Is the onboard mic mono or stereo?

Presario-CQ-60-215DX
Microphone seems to be mono but can't tell for sure.
Earphone jack is stereo.
None of the specs tells one way or the other.
IF it is mono, can it be changed to stereo?
Most sound card support stereo.

This link confirms that the audio in is stereo indeed.

  • Is there a way to use the onboard mic and an audio interface simultaneously with the iPad?

I teach bass lessons with skype and was wondering if theres a way to do this with an ipad
Can the ipad pic up my voice(through internal mic) and bass(throgh audio interface) simultaniusly and then use both of those signals with skype?
Any ideas on how I might teach skype lessons with an ipad? Thanks http:/http://basslessonsunlimited.com

    Yes.
    1) Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on your existing wireless router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule
    2) Go through the standard configuration suggested by the setup "wizard"
    3) Then manually turn off the wireless function using AirPort Utility

  • Options for receiving audio other than onboard mic...

I spent about 8 hrs in my home studio making a really awesome voice mail message for my Verizon account. After I completed my new snazzy message I attempted to record it to my voice mail account. When the phone promoted me to say my message I simply played my recording through the speakers and held up the phone. Ugh! Sounded terrible. I tried different volumes of playback, diff distances from speakers... nothing could make it sound clear like it does in the actual room. Then I tried my Bluetooth headset with the understanding that the thing is marketed as having a good mic. No better. So I called Verizon and they claim to have no way to digitally transfer my mixdown to the account (I was thinking if I could make my message into a MP3 r whatever, maybe I could upload it somehow). No go. So I'm forced to record it real time to Verizons recorder. Soooo...does this Curve here have any sort of alternative to the onboard mic other than a Bluetooth? A line in would be perfect as I could play my mix into the phone bypassing the mic altogether. But I think I'm outta luck. Any ideas for me?

I think you're out of luck as you said.
This is a Verizon function, not of the BlackBerry. The voicemail system lies in their servers somewhere.
I don't know of any line-in function. It's not available.

  • Need to disable onboard mic

As my iBook doesn't have an input, I recently picked up a usb interface to record audio. it works great except for the fact that I'm actually recording sound throug an external mic/mixer, so I need to turn off my onboard mic. I've gone into system preferences/sound and turned down the mic all the way, but am still picking up sound from the onboard mic. any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

There is no way to do so if you did not set it up in advance. If it was stolen or lost report it to your local autorities.

  • Mono vs. stereo, answer to random resets?

i read elsewhere on the forums that if you have mono recorded songs it causes you ipod to crash. this is the problem im currently having, where it crashes randomnly as its shuffling through songs.
so how can i determine which songs are mono so i can get rid of them and see if this fixes my problem?

Honestly, it doesn't matter whether the song is mono or stereo for whether it will play or not, just to how it sounds. Is it just certain songs or does it do it completely randomly? If it is certain songs, then you have to remove those songs and reformat them so they are in a proper format. If it isn't that particular ones, then you have a corrupt iPod Control file on your iPod and you'll have to do a reformat. If you don't want to lose all your music because you don't have proper backups of it, there are a few ways around it. But before I get into that, let me know what you discover about which songs it is.

  • Radio mic.. onboard mic- sound out of sync

    Hi all
I was filming a party, and was using a radio mic for all the interviews/messages.
At one point I was caught off guard, when suddenly a speech was made. I had no time to mic him up, so I used the onboard mic.
    Now...
the part I filmed using the onboard mic is leaving the audio out of sync...
How do I go about fixing that, and also why did that happen?

    hi Studio X
It was a wireless type mic recording straight to camera.
I didn't touch the settings between using wireless mic and on board mic (16 bit)
I managed to fix the sync by slicing and moving the audio once or twice on the timeline, but I'm still curious as to why it happened (for future reverences)

  • Difference Between Mono And Stereo ?

I want to know whats the difference between mono and stereo when you create a new track ? I'm new here ..

Mono is for recording monophonic sources (one microphone). Stereo is for recording stereophonic sources (two microphones).

  • Audio capture Mono or stereo for a mono lav mic?

We recorded a video where we captured the sound using a lav mic recording mono on one channel.
When I capture the tape (audio and video) into Final Cut Pro, would it be better to capture in mono or stereo? Thanks.

Hi Jim, the filming is already finished. I'm talking about putting my footage into final cut. I just don't know if I should select mono or stereo in the clip settings when I capture from my camera.
That's what I was talking about too.
What is your final deliverable? for the web? For home enjoyment on tv, for broadcast? for cinema projection? Each of these has it's own aural space that you should be mixing for.
Personally, I like to put everything in the timeline, even if eventually I don't use it and remove it later. If for nothing else than the odd piece of room tone that becomes necessary.
But if you've got one person talking, in mono, bring him in in mono, and pan the track to where you want it in your mix.

The audio sockets used on the slot cover of Sound Blaster cards accept (/8-inch) miniplugs.

Line-In is stereo. Mic-In is mono.

  • I want to export a video file with 6 mono track for surround sound and the 7th track to be stereo.

I want to give my friend a video file, so when he imports it into avid, premiere, final cut etc. he would recieve 6 mono tracks (L,R,C,LE,Ls,Rs) and the last one to be stereo. but every time i export it comes as 7 mono tracks. and in the setting thats the only option

i think you would have to go with 8 mono tracks, 6 for the 5.1 mix and 2 more for the stereo. that or try to use 4 stereo pairs, but that would combine parts of the 6 mono (5.1 mix).

  • HT4589 How do I change the audio to dual mono from stereo when using Share to DVD in Final Cut 10.1?

How do I switch the audio to Dual Mono from Stereo when using Share in Final Cut Pro 10.1? Even though the audio is all in dual mono in the timeline, it lists it as stereo in the share box.

    Hi rationale1,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The share to DVD settings in Final Cut Pro X use the Dolby Digital settings which are stereo for DVDs. So this can’t be done directly in Final Cut Pro X.
The link below will explain the Dolby Digital parameters and options in Compressor 4.   You may need to research a different DVD authoring software to achieve your desired result.
Dolby Digital - Compressor 4 User Manual
    http://help.apple.com/compressor/mac/4.1/#cpsrb71736a2
    Dolby Digital
The built-in Dolby Digital settings (in the Create Blu-ray and Create DVD destinations, as well as the built-in AC-3 and EC-3 audio settings) use the Dolby Digital transcoding format. This format encodes Dolby Digital (AC-3) and Dolby Digital Plus (EC-3) audio files that contain multiple audio channels, including 5.1 surround sound. You can also create custom settings that use the Dolby Digital transcoding format.
Note:  All files intended for video and audio DVD authoring must have a 48 kHz sample rate as required by the DVD specification.
DVD Video: Choose this option if you’re encoding for use in a DVD video authoring application.
DVD Audio: Choose this option if you’re encoding for use in a DVD audio authoring application.
Tip:  For stereo encoding, rates of 192 kbps and 224 kbps are typical and will produce good results. For Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding, a rate of 384 kbps is recommended. For 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus encoding, a rate of 192 kbps is recommended.
    Cheers,
    Judy

  • Stereo clips goes into the timeline as mono

    hello,
When I'm on Premier Pro when I transfer stereo sound from source towards the time-line, I have the sound of the band to mono camera.
That should I do for it to be stereo ?
    thank you

Right click on the clip in the Project Window and Modify/Audio Channel.
    Set format to stereo.

  • Does the X-FI XMusic support stereo Mic

I have X-Fi XtremeMusic and i have a stereo microphone from my ASUS mainboard. And I want to use it on the X-FI. And the question is: ?

Never mind. I got to looking at some blown-up pics of the Fatalty card and I see that they replaced the front audio panel connectors for your case with some funky 4-prong setup. It's too bad they wouldn't offer a solution for this. Maybe I can track down the pin-out assignments and monkey something together. Sigh...or just use the onboard and save myself 30+ bucks for the card and hours of frustration, lol!

  • Are iPad and iPhone built in microphones mono or stereo?

    That's my question.

He assumed that you were hoping the mic would be stereo. As I said, though, for most use cases, a mono mic is just fine (or even better). What use do you have in mind. The only situation in which a stereo mic would be better is if you're going to record a stage or room full of musicians playing. If you're recording voice memos, or even recording yourself playing a single instrument, a stereo mic is unnecessary.
That said, we still haven't completely resolved whether the built-in mic is mono or stereo. The tech specs on apple.com don't specify, but I am 99.9% certain that it is mono.

  • FCPX Dual Mono vs Stereo question

Hi everybody - I've been busy but recently on the Zumiez show I came out of it with a question:
I like to route each of my AJA KiPro ISO records two separate channels of audio, I send a line-feed to CH. 1 (left) and I run a NAT mic feed to CH.2, (right).  If I bring the captures into FCPX, for example to create short lifts, I want the producer to be able to choose between the line feed or the ambient mic, so I leave them as "Stereo", but it isn't really a stereo track.  I needed to adjust the levels, raise the line level and lower the mic level, but I can't do that unless I designate "Dual Mono".  When I designate Dual Mono, I can adjust the levels seperately and even apply filters indivisually, but then the channels are summed mono.
How do you keep stereo seperation on two individual tracks and still be able to make individual adjustments?  Or maybe another way to the same goal; can I set hard pans on a pair of Dual Mono tracks?
    Thanks for any help!  -Stephen
