Is the power cord covered under warranty?

i was just wondering because mine is already ruined and it's only a couple months old. there's a cut in the cord leading to the computer from the block and the plug part that goes into the computer also has rips on the cord. is this covered?

Yes it's covered under your computers warrenty. Take it to the Apple Store for repairs.

  • Is the power adapter covered under Apple Care?

I wrap the cord on my power adapter about twice per day going between home, school, and work. Consequently, the power cord has begun to fray where it comes out of the white power supply. Is a replacement power supply covered under Apple Care?

    Dorianj,
I would be interested to hear what Apple says regarding warranty coverage for your power supply. I had a slight, but annoying, problem with my Powerbook G4 adapter where the two-pronged wall adapter would not stay rigidly straight in the wall socket. Result was that it would slide out of the wall socket and lose its connection. I called Apple under my extended Applecare warrantly and they said that a replacement (only $10 anyway, but still...) was not covered as the problem was related to my use and handling. The tech on the phone conceded that if I had said that the adapter wasn't working it could have been replaced under the warranty. Of course he said he couldn't change the information on my "case" once that was entered.
Hope this experience is hellpful and please post back on your results.

  • HT1941 is the power adapter covered under apple care?

mine seems to have frayed over time. The computer is still under apple care.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If it came with your Mac, it's covered by AppleCare, so Apple will replace it for free if the power adapter is broken

  • HT1349 I would like to know if the power lock button is covered under warranty.

I would like to know if the power lock button is covered under warranty.

couple of quick questions, when was your purchase date I.E. are you within 90 days of purchase, if so i suggest calling iOS/iPhone support, as you're within your 90 days of complimentary phone service and they could answer the question along with getting everything set up to for a repair, either through mailing in, or with an appointment at your closest apple retail store. also, did you get the applecare+? that covers two incidents of accidental damage for about 49 dollars to replace, as opposed to the price of an uncovered replacement which can start at 4 times as much. if its not accidental damage, you should be covered.

  • Does a Laptop Warranty Cover the Power Cord?

Hi, I bought a HP Envy Touchsmart 15 and it is still covered by warranty.   However, I cannot find any support help online such as  the support chat which I find very odd since I just used it about a month ago when my battery died!  Where did all the support go?
Anyways, when I plug in my laptop, the LED by the power port does not come on, and my laptop will not charge or turn on at all.  My battery is dead, but I know it works becasue it is less than a month old.  Since my laptop will not run on AC power even with the battery removed, I feel the power cord is the problem.
I would really like to know if my warranty covers the power cord, and if so how do I contact HP, since there is absolutley no information when I go to "Contact Us" besides the consumer forums.
I am a ECE student at UT in Austin, and every day I go without a laptop is hurting my grades.  So I need help ASAP

    Hi
Yes, power cord, adapter are covered under limited warranty. HP would replace it for you if it's faulty.

  • Genius told me that my power adapter was NOT covered under warranty. ?????

Not too happy with my Apple store as of late. First I bring in my defective iPhone power adapter for a replacement and was told I had to schedule an appointment with a "Genius". I guess it takes a genius to plug in a power adapter and see that it doesn't work. Of course the next available appointment was 2 days away. So....I leave, make an appointment, come back 2 days later and the Genius tells me that the power adapter is not covered under warranty. Is this correct???? This is crazy. He actually told me that I could just buy another one there for $29 or find one on Ebay.
I don't even really have much use for the power adapter, but I find it very hard to believe that it is not covered under the same 1 year warranty as the phone.
    Is this true?
    Thanks.

I have had to deal with the "genius bar" for 4 weekends straight now, with one more weekend to go. All to simply get my Apple iPhone bluetooth replaced. They gave me a refurbished one which was still broken, and they didnt know how to even use their own software to do the rma. So far my worst experience with a store in a very long time and I have no plans of doing business with Apple through one of their "genius bars" ever again. Heck, I had to show the so called iPhone genius how to pair the headset with the phone. Quite pathetic.

  • Are power adapters covered under the protection plan?

Are power adapters covered under the protection plan, or should I just go to a store and buy a new one?

Yes they are. Call Apple and talk to them and as long as your under warranty you should be OK

  • Problem with the speakers on iPhone 4s; is it covered under warranty

The speaker on my iPhone stopped working. How to fix or is it covered under warranty?

If the phone wasn't abused or water damaged, all parts are covered by the warranty.  It's up to Apple to determine whether the phone was subjected to physical abuse - no one here can tell you.
Before taking it to Apple, try the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide, Appendix B:  Restart, Reset, Restore using a backup, Restore as new, without using a backup.

  • HT4619 What is the hole under the power cord for?

Wondering how to turn my iMac back on after a power surge.  Happened once before and was able to reset it by unplugging cord, holding down start button, then reattaching power cord and pressing the start button again.  This only worked when I took it to the Mac outlet store though.  When I try this, it doesn't work.  Outlets and power source (aps) have power.  Trying to avoid a trip with my 27" iMac to the store.
is the hole under the power cord a reset?
    Thanks

    Deborah,
Here are the specific steps for performing a SMC reset just so it's clear (note bolded bits):
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Dave
P.S. If this doesn't work, repeat the process again only bypassing your APS conditioner completely this time using a standard AC wall outlet for testing/powering your mac. The APS unit may have an internal fault of some sort.

  • So I have an I Pad that will not charge. This is the second time that this situation has occurred the first time it was covered under warranty (But not this time). So they offered me a new old one for $250.00 and 90 day warranty. Seems like the life if th

Any thoughts about my second go around with an I pad that will not charge. This is second go around and I'm wondering if I should repalce or opt out and go different route ???? Can not imagin that Apple could give the type of support  I'm recieving and continue?? The first one was under warranty not so lucky this time.

Go to the Apple Store and try a different charger & cable.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

Did you purchase Apple Care prior to your 1 year warranty expiring?

  • Does the battery recall affect the power cord jack?

My computer battery is part of the recall. However in addition to the battery problem, the jack where the power cord plugs in is not working. I brought it to an authorized repair location and was told the "bronze wore off" and that the entire interior piece would have to be replaced. At a cost of approximately $500. since it is 2 years old. My question is this: could the faulty battery have affected the jack and therefore shouldnt this problem be covered under the recall?
    ibook g4   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Absolutely. And if they give you a hassle about it at the apple store explain to them quietly that a policy which does not factor into account the damage caused by defective parts is a marketing strategy that is admonishing the proper use of a computer. Furthermore it relegates the status of a consumer to the level of non-interest in furthering the aim of the company.
Hows that? It's the best I could come up with but in light of the trouble with the SEC that this and other companies are facing this should be ample enough ammunition to accomplish the mission [but don't hassle with applecare take it to the store unless you have a warranty and in that case it would be covered].

  • Power brick covered under AppleCare?

I'm having some odd issues that seem to be the fault of my power brick (but who knows?). If I leave my PowerBook G4 1.67 Ghz machine plugged in for 10+ hours or so, the computer will stop recognizing that it has power. The light goes out from the ring where the cord plugs into my powerbook, and the battery slowly drains if the machine isn't asleep.
Unplugging and plugging back in the power cord doesn't work. The only thing that works is unplugging the power cord from my surge protector and plugging that back in. Or, removing the brick extension cord and reattaching it to the brick.
Has anyone had similar problems and/or know if the brick is covered under AppleCare?

the power unit is covered by the same warranty/applecare cover that applies to the device it came with
from your description imho it is more likely that the power unit is faulty than that a fault with the pb is causing it to shut down

  • How to get a new power cord? (iPod warranty)

I need a new power cord, thanks for your help!

If the power cord is damaged and you didn't cause the issue, the warranty covers it. Simply take the iPod and the power cord to an Apple Store to get another power cord for free, making an appointment at the Genius Bar > http://www.apple.com/retail
