Is the Pearl 3G Worth the money???

I dont understand why the Pearl 3G is so much more money compared to the Curve 8520, When the Curve 8520 honestly is alot better than the Pearl 3G
Pearl 3G - £210
Curve 8520 - £160
Why is this Pearl much more expensive than the curve when it is not as good as the curve?

Perhaps they realised that a lot of people didn't want something that looked like a business phone and was larger than normal but wanted the functionality of a Blackberry in something the size of a candy bar phone ? Who knows ? I'm glad they did as it's a great phone . Up until i got this i always used a Nokia but they just seem to be releasing phones with dodgy software , i returned the one i originally got on my last upgrade due to it keep hanging after every call and got the Pearl 3G on the recommendation of the girl i was speaking to at t-mobile and it's turned out , in my opinion , to be a great recommendation . My wifes Nokia was playing up with the software that's why i gave her my original Pearl 3G .
In the end it all boils  down to our own personal preferences , i prefer the 3G you seem to prefer 8520 , everyone is allowed a opinion are they not ?
It would be a strange and boring world if we all liked the same thing !

  • IS THE DROID CHARGE WORTH THE MONEY???

I currently own the original droid and have been researching on my next phone. I have narrowed it down to the Droid Charge or LG Revolution. I leaning towards the Charge. Any suggestion, comments or thoughts.

    Hello happy forum members,
I have the Droid Charge & I absolutely LOVE this device. My favorite feature is the 4G mobile hotspot. This feature is currently free until 7/6/11 as a promo. You can connect up to 10 devices to the internet, all with 4G speeds. Also, I love the 8MP camera. The pictures I took on vacation are superb! I think that you will truly enjoy owning this device. Currently the prices is $299.99 with a new 2-yr agreement. I'm not sure what will the price will be during the holidays but this is a device that I couldn't wait to have! You can do some more research on the device as well as read reviews here.

  • Is the "512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage" on the new mac worth the extra cost?  I am comparing with a refurb with better specs (faster CPU, larger hard drive) and from what I undersand the PCIe flash storage is the big differentiator in cost.

hello - i am considering two macbook pros
    NEW - http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=ME294LL/A&step=config#
    REFURB - http://store.apple.com/us/product/G0ML1LL/A/refurbished-macbook-pro-27ghz-quad-c ore-intel-i7-with-retina-display
The refurb actually has a faster processor and a larger hard drive.  From what I understand, the big difference in cost is the new macbook pro contains "512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage" versus the refurb "768GB Flash Storage".
Is the PCIe flash storage really worth the extra cost (and smaller size)?
PS - Also I believe the brand new one has 2 GB graphics memory as opposed to 1 GB graphics memory.  I don't really care about that as much as I won't be doing a lot of video editing or gaming.

Some are some are not. Otherwise Apple has a ton of Mac's sitting around that have been returned by customers under their 14 day No Questions Asked return policy.
But they not just Returned and Resold. They go back to Apple, checked out (Tested) any parts that are not up to spec replaced and then repackaged in a plain white box to be sold as refurbs.

  • Where to buy the Pearl 9105 in the US?

I've been searching all over the blackberry site as well as all major service providers , and I can't find anyone who sells the new Blackberry Pearl 9105 in the US  (particularly the Boston area)
Has anyone managed to find it? It seems like it is popular in the UK but hasn't been introduced to the US yet?
Thank you for any help you can give me!

Describing the 9105 as "popular" is interesting.  European carriers, in their wisdom, are only supplying the 9105.  The 9100 is not an option.
The place I work "upgraded" me (and other colleagues) to the 9105 and, without ANY exception, everybody hates the T9 keyboard.
After 3+ years of having the compact qwerty keyboard, the change to the T9 keyboard is ho.ri.ble.
I have managed to commadeer an 8110 with a temperimental keypad and awful battery life from the "unused kit" cupboard, and I am happier using that than the 9105 - despite the keyboard problems, slower performance, lack of multimedia keys, 3G and Wi-Fi.
I WISH I could turn my 9105 into a 9100.  If I had a Stateside mate (i.e. person I know and trust) who would swap with me, I'd do it in the blink of an eye.
    BB good. T9 bad.

  • Buying a T520 is the FHD screen worth the extra $200

Im buying a T520 in the next couple of days. My hobby is photography and I edit a lot in LR and PS. I am looking at going over my budget and getting a FHD screen instead of the HD+. Can any one give me any feedback, is it worth the extra $200.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you plan to work with LR and PS FHD does worth extra 200 .
You can downgrade other components like HDD, Video graphics card, no WWAN card, to compensate screen price.
You can upgrade other components in the future, but you can't upgrade the screen.

  • Is the Aluminum MacBook worth the extra $$$ over the new White MacBook

    Hello,
This is going to be my first Mac purchase and am leaning towards the White MacBook over the Aluminum model but I've read a few postings on issues with the White MacBook display...
    Thanks

Having a polycarbonate body, the white may look more fragile than the one piece aluminum but fragile is not a word I'd use to describe it. In the past year I've seen a MacBook that's fallen from a moving motorcycle - the case scuffed up but not broken and diagnostics showed the computer unharmed. Another owner brought in her MacBook that had been run over by a car - the top case cracked but the LCD unbroken and the computer passed diagnostics. I watched a student drop his MacBook as he carried it under his arm, it came to rest opened on the floor and I was certain the top had come loose but no. It was fine. And my own MacBook fell from the desk to a wooden floor and survived unscathed. Obviously others can recount examples where their MacBook was damaged by a fall but these examples indicate that the MacBook might be breakable but it isn't fragile. Not like the Dell notebook I saw fall from a desk this spring and shatter.

  • Is the '11 update worth the hassle that I am reading?

I am a longtime iMovie user and am very hesitant to get the '11 upgrade after reading all of the reviews. I need factual opinions from fellow iMovie veterans. Thanks.

using iM since vers2 ... hope this is veteran enough ...
iM11 is actual the best version of iMovie-b (=iM-a is vers.≤6).
it handles my Cam's AVCHD video perfectly, offers all the 'effects' I need for my home-videos (mainly soccer game documentation), and is fully integrated into iLife suite of apps.
what it lacks: no option for plug-ins (as for more transitions), no option for add-ons (more Themes&Trailers as 'Jam Packs'), no integrated pointers (I'm using the well-known .png trick), the delivered, pre-defined Soccer-theme doesn't hit the needs of this sports (hey, the 'weight' of a player is nonsense, but what about goals, points, places?) ...
technically I don't notice any 'hassle'.

  • Is the GeForce GTX 960 worth the extra cost over the GTX 750 Ti?

Today I acquired an eVGA GeForce 960 FTW card with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM to test against my main PC's existing GeForce GTX 750 Ti (also with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM).
    But first, here's my impetus:
Despite the fact that the GTX 750 Ti was newer than my now-sold GTX 660, I felt that the GTX 750 Ti was a sizable downgrade from the GTX 660 in some ways, and equal to the GTX 660 in others. In particular, the results of the GTX 750 Ti during the encoding test from the PPBM8 MPEG-2 DVD timeline was nearly 30 percent slower than the GTX 660 (50 seconds versus 36 seconds) - but in the encoding test from the H.264 Blu-ray timeline, the two cards were practically equal in performance (at about 135 seconds).
And today, when I shopped for an eVGA GTX 960, I found four different models: The Superclocked edition (slightly overclocked but with the reference NVidia blower-type cooler), the ACX 2.0 (upgraded cooler but only reference GPU and memory clocks), the SSC edition (overclocked to 1279 MHz on the GPU, with the ACX 2.0 cooler) and the FTW edition (ACX 2.0 cooler, overclocked to 1304 MHz). All the listed clock speeds are the non-Turbo clocks.
    Back to my purchase:
At my local chain big-box store, the FTW edition sells for $220 - but another big-box store wants $230 for the SSC edition.
I brought home the FTW edition, and installed it into my i7-4790K main rig. The CPU is set to its default Turbo clocks while the system's DDR3-1600 RAM is set to run at its XMP profile.
Here are the MPEG-2 DVD and H.264 Blu-ray scores with both cards:
    MPEG-2 DVD (MPE On)
MSI GTX 750 Ti OC Edition: 50 seconds
eVGA GTX 960 FTW Edition: 44 seconds
    H.264 Blu-ray (MPE On)
MSI GTX 750 Ti OC Edition: 135 seconds
eVGA GTX 960 FTW Edition: 114 seconds
As one can see, the GTX 960 is 13.6 to 18.4 percent faster than the GTX 750 Ti. However, while my GTX 750 Ti cost $155 (and still costs that much at the big box store I went to earlier in the day - the one that sells the GTX 960 SSC for $230), is the FTW edition of the GTX 960 worth the extra $65? Well, that depends on which GTX 750 Ti and which GTX 960 that you might be considering for a PC based on a mainstream quad-core Intel platform.
So, based on the particular results that I posted in this post, do you think that the GTX 960 is worth the extra bucks over the GTX 750 Ti? I would love to hear/see your opinion(s).

    Randall,
While I certainly value the PPBM6 benchmark to compare various hardware and configuration settings, the GPU performance that is most important to me is simply playing back timelines smoothly with playback set for full resolution (vs. 1/2, 1/4, etc.) and scrubbing with the upmost in responsiveness. It may be difficult to measure playback smoothness, but you can use the dropped frame counter to compare various hardware.
If playback is smooth and I can scrub my timelines effortlessly, then how fast it takes to render a finished project out just really doesn't matter that much.
Even though you are mostly working with 1080 resolution media now, it may not hurt to try some more difficult media as well (aka RED 4k, PPBM H.264 timeline, etc.)
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Should I buy the extreme I'd the express?

Ok. So I am going to get a new airport, I just dont know which one. Really, my main concern is range of the singal. However, I have no 802.11n devices (computers, phones or iPods), and I know that the AE site mentioned 2x range, but it only said that for 802.11n.
So, if I get an Extreme will I get enhanced signal (even though I am not using draft n technology)? If so, is the extra range worth the money?
    Thanks! I appreciate the help!

In addition to Shawn's comments, the Airport Extreme is a simultaneous dual band wireless router.
It produces both a 5 GHz and 2.4 GHZ network, so your newer, faster devices will connect at the much faster 5 GHz speeds.
Older devices will connect to the slower 2.4 GHz network.
The older devices will not slow down the faster devices....as they will do....if you use the single band AirPort Express.
As far as general wireless performance is concerned, the AirPort Extreme uses more wireless antennas, so wireless coverage should be stronger and deeper compared to the Express.
So, it's all about performance. If you want to be up to date and cover yourself for the future, the AirPort Extreme is the way to go.
If you don't care about performance that much, and will primarily be doing some light browsing and email while you are online, then the Express would handle that for you.

  • My iPad (1st gen) screen does not sit flush to the silver band around the side. What can I do about it?

I'm not sure what i can do about this. I have a 64GB 3G iPad which is 14 months old on 25th feb and I have always looked after it. The screen has always been a little off being flush with the sides but its really noticable now.

IMHO, you should have taken it back as soon as you noticed it. If you have bought the extended warranty then I'd take it into the APple store and have them look at it. (barring any signs of obvious abuse it should be covered under manufacturer's defects), but if you have no extended warranty then at 14 months old, it would be out of warranty. You can still take it in, but  you'll probably have to pay for it....so then you'll decide if the repair is worth the money.

  • Is there any way to have an ipad wifi 3G but not use the 3G (therefore avoiding the extra data plan costs) and just use the wifi?

i am looking to buy an ipad 2 or the new ipad (preferably 32gb) but dont want to buy the 3G version as i have unlimited data usage in my mobile phone plan, i know the wifi only ipad is generally cheaper, but i was wondering if there was a way to buy the ipad with 3G capabilities but not use the 3G and avoid the cost of paying the extra unnecessary data plan? (I know this is a really weird question but i have the opportunity to buy a 3G ipad and was curious of the possibility? any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers

    Yes to your questions.
You can download a complete iPad User Guide here: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/ipad_user_guide.pdf
If you want an iPad 2 32GB it will have to be a refurb model. The only new iPas 2 is 16GB.

  • Is the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS worth the money for Final Cut Express?

    Hi,
I'm considering a new iMac 24, but not sure if the speedier on is worth the money.
Currently I use a MacBook Pro 2.2 for Final Cut Express with a 23" cinema (mostly DV, some HD) and that works okay, but won't play back in real time when I composit video.
Anybody know if the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS will help in that area?
    Thanks,
    KC

The speedier video card is great for 3D stuff, but it won't matter a wink for Final Cut Express, which barely makes use of the video card.
Keep in mind that Final Cut is using the CPU, not video card, to perform the editing, decoding, and encoding of the video. The only time the video card comes into play is during playback of the video, and any of the video options available for iMacs will handle that just fine.
When you composite video, the hard-disk throughput will start to come into play. The dinky 5400 RPM disk in your laptop will adversely affect the performance of that.
