Is the only way to sync with itunes is through wif-fi?

Is the only way to sync your phone with itunes, through wi-fi? I get that message when hitting itunes button on the phone. Thx peace

I think you're hitting the iTunes button on your phone expecting it to connect to iTunes on your computer. That's not what its for. The iTunes button on the phone launches the mobile version of the iTunes Music Store, so you can purchase and download music over a wifi connection. Think of it as the AppStore, but with music (and needs to be wifi)
To sync your phone with iTunes you need to use the USB cable that was supplied with the phone, as the poster above has said.

One is now obliged to send private information to an external server...

Thank you for the link but what a waist of time.
Who is the idiot that decided to drop manual syncing of contacts and calendars?
I am on the point of dropping all APPLE machines!
I am looking to sync without having to worry about security issues, keeping my files and passwords locally on my machines, and not an external server such as a cloud drive.
Do you know if Outlook syncs also over an external server?

  • Is BAPI the only way to sync with backends?

I wonder if there is any other way? Thanks!

    Hi Jennifer,
Enterprise services are webservices. I dont know when SAP is to deliver webservice support, but in the future the Mobile 7.1 middleware will communicate via webservices to the backend.
You can find tons of information about webservice on help.sap.com.

My iTunes gave me the option to erase and sync with the library or just sync with Itunes purchases. Since I have songs from more than one source and all my music was in the library, I chose the erase and sync option. All my music was wiped off my iPod and a few recent iTunes purchases were synced onto the iPod. All my music is still in the library, but it won't sync to my iPod. Making me crazy.

You need to start over with Music. On the iPhone Music screen uncheck sync music. Also, on the Summary screen uncheck "Manually manage music and videos", then sync and it should clear off your phone.
Next, choose the music you want to sync. If you want to fit more on check "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". This will reduce quality slightly, but it won't be noticable unless you are using $300 headphones.

  • In the latest iOS updates, did Apple change the way Airplay communicate with other devices through Wifi?

    Short :
In the latest iOS updates, did Apple change the way Airplay communicate with other devices through Wifi?
    Detailed:
We had a glitch with our Apple TV 3A 3-4 weeks ago and had to factory reset it (we reconfigured it with the exact same configuration than before the crash), it's now running iOS 7.0.2, I can't saw which version it ran before the problem though.
It's used in a business environment with 30+ iPads 2, half of them are updated to 8.1.1 and the other half to 8.1.2. We use the latest iTunes version.
Before the glitch that required a reset, all the iPads were detecting and mirroring when needed to the Apple TV, but now the iPads don't see the Apple TV in their list of Airplay devices anymore (but they detect various other devices inside our network).
I have to add that our Apple TV is able to navigate the movie store correctly, so I assume that it's not an internet restriction issue from our end (also, the APple TV do not see either any of the many iPads on its device-detection screen.
We successfully connected an iPhone 5S and an iPhone 6 through P2P Airplay, so it's not the issue, but when we connected the iPhones to our Wifi network (Same as all the other devices are using) the Apple TV suddenly disappeared from the choices.
Hence the reason why I inquire to the possibility that some changes were made in one of the latest iOS revisions, if so, we would require some details so we can adjust our Wifi configuration accordingly to allow the proper detection of devices.
P.S. I tried the basic troubleshooting of Airplay problems with no avail. Airplay button is displaying on the control panel, Airplay do not show the Apple TV at all (so it's not either the trick to display the Mirroring button), we also already proceeded to the suggested devices reboots, so my issue is quite more complex I believe.
    Thanks in advance.

I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

  • HT1212 I followed the I have never synced with itunes directions, and I appear to have lost everything that was on my itouch.  Now what?

This is the most frustrating site and instructions.  I got locked out of my iTouch and had to do a system restore.  I followed the directions for having never synced with itunes directions, as I inheireted this itouch from my dad and when I tryed to sync before it looked like I would wipe out everything on it, which I DID NOT want to do.  Now, after following the directions, I have wiped out everything that was on it, pictures, songs,...is there anyway to restore what was on the itouch?

Looking at those directions I am not seeing the device in itunes.  Here is what I followed from:  iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode under if you have never synced your device with itunes.
"Connecting the device may result in this error message: "iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device."
    From:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5229504
So I followed these directions and in step number 5 it was uploading (I believe) for about 30 minutes.  When that was over there was no other directions and the device was still locked.  So I repeated the steps.  This time it restored the device, but when I get on it, I lost all music and pictures, along with a few apps.  The apps are no big deal as they were free downloads, so I can redo those with no problems.  Trying to follow your directions above and clicking through the links, my main problem is that I have no devices showing in itunes.  I just down loaded it today, so it is the latest version.  So what now?

  • Is the SDK the only way to communicate with SBO?

I have a Vb.net 2005 application and would like to interface it with Bussiness One. I've read about the SDK but before getting deep into the learning and development process I would like to know what is the best way to do it. Is using the SDK is the only way? Ive read it only supports up to .Net 2003.  I would appreciate any comments about people that have done this sort of thing using .NET 2005.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Juan,
I think the most important thing is that the programming language and environment is able to use the SAP-B1 COM objects (the two essential DLLs SAPbouiCOM.dll and SAPbobsCOM.dll).
    And:
The Version number 2005 is for Visual Studio (the programming environment). I'm working with B1-SDK and VisualStudio 2005 a long time with no problems. In fact the number 2005 is for marketing-purposes rather  - the real number is Version 8.0.50727.762  here.
The .NET-Framework-Version I'm using is 2.0.50727 SP1 - and I'm sure I could upgrade this without harming the B1 integrity.
    Cheers,
    Roland

  • What is the CORRECT way to sync with Palm device?

Under Tiger, do you still need to open the iSync app before syncing with a Palm device? (mine is a Sony Clie SJ22).
I used to have to sync in this order:
    1. open the iSync app
    2. click "Sync Now" in .Mac Sync in the menu bar
    3. press the Hotsync button on my Clie.
    It worked.
But I just found this support doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302120
which says: "To sync your Palm OS device with iSync, press the HotSync button on the Palm cradle, cable, or the device itself. Both HotSync and iSync should open during the synchronization. Note: You must initiate the sync from the Palm device or the device will be skipped during the iSync sync."
I'm confused. I tried doing it this way and iSync does NOT open automatically when I press the Hotsync button--but the .Mac status in the Menu bar is turning to show it's syncing, and my ical items SEEM to be getting updated.
Can someone help clarify how this is supposed to work? Is this new in Tiger 10.4.4?

The correct way to synchronize a Palm device using iSync 2 or later is to first insure that all three options in the General section or your iSync Preferences… dialog are enabled:
√ Enable syncing on this computer
√  Show HotSync reminder when syncing Palm OS devices
√ Show status in menu bar
The each time your synchronize, you should launch iSync. [Or, alternatively, you should have it launched at login and hidden, so that it is running each time you press your HotSync button.]
The article is mistaken about the HotSync Manager needing to be launched prior to initiating a synchronization, as that task is accomplished whenever you press the HotSync button on your cable or cradle, or otherwise initiate a synchronization event.
It is true that you must initiate it from the Palm device, a cable or a cradle. Selecting Sync Now from beneath the Sync Status item in your menu bar will not launch the HotSync process, and your Palm device will be skipped.
These are substantial changes to iSync, which came with the release of iSync 2 and .Mac Sync under Mac OS X 10.4 about seven months ago, and they are a giant step backward for Palm users.
For that, and many other reasons - including the instability and lack of reliability with iSync 2 and later, I suggest that you take a look at the Missing Sync for Palm OS from Mark/Space:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
It goes a long way toward addressing the long-term short comings of the iSync Palm Conduit by replacing it with three Mark/Space conduits - Contacts, Events and Tasks - and make synchronization of your Palm device a single-button process once again. It circumvents iSync and deactivates the iSync Palm Conduit and the HotSync Manager, eliminating three troublesome components that are a part of your current configuration. Your SONY Clié PEG-SJ22 is one of the many models supported by this package.

My iphone 3g crashed. My calendar and contacts don't appear on itunes.  how do i sync with itunes? should I upgrade operating system first? how to do that?

"My calendar and contacts don't appear on itunes.  "

"how do i sync with itunes? "
You sync as you always have.
"should I upgrade operating system first? "
    If you like.
    "how to do that?"
Open itunes, cconnect iphone.  Itunes should tell you if there is an update avilable or you can click Check for Updates.

  • My phone goes off in any time of the day and the only way to get it back is through pressing and holding of Home and Sleep button together

Like I said in the subject line:
My brand new iPhone 4S/32Gb goes off in any time of the day and the only way to get it back to live is through pressing and holding of the Home and Sleep button together for 5-10 seconds.
Does anybody have that kind of problem as well?
    Thank you.

I restored it on I tunes as well did something on the phone. The lastest seems to have helped it but I haven't used it much yet!  Thanks for the help & I'll let you know!

  • What is the best way to deal with iTunes libraries that have more than 25,000 songs and iTunes match?

    Hello,
My library approaches the 25,000 songs limit from iTunes match mainly because I have a lot of custom mixes with loads of different tracks.
On those songs there are some that I would like iTunes match to ignore. But I still want to keep them in my iTunes library so i can sync them with my ipod and i can keep my metadata tracking. What would be a sensible way to do that?
Duplicate the current iTunes library, and create 2 iTunes libraries children on the same PC, one sync-ed with match and the other not? Would that work with the same apple id // ipod? I just have no clue and apple support is not helping.
thanks in advance for your thoughts

  • The best way to sync identical iTunes libraries on two different hard drives?

I have two external drives dedicated to media, one is a LaCie 2TB, the other is a 320Gb Toshiba, the LaCie has music and movies on it, this is the one I use for iTunes on my MacBook Pro at home. I have just created a new iTunes Library on the Toshiba which I want to be an identical copy of the music folder of the iTunes Library on the LaCie.
My question is; is there a Terminal command that can sync any new music added to the LaCie library as well as new Playlists - settings etc. with the Toshiba library? Or is it a question of just copying across new music files manually, then copying the appropriate iTunes library file? If the latter, which library file should be copied / transferred?

Please note: I can not simply copy the entire iTunes folder across from the LaCie because it is too big for the Toshiba, I will only be updating the music folder.
