Is the only way to zoom on iphone camera to pinch and spread the screen?

Hi there - was at a concert and was impossible to zoom the camera in on the stage using the whole finger spread action (as kept getting knocked etc) - is there a manual way (using buttons to do this) or am I stuck with this modern but not always pracitical method...or does anyone else have any tips for taking good photos at a concert using the iphone camera?

So there are no apps at all on your home screens? Try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. If you don't see anything after that, take a look at all of your home screens and folders to see if something is hidden. It that doesn't work, you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
Now- "DO YOU have any idea,"... how your UNHELPFUL remarks, do absolutely nothing but hurt others that might not have the EXPERIENCE you have? How do you expect people to know things without asking questions? Whew! RUDE!!

That listed 7 hours is with very limited use. Low screen brightness, low keyboard backlight, No WiFi or bluetooth.
Most I have ever gotten from my 15" 2011 model is around 5-6 hours and that was with very light use. Just Web, Chrome, and email, thunderbird, and Wifi.

Then while it was updating an error occured and now itunes is telling me the only way to power up my phone is to restore the whole device. Is it possible to power up my phone without restoring the whole device? Or without loosing everything?

Not if the error says to restore in iTunes. You should have made a backup before the update, so you should be able to restore to that backup. But with the device in recovery mode as it is, there is no way to backup anything at this time. If you did not make a backup before updating then you can only restore to your latest backup, whenever that was. If no backup at all, then you will have to restore the device as new, losing everything.

My phone goes off in any time of the day and the only way to get it back is through pressing and holding of Home and Sleep button together

I restored it on I tunes as well did something on the phone. The lastest seems to have helped it but I haven't used it much yet! Thanks for the help & I'll let you know!

What happened to the toolbar? The only way i can exit this new version is to end the task, cntl/alt/del. I think you screwed up a good thing!!

I no longer have the tool bar. The only way to exit is to use the task manager to exit. Bookmarks, history, nothing is visible. When exiting via the task function, it says the system is waiting for a reply, but nothing shows on screen. There is no way I will upgrade my other computers to this new version of Firefox!!

Since upgrading to OS 8.0.2 my ipad2 freezes, slows down, safari takes forever to open, the celluar network goes to No Service and the only way to fix it is to reboot it and this takes longer than before. Has Microsoft taken over Apple software?

SInce upgrading to OS 8.0.2 my ipad 2 freezes, slows down, safari takes forever to open pages, cellular network goes to No Service requiring a reboot (and this takes longer than before), in summary, I now have a fancy paperweight, i used to love my ipad. I feel as if Microsoft has taken charge of the Apple Software Division.

The glitchy, unresponsive, slow and outright crashes are something you would expect in a less superior product. I paid what I consider a premium because of the perceived integrity of the company and quality of their products. I am not going to go as far to say Apple ***** and so do their products; but they have to to a better job of acknowledging problems and providing recourse. Right now, it "feels" like they don't care about existing customers. I am not sure of the exact #'s, but I believe products like the Ipad2 represent a significant population of their existing Ipad product base.
So what is my specific rant; If Apple is going to take a long time, or worst, NOT fix the problems introduced in IOS 8 for IPAD 2, give us the option of going back to IOS 7. I would say most everyone was extremely happy with their product running under that OS and would migrate back in a heartbeat. By blocking this option, it feels like Apple is saying that the only recourse is to live with crappy performance, wait forever without any real news, or throw away your Ipad 2 and buy a newer model. Right now this is 100% completely unacceptable, and I, as will thousands of others, will watch how this unfolds when we do buy new products. Most technology products only have short, finite lifespan and I would think it is at very least very important to Apple to retain customer base in a highly competitive marketplace. I'm done...

Is the only way to restore my iphone on itunes?

I can also restart my iphone from Settings and it looks as if it gets the same results. Will restarting my iphone to it's factory settings be like getting a brand new phone? A while ago, I went to my local Apple Store and they used a website that gave her the history on that iphone i.e. Unclean reboots will restarting my iphone remove that?

My 4s has once again had the speaker that's at the top of the phone go bad,the only way I can hear is to put all calls on the speaker.I had the Genius Bar run diagnostics and do a reset which did not help. 2nd phone,same prob!!

If you have a concern that someone would guess your four-digit code, try turning off Simple Passcode, and choose a complex alphanumeric passcode. Perhaps that would help.

Once I generated a picture, what is the easiest way to zoom into it?
I.e. Mantaining the same picture size on the screen, but reducing the
field of view on a certain section, in order to make it bigger?

If you are using the picture control in version 6.0 you are out of luck, if I remember correctly, the zoom property was add in version 7.0 ( I could be wrong) . The math is simple on zooming a picture however consisting of a translation and scaling factor only. Lets assume we have a picture in a 600x800 (height pixels by height pixels) to zoom in to the center we use the center pixel (600/2, 800/2) and make the array subset of the zoomed image from center - (height/2)/zoom_factor and a zoomed height of height/zoom_factor and do the same for width. So basically you find the center pixel (need not be the center of the image) and get a subset of the initial image array data with a new height and width both divided by the zoom factor.

The scroll bar for Firefox cannot be controlled by the mouse, the only way I can scroll is with the arrow keys, help!!

I have a brand new Dell Alienware laptop running Windows 7 and I just installed the latest Firefox browser. My problem is that the scroll bar for the browser does not work when using the mouse... the mouse cannot control the scroll bar either by clicking the up or down arrow or by dragging the bar with the mouse. The only way for me to scroll using Firefox is to use the arrow keys on my keyboard.
