Is the Sattelite L755-S5216 (Win7, SP1) compatable with the Windows 10 free upgrade?

Hi,I'd like a response from someone with Toshiba. I assume the company monitors this board, though I know it is staffed by volunteers. I tried e-mailing my questions directly to support, but  my queries were returned. . Anyway...Has Toshiba developed a compatability guide identifying any issues with the upgrade and my product. If so, please send me a link to it; if not, when can such a guide be expected? As you know, Microsoft begins rollout on July 29th, so time is short and I need make a decision to reserve quickly. Thanks...

Guides haven't been published yet, but people are working on them.
We expect that the majority of Windows 7 models will be compatible, but this isn't final.
As a quick aside, what e-mail were you using? Support doesn't offer e-mail services.

It sounds like the iPad wasn't erased to me. If the iPad is totally cleared of content, there should be nothing on it and no backup to create.
Without connecting the iPad to your computer - Launch iTunes on you computer and go to Edit>Prefences>Devices. Do you see an iPad backup in there? If you do see it, delete it.

  • Cookies are written to the cookie file but sites are not finding them. I've tried all the suggestions I could find. I'm using OS 10.5.8 Could there be something in the OS causing the problem? My Win7 laptop works with the same sites.

I cannot log-in to accounts on other websites e.g. eBay, Amazon, for starters. I get messages that I need to turn on cookies. They are on and I can see the cookies in the cookie file but the programs are not making the connections and not finding the cookies. I've found that I have the same problem with Safari and Camino. Could something in the OS be interfering and if so, how can I fix this? The problem only exits on my Mac with OS 10.5.8 On my new Windows 7 laptop Firefox has no problem logging into any of my existing accounts.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

How much of a hurry are you in, and are you considering upgrading to Lion?
File Vault on Snow Leopard only encrypts home folders you select, and doesn't work well with Time Machine.
But Lion will have "full disk encryption" of local or external disks.  See File Vault 2 here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/features.html

  • Where's the music on iTunes, and what's with the quality and compatibility?

I'm just curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue or not: Does anyone else feel like, after searching for specific songs, there's just little to nothing in the database? I feel like most of my searches are pointless because iTunes has either no data of my requested search and/or only has bits and pieces of it.
Another question I have: After having a slightly successful search, why am I left with low quality tunes? I mean, you can hear the compression... badly. (I know it's not my speakers)
Last question: If I'm paying for the song, shouldn't I be allowed to download a universal file? iTunes uses a unique format that no other application uses. In other words, more money has to be spend for m4a to mp3 converters (unless you're a cracker [not a racial comment]).
To me, I value iTunes and its team, so I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. I understand there are contracts involved with the artists and it's hard to please ALL of the subscribers. But seriously, where's the music on iTunes, and what's with the quality and compatibility?
Custom   Windows XP Pro   Negative, I am a meat popsicle.

Today I thought of finally putting lyrics on my songs. So I've been quite some time busy doing that, then I tried it on my iPad (2) and I can't find them. Just as the people above say. Then I went to search where I can find them and I found this page. I'm really dissapointed and I don't understand how something like this could happen. So I hope Apple will fix this soon.

  • Is the Ultimate Ears Super fi 4vi headset compatable with the iPhone 3G?

I am thinking of getting the Ultimate Ears Super fi 4vi headset. Will it be compatable with the iPhone 3G?
    http://www.ultimateears.com/ultimateears/products/superfi/superfi4videscription.php
If it is compatable, is it any good?

Ah thank you. I actually just went to the Apple Store in Rosevelt Field (I'm a fellow NY resident as well ) They unfortunately never heard of Ultimate Ears and only had the V-moda vibes. I decided to not purchase the V-moda vibes today because i dont think it would be wise just because they were in the store and the Ultimate Ears were not.
I'm on LI.. So i think a trip to the apple store on 5th is probably not worth the trip. I'll probably just order them from Apple.
I'm still leaning towards Ultimate Ears, are they really that devoid of bass? All of the reviews on the apple store seem to say theres no bass at all.
How do they compare to say the default iphone buds?
I'd rather not have bass that is destroying the other frequencies. I like bass, but i like mids and highs as well. I know a lot of earphone companies just tend to focus on bass, cause its fashionable.
But there is definitely more to music than just bass. Thats not to say i dont like nice tight bass.

  • Is the old HP-IB on a ribbon cable compatable with the now standard GPIB?

I have found a HP61001A and associated 61016, 61014 etc test equipment. It uses a ribbon cable to interface. Would anyone know if this is compatable with the now standard GPIB? Could it be used with some form of "connection converter"? Many thanks for any help.

    Dave,
I recommend that you call HP to determine if the instrument is 488.1 compliant. If it is, then you can use GPIB boards (even 488.2 boards), but you must use 488.1 commands (such as ibwrt and ibrd). If the instrument is not 488.1 compliant, then you cannot use it with GPIB.
    I hope this helps.

  • I have an iMac with 10.4.11 and a Mac Air 10.6.7. Will the Extreme be compatable with the 10.4.11?

I have an iMac with 10.4.11 and a Mac Air 10.6.7. Will the Extreme be compatable with the 10.4.11?

10.4.11  Macs will have Kernel Panics when trying to use Dual Band Airport Extreme Base Station.  There are a few forums here dealing with it.  I just purchased an Airport Extreme Base Station and spent two days now figuring out why the old iMac G5 running 10.4.11 (Tiger) was Kernel Panicing.  There is a way that I am testing now that seems to be working.  I will post the link in a minute when I find it. Other solution is to upgrade to 10.5 .
    Here is the post
Aug 22, 2010 2:09 PM (in response to Acin)
Greetings... I have just found a resolution to this problem, at lease if you're using one of the newer Dual Band Airport Extreme base stations. This fix was provided by an AppleCare representative named Rebecca, and I am deeply in her debt. To review: MY PROBLEM - After installing a new Dual Band Airport Extreme in July 2010, I began to have frequent kernel panics with my older laptops running Tiger (10.4.11). My newer Intel/Leopard MacBook Pro ran fine with the new base station, but these older Power PC Macs with Tiger just crashed again and again. Pulling the Airport Card was the only fix. I tried every conceivable software and network fix; nothing helped. THE SOLUTION - The AppleCare rep talked me through this, but I'm pretty sure this was the procedure. Please note that I cannot guarantee that I have not forgotten a step! But I am fairly sure this is it. (If an Apple specialist is reading, please check this!) Keep in mind, this will only work if you have a dual-band Airport base station. I performed this on a Mac Pro running OS 10.6.4, with Airport Utility version 5.5.1 and firmware 7.5. 1. Launch Airport Utility.
    2. With the dual-band base station selected, click Manual Setup.
    3. Click the Wireless tab.
    4. Click the "Wireless Network Options" button near the bottom.
    5. Check the box that says "5 GHz Network," then enter a new network name in the Name field. (Your existing network name appears there now. Just delete it and type a new one.)
    6. Click Done. That dialogue will close.
    7. Now click Update. The Airport base station will now take about a minute to reboot. Here's what happens when you perform these steps... The utility changes your existing Airport network to 2.5 Ghz, and then creates a new 5 Ghz network with the new name. (It will apply the same password to both.) You will use the 5 Ghz network, the new name, for any new wireless computers using Leopard or newer OS. You will use the 2.5 Ghz network (bearing the original network name) for the older laptops running Tiger. This fix worked immediately, no problems. The issue is that Tiger does not perform well with 5 Ghz networks, and this causes the kernel panics. I now have two old G4 laptops running Tiger, both using my new Airport base station with the 2.5 Ghz network and running perfectly. At the same time, my new machine is using the 5 Ghz network at the same time. It seems quite stable. Good luck, and I hope this info is useful.

  • What cameras are compatable with the SD card accessory?

Is there a list of cameras that are compatable with the SD card attachment?

The camera Connection kit has two parts, one is the SD card reader. The SD Card Reader supports SD standards up to SDHC, miniSD and microSD with adapters, and MMC. SDXC is not supported.
The second part is an attachable USB port. Most digital cameras with a USB cable should work with the iPad.

  • Are you going to reestablish compatibility with the Norton tool bar?

Are you going to reestablish compatibility with the Norton tool bar?
Version 4 seems to have lost this compatibility, which version 3 had.

It is down to Norton to make their add-ons compatible and they are working on it. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

However, if your Mac has only Firewire 800 ports, you need an adapter such as one of the following to connect your FW400 external iSight:
    • This Firewire 400-800 cable can work:  http://store.apple.com/us/product/H7041ZM/A (I use this one.)
    • Some report that this low-priced alternative cable works:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189097
    • To use your iSight's FW400 6pin-6pin cable, you can use a 6pin-9pin adapter like one of these:
