Is the shuffle always this slow?
Is the iPod shuffle always so slow to load? I have key drives that I can transfer 64 MB to in a few minutes, but my new Shuffle takes forever to load 120 songs.
This could be normal, I'm just curious.
Mine is fast, but what can I say? Different systems, etc., etc. That said, even Windows ought to be able to do better than that. Have you looked in the Windoze-specific forum for ideas or fixes?
As for the OP's points: 64 MB is a few minutes, but 120 songs (500MB?) takes a lot longer? Was something mis-typed or am I missing something? Besides all that, you really should quantify things: How slow is 'this' slow? How long is 'forever'?

Is my E4200 defective or is the signal always this weak?

Just got the E4200 and it seemed great at first. Connected at 450mbps at close range (maybe 6ft away) and got 223mbps transfer.
It seems that recently my signal is much weaker. I'm around 6-8ft away from the router and I'm getting between 270-360mbps, which to me is poor given the short range.
InSSIDer says the RSSI is -50, while my other wireless N router (dual band) is -35 and is in the exact same location. I'm using the 5ghz radio only, and it is set to N, and I'm using channels 44 and 48. I checked the hidden advanced wireless page and transmit power is already set to high.
My laptop has an Intel 6300 wireless card.
I'm using the current firmware 1.0.02
I've noticed that the speed of the router randomly seems to drop off too (just as I type this, the link rate has gone back up to 450mbps... typical). Is the router throttling when it gets hot or something?
So I just want to find out if others are experiencing similar rates at the same kind of distance. Seriously, how can you advertise something as 450mbps when you can't even get that link rate at a distance as short as 6ft?
I can't see any thing I can do to increase the link speed (back down to 270mbps now), short of a firmware update to increase the power and use higher channels. I hear the higher channels are much better, so who do I have to write to, to plead for new firmware?
This is a great product, but it's totally ruined by stupid internal antennas and a weak transmit power. Is there anyone or anything that can be done about it? Maybe if we make a noise about the not so maximum performance, they might address it.Hi
Well you can try in changing the channel on the router.
If that does'nt resolve the issue.. Try to change the location of the router of the router. -
Is H264 compression always this slow???
I did a test compression of 1080i footage into H264. It was only about 2 minutes of footage and it took 8 hours to compress! I made it a single pass encoding to speed it up, but... wow. I must be doing something wrong. Should I have converted the 1080i footage to 720p59.94 first?
The quickest way to speed up H.264 encodes is to do a 'single pass' vs. multi pass in your compressor settings - this will cut the time in 1/4, and downgrade your quality alittle bit. Second, add RAM RAM RAM. The more the better.

On the new version of iTunes the shuffle button and replay buttons appear to have disappeared on the genius tab and am always having to listen to shuffled songs now :( how can I stop this?

after closing large documents (drawings) the window closes but the process runs still in the background. I open the next document, the same procedure and after dowing this several times the RAM is full the system becoms very slow. what can i do???
You can always shut it down manually via the Task Manager

Playlist shuffle always plays the same few songs
I got a playlist that has roughly 250 songs. Everytime I connect my Ipod to charge it, then disconnect and start the playlist on shuffle mode, there's always a 20 to 30 songs playing first. If I close my Ipod and start the playlist again (still on it most of the time), it shows 1 of 250 and plays the same songs, but not in the same exact order (though sometimes it does for 2 or 3 songs). Just like if the shuffle was on "low" mode or something. It's still choose randomly some song here and there, but not that much since it the same few, ALL THE TIME for a while. The only way to get around this is to connect my Ipod to my computer again (it reset it somehow) or leave it open all the time so it knows wich song has been played (but that's terribly stupid). Is there any other way to go around that shuffling loop? I found myself skipping most of the time since I always hear the same few songs even though there's some songs in the playlist I've never ever played on the Ipod. Is there a way to set the "priority" (like play the most higher rated song first) or the "intensity" (from low to high) of the shuffle?
Got the last 7th gen. Ipod Nano.On the iPod's Now Playing screen, there is a Shuffle button. The symbol looks like two arrows crossing. Is that set to ON?
I ask this because shuffing a playlist should NOT always put the same 20-30 songs at the top of the list. Shuffle means a randomly ordered list is created and played. If the original playlist is in a somewhat random playlist order to begin with, playing it in play-in-order mode may seem like it is shuffling, even though the iPod is playing the list in playlist order. And the same songs would be at the top of the list every time, because the iPod not shuffling the list.
Sorry if that's too basic, but I need to ask the obvious question first, and that question is, IS is the iPod actually set to shuffle songs? -
I'm running V10.6.8 and the system is not recognizing the presence of a San Disc (SDHC) adapter that I plug into the left side of the keyboard. This always worked in the past. Whats changed? I can't upload my images to a folder.
Another item I'd found when getting an SD card for an older camera was the lack of backward support from the SD card if it was too new, while a newer camera can sometimes use an older SD card at a slower read-write speed. There are limits and ceilings on what kind of card works with old/new stuff.
So I ended up taking a nice SD card back to one store and had to settle on a 'walmart kinda dubious kingston two pack a cure' for the older Panasonic Lumix. Smaller capacity but seems to work OK for the era. I don't trust kingston with macs, but this 10 y/o Lumix seems to not care about that.
Hopefully you can obtain the correct cards, because some stores only sell parts for their inventory of cameras. And some adapters are limited too.
Depending on what I'm doing with the card and the camera it goes with, I attach the camera to the computer and not just the card in a reader. That way I can file items inside the camera SD card in a way the camera won't overwrite them. Later when I save everything from the card into an external hard disk drive, all my filed folders of images by date (I created in the SD) appear in order, in the later archive. Easier too, when I burn to DVD or CD media, to create yet another archive away from the computer or the camera.

My iPod touch is stuck on one song in my play list when in the shuffle mode. How do I fix this to shuffle through all the songs in that playlist?
If you go to the Now Playing screen, the Repeat control is the the arrowed racetrack icon on the left side right below the scrubber bar. Tap the icon to change. It is white when Repeat is off.

I'm about to buy a 27" i-Mac. I would like to connect my 30" Cinema Display to it as a second monitor. What will I need to do that? Will this slow down the overall performance?
The new iMacs do not come with a MiniDisplayPort, they have Thunderbolt, so unless you are talking about purchasing one of the previous generation iMacs such as this refurbished model in the online Apple store, it won't work. And yes, if you are going to get the full range of video resolutions you will need the Dual-Link version.

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.

from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access. -
If I'm in LIghtroom 5, and try to Edit in Photoshop CS6, I always get the following message: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.6 for full compatibility." But I have updated to 8.6 and have no remaining updates. How can I fix this?

You can sync as many ipods/iphone/ipads as you like to one computer/library. This has nothing to do with your issue.

While playing any song on your iPod, tap the artwork to bring up the scrubber bar and additional controls. On the left hand side is a option for repeat. You want to make sure this icon is white (meaning it is set to Off). If it isn't tap it either one or two times to change its current setting.

iPod shuffle 2nd Gen is not recognized on PC, but other shuffles are. Software is updated. Is this the end of the road for this particular shuffle?

I created a playlist with 100 songs. I want those 100 songs played using the shuffle option. This no longer works in iTunes version 11.1.5.5 How can I get an entire playlist to paly one song after another by using the switch option?

Was that iTunes' safe mode as opposed to Windows' safe mode? iTunes safe mode is invoked by holding down CTRL+SHIFT immediately after clicking the icon to launch iTunes and continuing to hold until this message pops up:
Click continue, then close iTunes and reopen. With luck iTunes now opens normally every time.
