Is the rendering essential before export with AME?

Hello guys!
My sequence has red and yellow lines. This means I have to render it for preview. I don't want to render it because I 'm sure for the preview result (I did the same with other projects)
It needs to be rendered before the export with AME or not?
I'm not sure, but once I forgot to render warp stabilization effect and the blue line appeared on my footage...

Hi Yiotal,
You should not have to render before exporting a project either through the integrated or stand-alone version of AME.  If you got a blue line in your footage, it must have been a bug in PP/AME.  I've had errors exporting projects when using linked AE projects, so outputting bugs do exist.
Rendering is meant for smooth playback while editing (especially clips with a red bar.  Any decent system will do fine with the yellow bars).  Even if you do render everything before exporting, never use those render files in your output (i.e. make sure the 'Use Previews' box is UNchecked).  I've done some tests and the image quality you get when using render files is inferior.
Hope this helps!

    Wild guess: you're using the the wrong export settings. You'll need to tell us more before we can help you - like the export settings you're usng, the size and format of the originals etc.

  • Is Rendering automatic before Export to Compressor?

    Hi, I have some automatic compression set for 45 minutes, but I sent a sequence to Compressor and used 2 settings [ProRes 422 and NTSC DV] for the sequence. The sequence had a green line above it, so I assumed it was already rendered for the Color Correction. However on looking at the sequence later it was "finished" and blue....
    I'm wondering if I sent a rendered or unrendered file to Compressor. I thought I would be blocked from sending the file if it were not completely rendered...
    Thanks

    Just to clarify, if you're using the *File > Export > Using Compressor* method, you can export unrendered material and, as mentioned, Compressor will render filters & effects from FCP directly into the new file. However, the only circumstance where I've seen this as being beneficial is when exporting directly an MPEG-2 encode. Having Compressor render material directly into the MPEG-2 stream usually results in a pronounced difference (especially for extensive color correction) if you're using a lower quality editing codec (DV, in particular).
    Other type of (interframe) compressed encodes (MPEG-4, H.264, MPEG-1) don't benefit quite as much. In fact, I don't think it makes a bit of difference for h.264 material (like encoding for iPods). Same for transcodes (8-bit Uncompressed to DV, DVCPro to ProRes422, etc). In those cases, it's best - from a quality vs time needed standpoint - to render in FCP, then have Compressor perform the transcode from an exported reference movie.

  • Experiencing video drift when exporting with AME, suggestions?

    Hi,
    I am trying to export fairly long videos (1 to 2 hours) using AME as H264/mp4 files. The original footage is an avi file. I have tried any number of presets and several different custom settings, but regardless, get audio and video that start to drift after about 10 minutes. Does any one have suggestions about what causes this, how to trouble shoot it, and how I might be able to remedy it?
    Thanks for any input,
    Sarah

    The avi files have been captured from VHS tapes using sony vegas.
    Often, when analog material is captured to digital via an A-D (Analog to Digital) capture card, there will be a tendency to have OOS, though it is usually constant and does not drift. This is also easily spotted in PrPro. This does not seem to be your case at all, as you do not experience any OOS (constant, or dynamic) in PrPro - only upon Export.
    I downloaded the Digital Video Repair and it gives me a message that it can't read the files.
    That Digital Video Repair cannot read from your DV-AVI files is puzzling. They should open right into that program, without a hiccup. Now, the H.264's will not open in that utility, and that would be expected.
    From your screen-cap, I see that your H.264 Audio is AAC. This is a Mac Audio format. In your Export settings, can you choose PCM/WAV?
    As another test, Can you Export from PrPro as a DV-AVI Type II file with PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit Audio and then Open that resulting file in QT Pro? From there, choose Export and choose the H.264 format. Test the resulting file in QT Player for OOS.
    Could you tell me how I determine which H264 codecs I have?
    Back in G-Spot, there is Tables for Audio and Video CODEC's. It will list all CODEC's installed on your machine with their names and details. Do not be alarmed, when it shows a bunch of MainConcept MPEG CODEC's as "broken." This is a false positive, because of the naming convention that Adobe uses, when it installs these CODEC's. While there might be other reasons for this, let's basically say that Adobe "hides" these CODEC's, so that other programs cannot overwrite them, or otherwise break them. Again, do not be alarmed by this. All you want to do is find out which H.264 CODEC you have.
    The reason for my question is that some folk have had better luck with the Apple, or with the MainConcept, than with the other. There seems no rhyme or reason why one works better for some people, than the other, but reports seem to be about 50:50 on which one works best in the particular instances. If one does not do a good job, it seems that in most cases, the other one will. Why? I haven't a clue.
    Good luck, and hope that the meeting goes well,
    Hunt

  • Why does the rendering stop when exporting in Premier 2014?

    I am running Premiere 2014 on Windows 7. I have a fairly simple sequence (without audio) that I'm trying to export in H264. Every time I attempt this, the progress bar stops at the same point and it never completes.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Break it apart and try to find the spot of stall. For example, if you get 3/4 through as your progress bar indicates, in/out or work area the first half and render out, then render out the last half. Or, render out the first half, then the next quarter, then the next eigth.

  • HELP! What are the settings to export with the highest quality (I will show my project in a cinema.)

    Hello,
    I have a project I will be showing at a local cinema, and I need to have the best possible quality for that......
    My source footage is SD, so I am exporting it as a MPEG2-DVD project, the first time I exported (with the default MPEG2-DVD settings) and burned it, it looked good (at least on my 34" TV) but I am not sure if that quality will be as good when projected on a cinema screen...
    So, what I need to know is, which of the MPEG2-DVD export settings I must change in order to get the quality I am looking for.....
    BTW I am using Adobe Premiere CS4 and the whole Creative Suite 4....
    Thanks in advance
    Al

    If it looks good on your tv it will look good at the cinema.
    The resolution will still be 720x480/576 if a dvd player is hooked up to the projector.

    I have problem when exporting with AME - the export failed to render
    I'm doing the same workflow for about 2-3 years- exporting sequence of about an hour 1080P to h.264 (HD) and mpeg2DVD to burn on CD (cant wait to finish with this DVD old workflow),
    like I said the render every now and then failed and my workaround is to turn CUDA off in  AME what solve it but its extremely slow
    I'm not sure how it is on CC 2014 'cause I'm working on older project and havent moved to 2014, anyway I've updated my quadro 2000d.
    I think it got something to do with the adjustment layers, most of the time when I'm not using them it renders, but of course I need to use them.

  • [Forum FAQ] How do I limit the rendering extension of a report in Report Manager?

    Question:
    There are scenarios that users need to disable some rendering extensions for some specific report. Since the rendering extension is configured for all report, if we modify anything in rsreportserver.config file, it will apply to all reports. How to achieve
    this kind of requirement?
    Answer:
    Since disabling some extensions is only applying for specific reports, we can’t directly modify the configuration file. However, we can have a workaround to achieve this goal on HTML page level. We can embed javascript code in Report page to hide the rendering
    extensions in export format list based on the name of report.
    Open the Report.aspx, the default location is
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS12.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportManager\Pages
    Add the Javascript code below into the file:
    <script language = "Javascript">
    //javascript: get parameter from URL
    function getParameter(paraStr, url)
        var result = "";
        //get all parameters from the URL
        var str = "&" + url.split("?")[1];
        var paraName = paraStr + "=";
        //check if the required parameter exist
        if(str.indexOf("&"+paraName)!=-1)
            //if "&" is at the end of the required parameter
            if(str.substring(str.indexOf(paraName),str.length).indexOf("&")!=-1)
                //get the end string
                var TmpStr=str.substring(str.indexOf(paraName),str.length);
                //get the value.
                result=unescape(TmpStr.substr(TmpStr.indexOf(paraName) + paraName.length,TmpStr.indexOf("&")-TmpStr.indexOf(paraName) -
    paraName.length));
            else
                result=unescape(str.substring(str.indexOf(paraName) + paraName.length,str.length));
        else
            result="Null";
        return (result.replace("&",""));
    var timer2;
    var dueTime2=0
    function RemoveCTLExportFormats(format)
                    dueTime2 += 50;
                    if(dueTime2 > 30000)
                                    clearTimeout(timer2);
                                    return;
                    var obj=document.getElementsByTagName("Select");
                    for(var i=0;i<obj.length;i++)
                                    if (obj[i].title == "Export Formats")
    var k = -1;
    for(var j = 0; j < obj[i].length; j ++)
    if(obj[i].options[j].value.toLowerCase() == format.toLowerCase())
    k = j;
    obj[i].options.remove(k);
    clearTimeout(timer2);
    return;
                    timer2=setTimeout("RemoveCTLExportFormats('" + format + "')",50);
    function RemoveOption(report, format)
                    if(getParameter("ItemPath", location.href).toLowerCase() == report.toLowerCase())
                                    timer2=setTimeout("RemoveCTLExportFormats('" + format
    + "')",50);
                    else
                                    return;
    RemoveOption("1", "Excel");
    </script>
    Then we just need to pass the report full path and the export format into RemoveOption function to disable the export format. For example: RemoveOption("/ReportSamples/report1", "Excel");
    Since the javascript is loaded before rendering the report, we have to make the function to run every few milliseconds. This is not efficient and there is such a lot of code. To simplify the code and improve the performance, we can use JQuery to directly get
    the export format we want based on title. So we can change the javascript code into the JQuery code below:
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        $(function () {
            var result = new RegExp('[\?&]ItemPath=([^&#]*)').exec(window.location.href)[1];
            var reportName = result.split('%2f')[result.split('%2f').length - 1];
            if (reportName == "1") {
                $("a[title='Excel']").hide();
    </script>
    The result looks like below:
    Applies to:
    Reporting Services 2005
    Reporting Services 2008
    Reporting Services 2008 R2
    Reporting Services 2012
    Reporting Services 2014

    Hi Grégory
      Thanks for answering . . .
       How is this different from any other conditional formatting?  I'm sorry, but I really don't understand.  If I can change the color of text based on a condition or conditionally suppress a detail row, why can't I change the row background color based on the toggle state when the textbox is toggled?  If it's just not possible, then how is textbox.togglestate used?  Is is only used to set the initial toggle state programmatically?
        I'm really confused.  Clearly, an event is fired when you toggle a textbox.  The screen gets refreshed.  I don't understand why I can't conditionally color a row based on the toggle state of a text box.  Please help me understand - or guide to a place that explains how that textbox property is used.
    Thanks!

  • Error message ''Disk Full' when trying to export with CS6, works fine in 5.5

    I get an error message when I try to export media in Premiere CS6 that I don't have in CS5.5
    I use export media for a AVCHD 60fps sequence with a few photoshop images on top of the main track. In the export settings I choose ''match sequence settings'' which gives me a .mpeg I- frame, 1920 x 1080 P, 60fps, quality 50, and a I tick the ''use maximum render quality'' check box at the bottom.
    It used to work fine but now I get a message: Disk Full where there is 1.5 TB free on the disk?
    I have the exact same sequence made in Premiere Pro CS 5.5 and it exports fine.
    It started to act weird after I used the queue for the first time and it went to the CS6 encoder.
    Since I used that once and it gave me that message for the first time, even when I try to do the same thing directly in Premiere CS6 , I always get the same error message.
    Question 2, is there a place to change the settings from 50 to 100 for the quality of this export profile?
    By the way I can export with other profiles without problems but this setting is the only one that I've seen that lets me keep my 60 frames per second in the export
    process. (Example: I can export this sequence in the H.264, 1920 x 1080, 30fps, high quality preset, using the maximum render quality in CS6)

    Hi Guys,
    Thanks for the input but if you read my message correctly and until the end I already can export to other settings and I want an answer to this problem. There's no logical explanation to why this suddenly wouldn't work with the same sequence that it used to do fine with and that CS 5.5 handles fine.
    As I said earlier this is the only setting that lets me export my sequence with the 60 fps, that I know of, for further and easier manipulation. As my main camera provides me with these 60 fps I'd really like to be able to have them left in that transition phase and, no, I'm not gonna give up until I know, really, what's going on and solve that problem. If this is a bug it needs to be fixed, if not I want to know what's happening.
    Also there's no answer to my question 2: Question 2, is there a place to change the settings from 50 to 100 for the quality of this export profile?
    So for you experts out there the question is still hanging.

  • What is the CORRECT way to sync with Palm device?

    Under Tiger, do you still need to open the iSync app before syncing with a Palm device? (mine is a Sony Clie SJ22).
    I used to have to sync in this order:
    1. open the iSync app
    2. click "Sync Now" in .Mac Sync in the menu bar
    3. press the Hotsync button on my Clie.
    It worked.
    But I just found this support doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302120
    which says: "To sync your Palm OS device with iSync, press the HotSync button on the Palm cradle, cable, or the device itself. Both HotSync and iSync should open during the synchronization. Note: You must initiate the sync from the Palm device or the device will be skipped during the iSync sync."
    I'm confused. I tried doing it this way and iSync does NOT open automatically when I press the Hotsync button--but the .Mac status in the Menu bar is turning to show it's syncing, and my ical items SEEM to be getting updated.
    Can someone help clarify how this is supposed to work? Is this new in Tiger 10.4.4?

    The correct way to synchronize a Palm device using iSync 2 or later is to first insure that all three options in the General section or your iSync Preferences… dialog are enabled:
    √ Enable syncing on this computer
    √  Show HotSync reminder when syncing Palm OS devices
    √ Show status in menu bar
    The each time your synchronize, you should launch iSync. [Or, alternatively, you should have it launched at login and hidden, so that it is running each time you press your HotSync button.]
    The article is mistaken about the HotSync Manager needing to be launched prior to initiating a synchronization, as that task is accomplished whenever you press the HotSync button on your cable or cradle, or otherwise initiate a synchronization event.
    It is true that you must initiate it from the Palm device, a cable or a cradle. Selecting Sync Now from beneath the Sync Status item in your menu bar will not launch the HotSync process, and your Palm device will be skipped.
    These are substantial changes to iSync, which came with the release of iSync 2 and .Mac Sync under Mac OS X 10.4 about seven months ago, and they are a giant step backward for Palm users.
    For that, and many other reasons - including the instability and lack of reliability with iSync 2 and later, I suggest that you take a look at the Missing Sync for Palm OS from Mark/Space:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
    It goes a long way toward addressing the long-term short comings of the iSync Palm Conduit by replacing it with three Mark/Space conduits - Contacts, Events and Tasks - and make synchronization of your Palm device a single-button process once again. It circumvents iSync and deactivates the iSync Palm Conduit and the HotSync Manager, eliminating three troublesome components that are a part of your current configuration. Your SONY Clié PEG-SJ22 is one of the many models supported by this package.

  • APPCC crashes on queue export to AME with AE comp links

    I am experiencing crashes every time I try to export sequences to the AME queue that contain after effects composition links. It does not seem to make any difference if the sequences are rendered or not.
    i7
    GTX770
    16gb RAM
    1TB/500G SSDs
    APPCC 2014.2

    The format I had tried are H.264. In the AME preview its black too. How do you do a reinstall of After Effects CC? Will that affect my trial?
    Go to the Applications/Adobe After Effects CC folder and double-click on the Uninstall Adobe After Effects CC shortcut. Reinstalling should not have an affect on your trial period, as long as you remain signed in to Creative Cloud on that computer.
    Before doing that, though, please post a screenshot of 1) your AE comp, 2) the AME queue with that comp loaded, and 3) the Export Settings dialog for that comp.
    You should also try resetting the preferences for both AE and AME. The top of this page has instructions for AE; I recommend deleting the files manually instead of using the keyboard shortcuts. AME's preferences files are in a similar location. Mind that the user Library folder is hidden on recent versions of Mac OS.  (After Effects CC is version 12.0, and AME CC is version 7.0.)
    Another question is since I have CS6 and CC programs can I remove CS6 AME and streamline everything into AME CC? Since its a duplication of programs taking up disk space.
    In order to properly remove AME CS6 you would need to remove all CS6 applications that reference it (in your case, Flash Pro CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6). Please note that you should always use the uninstaller applications; don't try to throw the applications in the trash, which will cause problems if you later need to reinstall.

    I am in the process of exporting an Imovie project back to my video camera for storage on a tape. When I start the export process I get a message that says clips need to be rendered prior to exporting. When I click the button to render clips Imovie goes through the process of rendering the clips and after several minutes the Imovie project starts to export to the camera and runs for about 2 seconds and the Imovie quits.
    Imovie also gives the option of not rendering the clips.
    Do i need to render the clips before exporting them to my video camera?

    Does the project reside on an external drive? If so, make sure the drive uses the Mac OS Extended disk format, which iMovie requires.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4176921#4176921
    The crashes are most likely occurring because of external factors, not because of a flawed rendering routine. These can include the wrong disk format, QuickTime add-ons and obsolete iMovie plug-ins.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2920540#2920540
    Do i need to render the clips before exporting them to my video camera?
    It may depend on what type of clips they are. If they are photos imported with the Ken Burn checkbox turned OFF — which are not rendered as they are imported — iMovie will ask to render them. Do NOT allow iMovie to render the photos at this time for there's a bug that adds lots of jaggies to the images, reducing their quality.
