Is the new iCloud storage on top of the iTune Match yearly fee?

I pay a $20+ annually for iTunes match due to the number of music files I have. Does the new iCould storage fee structure replaces it or is it additional?

It's additional, they are used for different things. Your iTunes Match subscription is for music only, and the amount of storage that it requires is included in your subscription ; iCloud is used for your device backups and for sharing documents, photos, files etc between your devices and computers

  • New iCloud storage pricing

When will the new iCloud storage pricing be implemented and or available? I need to upgrade soon as my i-devices are all consuming a significant amount of storage.

Great, I didn't have to do anything! Higher storage just applied to my account and a pro-rata refund given to reflect the cheaper pricing. Thanks for the hassle free transition Apple.

    Hey Hindfromlondon,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.  Since you are posting here, I take it you already have an Apple ID.
You can setup that Apple ID to work with iCloud.  See:
Set up your Apple ID for iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support
And you usually want to stick with one Apple ID as having multiples can cause confusion (especially with purchases).
Frequently asked questions about Apple ID - Apple Support
    What is an Apple ID?
An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID.
For a complete list of all of the places you can use an Apple ID, see Where do I use an Apple ID.
    and further down:
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.

  • Will the new iCloud provide storage/backup/sharing for all my files on all my devices?

Will the new iCloud be able to:
Allow me to share/backup/view all my files on all my devices.
Use a public folder to share with staff, friends and family like Mobile Me could do.
    Thx much

    PV,
Thx for your commercial on Apple's iCloud.
Been and Apple user since 1977 and iCloud STINKS!!!!
Let me be clear....I spent $100-125 for MobileMe and would be very, very, very happy to continue to spend that and more for storage/backup/sharing of my files/photos/videos on iCloud.
It is now much worse than Mobile Me, yes Mobile Me was great!!
Very, very sorry that iCloud is very, very bad.
Apple has done a great job providing us with many devices to share our files and documents, but Apple's iCloud does not allow us to share/back-up/view our files.
This is sad, very, very, very sad.

  • Why is the extra icloud storage I purchased a month ago, not showing in icloud?

Why is the extra icloud storage I purchased a month ago, not showing in cloud? I created a new apple id @icloud thinking that my regular email address wasn't acceptable for icloud but the 10 gigs I purchased are still not showing up, nor are any of the apps I've purchased showing in icloud. Why is that?

    You redownlod apps by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Your purchased music, apps, books, and TV shows, as well as your Photo Stream, don’t count against the 5 GB of free storage.
You said " I created a new apple id @icloud thinking that my regular email address wasn't acceptable for icloud "
The additional storage would show up when iCloud is signed into the that new account.
To me it sounds like you should cancel the iCloud storage sinceyou seem not to rally need it.
For a full refund, contact iCloud Support within 15 days of an upgrade or within 45 days after a yearly payment. Partial refunds are available where required by law.

I just bought the 20g iCloud storage yesterday but I thought it was to bump the total upto 25g! I wonder what happen to the 5 free for?

The new plans are based on total storage so the 5GB is no longer an addition.  Presumably the price reflects the fact that you get 5GB free.

  • TS4009 My 3 apple devices share the same icloud storage sate them now?

My 3 apple devices share the same Icloud storage space and I am running out of free space. How do separate them and get individual accounts for each device?

You only need create two new accounts. Your device is already associated with your account so this in no way affects your stuff.
On a Mac you create user accounts in either the Accounts or Users & Groups preferences depending on which version of OS X you are using.

  • I redirected iTunes to an external drive and moved my iTunes library and folder, but my hard drive is still low on space.  How can I be sure that my music is all on the external HD ONLY, especially with the new iCloud technology?

I redirected iTunes to an external drive and moved my iTunes library and folder, but my hard drive is still low on space.  How can I be sure that my music is all on the external HD ONLY, especially with the new iCloud technology?  It doesn't look like I created any more space by doing this, AND I totally lost all my iTunes playlists.  I'm not sure if because I added old library materials manually if this messed up my playlists, or if the new location is just not reading my moved library.  In any case, I followed step by step instructions and found a few holes and thought I'd just "figure it out" but I guess I'm not as smart as I thought since I'm still scratching my head many hours later.
    Thanks for any support ;-)

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • I had a MobileMe account before... after upgrading to iOS 5, should I keep my account info under iCloud (settings) AND under mail, contacts and calendars (in Settings as well) or only keep the info under the new iCloud setting section?

I had a MobileMe account before... after upgrading to iOS 5, should I keep my account info under iCloud (settings) AND under mail, contacts and calendars (in Settings as well) or only keep the info under the new iCloud setting section?

That's not the correct port. It should be 993 for incoming.
If you signed into iCloud from the System Preferences, it should automatically create the iCloud account for you in Mail. Sounds like it is an account you already had set up for MMe in Mail.
Open Mail preferences, open the Accounts tab, disable that account in the advanced pane.
Open Sys Prefs, open the iCloud tab, and sign out of iCloud. Then sign back in and see if a new iCloud account is automatically created.

Oops my bad...I see that during my troubleshooting I inadvertently left Ringtones unchecked in iTunes.

I changed my Apple ID (other email address and password) and now I can not login to my account in the iPhone iCloud. When I open the tab iCloud displayed my old Apple ID (it was in the iCloud) and asks for a password, but neither the old nor the new password does not match. What to do?

If you want to change your iCloud ID or password on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated information.  Note: this only deletes the account and any synced data from your phone, not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts it will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

With the new iCloud I now get all of my wife's contacts on my iPhone.  Is there a way to restore just my old contacts to my phone?

Only if a backup of the iPhone with all that data on it exists.  If one does, restore the iPhone using that backup.

  • Error: -69774: Couldn't bring the new Core Storage Logical Volume online

    Hi,
    I have a filevault encrypted drive (750GB).
I first noticed a problem when it prompted my for the FileVault passphrase (which I had stored in my keychain) and entering the correct passphrase resulted in the typical "error" response (the sideways "bouncing" entry field) asking me for the passphrase again.
So I get a list of the corestorage to get the UUID of the encrypted volume:
    >diskutil corestorage list
CoreStorage logical volume groups (1 found)

Using command line I get the following response:
    >diskutil corestorage unlockvolume UUID -stdinpassphrase
    {UUID being the one of the last Logical Volume named "750GB APPLE HDD"}
    Passphrase:
    Started CoreStorage operation
    Logical Volume successfully unlocked
Error: -69774: Couldn't bring the new Core Storage Logical Volume online
    next I try:
    >diskutil corestorage revert UUID -stdinpassphrase
    Passphrase:
    Started CoreStorage operation on disk3
Error: -69741: The target disk isn't eligible for reversion because it wasn't created by conversion or it is not part of a simple setup of exactly one logical and one physical volume
    and then:
    >diskutil corestorage unlockvolume UUID -stdinpassphrase
    Passphrase:
Error beginning CoreStorage Logical Volume unlock: The target Core Storage volume is not locked (-69748)
looking at the kernel log I see the following interesting entries:
08.12.13 15:32:47,000 kernel[0]: CoreStorage: fsck_cs has finished for group "UUID" with status 0x00

BTW: after a while I also hear a single clicking sound (head jumping back on drive) so I am not sure if it might be a physical disk failure.
    Any ideas anyone?

Also, I've tried Terminal command: diskutil corestorage revert UUID -stdinpassphrase which returned "Error: -69854: A disk with a mount point is required"
Also, I've tried Terminal command: diskutil corestorage changeVolumePassword UUID -newpassphrase which returned "Error beginning CoreStorage Logical Volume unlock: The target Core Storage volume is not encrypted (-69755)"

  • Are there Mail changes in Mavericks? Are the new iCloud keychain features like LastPass?

It's a pleasant surprise that Mavericks - OS X 10.9 was released as a free upgrade. There are some nice new features, like Finder tabs. I don't see any mention of Mail enhancements though. Are there any? I see tagging for files. Tagging for mail would be nice as cross-references.
What about the new iCloud keychain features. Does that do most of what LastPass does? Or is it just Safari specific?
    Anyway, off to upgrade!
