it does the same as if you press 'Yes' to the 'Lock Keypad?' prompt when you slide the phone closed, and unlocks when you slide it open.
I was hoping that when you unlock the keypad it would ask for a different key combination rather than the two top soft keys like it does already. The problem with this is that it can be unlocked while it is in a pocket as the two soft keys are close together, or it may slide open slightly while in the pocket.
I was hoping that this application would change the key combination to something like previous Nokia's use i.e soft key then *, thereby avoiding an accidental unlock.
I think I may go back to using the Autolock function in the Security Settings of the phone. Although it is a bit of a pain having to punch in the code each time you want to unlock it, it saves having accidental unlocks.Message Edited by blackrain on 29-Jun-2006
