Is the Photosmart Premium (309A) being discontinued?

This may be a dumb question, if so, my apologies.  I just purchased the Photosmart Premium last week, and all in all, I am pretty happy with it.  However, I was looking at some other printers on the HP site, and noticed that the Photosmart Premium is no longer listed as an available printer?  I had thought that this was a relatively new model, and was quite surprised not to see it listed anymore.  If it is discontinued, that is a concern to me, as I would not have purchased this model had I known it was on it's way "out" already.

There's no chance it can be discontinued at this point. Maybe the HP site is being updated, so it's temporarily missing. But no way in hell is this discontinued!

  • Scan error on my iMac from Photosmart Premium 309a

    I have lost the ability to scan documents on my Photosmart Premium 309a.
    When I try to run the program from my iMac running Sys 10.6.8, I get an error message that says:
    The HP imaging device was not found.  Try the following steps.  After each step, try scanning again.
    - Turn off and then unplug the device, wait 60 seconds, and plug in and turn on the device.
    - Make sure that the device’s power cord and cable are properly attached, plugged in, and the device is on.
    - Reboot the computer.
    - Uninstall and reinstall the device.
    - Reinstall the HP Scan software that came with the device.
    I can print and fax from the printer, just NOT scan. I have done all the above including reinstall the software.
    I am stumped.

    I would be happy to help you resolve this scanning issue you are having with your C309a. Please complete the following steps and let me know the outcome.  I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Please use the instructions below to complete a more comprehensive uninstall than the standard uninstall.
    Scrub/ Uninstall
    Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
    Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
    * Only do this step if you do not have any other HP Printers.  Hold down Control, Option and Command, While holding the three buttons down,
    Click uninstall.
    Reset Printing System
    Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
    In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
    Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
    Click OK to confirm the reset.
    Type the correct Name and Password.
    Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
    Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Repair Disk Permissions
    On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
    Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
    Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
    Once the repair is complete, restart the computer and the printer.
    Restart the printer. Now you can download and install the printer software and install it. > PS_AIO_05_C309a_Net_Full_Mac_WW_102.dmg

    I had a different but simllar problem with my c309 awhile ago. Check regular black ink level,no matter what the software says the level is,or possible dirty cartrige (black) Good luck!    Larryt64

  • HP Photosmart Premium 309a not printing to Printable CD

    OS = Windows XP
    Connection from laptop to c309a is USB
    Can print from MS WORD to c309a
    Can print from HP Solution Center application to 309a to print paper CD labels.
    CANNOT print from HP Solution Center application to printable CD installed in c309a.
          1. After setting up printable disc image in HP supplied Solutions Center application, clicking on PRINT results in message being displayed that reads
    Tried:
    1. Downloading completely new driver from HP website... the total driver was installed, not the basic version. Successfu except for a message that came up saying the c309a was not connected to the computer. The choices were to select a USB cable connection or wireless connection or a network connection.  I selected USB and made sure (numberous times) the cable was connected (vreified because I can print for MS WORD and from the HP Solutions application to paper. When checked afterward notice was presented that said driver was up to date.
    2. From the HP Solutions application prepared an image from one of the templates (tried several templates) that is supposed to print directly onto a printable CD.
        a.  When the PRINT was clicked on the following error msg appeared, "The application is unable to communicate with the printer".
             i. When clicking on PRINT the HP Solutions application jumps to a window that displays various options for ordering prints from HP online as well as some other choices.  Net result, no printing to CD takes place.
    2. Called HP Tech Support, three different people.
        a. Suggested disconnecting power cable from wall outlet and also disconnect power cable from back of c309a and wait for 30 seconds before reconnecting.
             i. Did that... noting different happened.  Same problem, unable to print to a printable CD.
             ii. Final person said the printer is out of warranty and not servicable.  Buy a new one!
    PS The c309a works with a USB cable connection for computer 1.  A second computer successfully accesses the c309a wirelessly for printing the same as computer 1.
           The tray that holds the CD retracts from its printing position when the timeout occurs for the printer to go into sleep mode.

    Check the vent tape as shown in the page here, click the + next to the 0xc19a0013 error.  If the steps in that page do not resolve the issue try soaking the printhead as discussed here.

    The Photosmart Premium C309 would not be compatible with the Chromebooks in the traditional way. With that being said, you can attempt to add the printer to Google Cloud Print. The steps are shown here: Using Google Cloud Print with your HP Printer, under HP classic printers.

  • HP PhotoSmart Premium C310 - Windows 8 and Office 2013 - Where have the page sizes gone

    I have just upgraded to Office 2013 on my windows 8 PC.
    Now when I goto print, and click "printer properties" evert drop down is blank, and all the titles are in Chinese. HELP please.
    Also the page size options have now lost useful things like A4, Letter etc.
    Technet says to upgrade my printer drivers, but I'm on the latest ones, I can't contact support, as It says my printer is no under warranty support any more. I don't have fault with the printes, its with the driver. Please HP help.
    I can supply screen shots of the issue, but could not work out how to post them here!

    So only print functions and printer-related settings are in another language?  Did you use the installation disc that came with the printer or did you download the software from the HP Website?
    Here is a video on how to uninstall the HP driver from Windows 8 in case you can not understand the words.  And here is a link to the Photosmart Premium C310 Full Feature Software and Drivers for a Windows 8 64-bit PC in United Kingdom.  When I went to www.hp.com/support, I selected your country first and then chose the Software and Drivers section after that.  You will want to click the "Download" button and follow those instructions.  I hope this helps you.  Let me know if this provides for you the proper driver.

    That all depends on which photosmart premium you are talking about. There is the photosmart premium all in one, and photosmart premium fax all in one which have 10.4 software. The identifier numbers on them would be c309g, and c309a.
    If however you have the newer model, the photosmart premium e-all in one, or premium fax e-all in one, there is no 10.4 software. These models are the c410a, and the c310.
    Generally the identifier number is under the lid you open to change the inks.

  • Photosmart premium all in one

    We are considering purchasing one of the Photosmart premium all in one printers but noticed it only specifies printing number 10 business sized envelopes.  Is this the only size it will do?  My wife does a lot of invitations and many of them are in envelopes that are about 5X7 and if this machine will not handle that, then it is not acceptable. 
    Please be as specific as you can in responding and include any other printer with the same or similar features otherwise that will handle the envelopes.

    The latest Vista drivers for this printer on THIS page shows one of the enhancements as supporting Windows 7. So it should install fine. Do notice that this is the v.13 software.
    EDIT: Just downloaded the version 13 software, and tried installing it. It seemed to go through fine, though I don't have the printer physically here. Check the screenshot.

    I understand when you scan a document to your computer, you would like a option to print. I will do my best to assist you! Please reference the Photosmart Premium C309G Manual here. The manual doesn't state you can perform this feature. It does states you can scan to, then reprint a photo.

  • Access SD wireless on Photosmart Premium C309g-m

    We have a wireless enviroment setup around a timecapsule with a macbook and a netbook (windows XP) and of course the Photosmart Premium C309g-m. The issue is accessing data on SD cards in the printer. Often I´ll scan something to a SD card which is permanently placed in the printer, I guess I use this as a kind of local memory. From the netbook all data on the memory card is easily accesible in file-viewer as a network drive, I´ve never had to set this up or anything. From the macbook I have not had any succes trying to access the data (i.e. my scanned docs) on the SD card - how can this be!!!
    Anybody can help?

    Switching from WEP to WPA seems to have fixed the re-connection problem also.  After powering down/up the printer now seems to get successfully reconnected.  Thanks again for the super support I've received on these issues!

    I afraid the Photosmart Premium C309 does not support the ePrint feature, as you may find listed below:

    You may print over the local network from supported mobile devices using the HP ePrint Home & Biz, but remote cloud printing is not supported.

  • Is anyone having an issue with the hp photosmart premium c310a? I keep getting a "paper jam" error

    I hope someone from hp is monitoring these posts. I am very disappointed with the new photosmart premium eAll-in-one. I just bought this printer in april and recently when printing, an error message "paper jam" will pop up after just printing 1 or 2 pages. I did all the recommended troubleshooting steps hp has online but after printing a couple pages error message comes back. And thats not even the worst part! I called hp tonight 4 TIMES to get this issue resolved because at this point I want a new printer sent to me! I have been hung up on 2 times and then told the other times that I need to talk to a case manager. Guess what? No case manager available to talk about my printer issue!! I spoke to 6 different representatives with NO help to be found. I cannot return to staples store where I bought it because its after the 14 day return policy hp has with staples. That is the MOST STUPIDEST policy I have ever heard of!! If I knew in advance that I could not return this printer to the store I got it from after 14 days have passed, I would have NEVER BOUGHT IT!! I am still waiting for a case manager to call me back so that I can get this thing picked up ad a new one sent to me.

    Try this:
    Apple menu / System Preferences / Network.
    Click Location: and select Edit Locations..
    Click + (plus sign), and enter a name for the new location - anything will do.
    Apply this.
