    After updating to iTunes 11.0.4.,
iTunes 11.0.4. can't locate thousands of files (they are still on the harddisk though).
is there a way to simply relocate them (without having to do it manually for each individual song which would take forever)?

Are these "thousands of files" in an iTunes library that simply cannot be found?
If so, assuming you know exactly where they are, hold the "Option" key while opening iTunes from your dock.  You will then be given a "Choose Library" option.  Choose it and point to your library.

  • Using the harddisk on Time-Capsule with Windows

I would like to connect the harddisk in my Time-Capsule on a Windows-XP PC.
The drive has its file-sharing with a disk-password. With my iMac I can use the drive normaly.
But even the Domain is set to Workgroup, like all Window-machines, I can't see nor connect from my Windows-XP PC to this drive.
The windows-machine has a correct network-connection (I see all my Macs and other Windows-machines).
So, why is the harddisk from the time-capsule not recognized by the Windows-PC's?
    Thanks.
    Erich

your network componets config could be blocking the settings needed to make this work transparently. there are things like firewall settings that change the transparency of a network.
reguardless of the settings, you should be able to use explorer, tools tab, map network driver tab and either browse til you find your time capsule drive or you can type in the time capsule location in the folder box such as \\x.x.x.x\sharename where x.x.x.x is the IP address of your time capsule unit and sharename is the name of the timecapsule drive share.
you can also go to a dos box in windows via the start, run and type cmd in the dialogue box. once you get a dos box, enter net use y: \\x.x.x.x\sharename where y: is the drive letter you will be assigning, x.x.x.x is the TC IP address, and sharename is the TC share name. you will be promted for a user ID and pass word. if you setup your TC to allow guest full access then the user ID is guest and the password is the TC unit password. Once you get this working....you can change from guest access to a named userid and password access.
    hope this helps

AFAIK, this is beyond the capabilities of FCPX/Compressor. This company makes a plug-in, which I have to say I have no experience with. Here is a thread that may give you some other ideas. Good luck.

Guys, I been in the business working on PC and MAC for years. So I am not green at this, I was looking for some kind of option to get past the boot loader..  Which is failing.
I know how to boot into these modes.. Done tons of research before posting and couldn't find anything.
It will not go into  Internet Recovery, or any thing else.  I hear the sound .. then that is it.. I get nothing else..
I have tried clearing the NVRAM which is Option + Command + P + R
    Still nothing..
So I thought I would try here to see if maybe there was some trick out there someone might know of that would work.
What else guys?  I am hitting th keys right..

  • Can I use the harddisk that I used for Time Machine on my previous computer on my new computer without deleting the old back-ups?

Can I use the harddisk that I used for Time Machine on my previous computer on my new computer without deleting the old back-ups?

    Yes.  See:

My only concern is that you may not have enough free space on the drive.

  • Can I swap the harddisks between a new MacBook Air and a MacBook 2009?

Can I swap the harddisks between a new MacBook Air and a MacBook 2009?
I want to buy a MacBook Air and give my MacBook to my wife but
I want to keep all my files, itunes libraries, user accounts, etc.
Will the new Mac Book Air detect the new hardware and install the new
    drivers by itself?

Hi uni2canarias and welcome to Apple Discussions!
The hard drive in the MacBook Air is not meant to be user replaceable. Further, the OS installed on your MacBook would likely not run the MacBook Air.
A better solution might be to use the Migration Assistant to move your data to the new computer. This comes up when you are setting up the new computer for the first time.
    Best of luck.

  • I recently purchased used macbook pro 15" but unfortunately i erase the harddisk and did not have back up but when i try to reinstall the mac os x lion it ask me the id password, how i can purchse the mac os x lion.

where from i can buy the mac os x lion because i am using windows base system when i try to buy from apple web side it show in app store only not in itunes

Have you tried booting from the Recovery HD to reinstall Lion?
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
You will need the Apple ID and password used to purchase Lion. If you have not purchased Lion, then you will need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard then update it to 10.6.8 to access the App Store where you can purchase and download Lion under your own Apple ID. Or you can purchase the Apple USB Lion installer flash drive at any local Apple retailer or the Online Store.

  • How to find multiple copies of pictures on the harddisk ?

    Hi Everybody,
I have the feeling that many of my pictures have multiple copies in different locations on the harddisk which obviously occupies unneccessary space. Is there any way to easily search fro them in order to delete them e.g. similar to the function "show dublicate songs" in iTunes ?
    Thanks
    Tom

    Tom:
iPhoto by design will have either two or three copies of the file. The original, full sized file, the thumbnail and a modified version if you've done any editing. That fact cannot be avoided. If you see duplicates while in the library then you can use Duplicate Annihilator. That should remove the types of duplicates that can be safely removed. Do not try removing any from the Finder! Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder.

my ibook g4 won't start anymor from the harddisk. so I tried to reinstall the system from the orginial system cd. Doesn't work. It says the system cd is damaged. What should I do?

I would question that error message if the Mac OS X 10.5 DVD doesn't work, either.
What error message(s) did you get with the Mac OS X 10.5 DVD? Is the Mac OS X 10.5 DVD the full retail install DVD, an upgrade DVD, or a DVD that came with another Mac?

  • Replacing the Harddisk

    Hello,
Due to a lack of space in my Harddisk, I need to replace it with a bigger one, However I can not change my MBP because I use a dsp card, and there's no dsp port in the new MBP . I can't use an external harddisk either because both of my usb ports are always plugged with external hardware ( music production...)
is it possible to do such a thing?
    thanks for your help.

Replacing your internal hard drive with a larger one is easy. Instructions are in the little user manual that came with it.
Order a new drive and an external 2.5" SATA drive enclosure (FireWire is preferable, but USB will do). Mount the new drive in the enclosure (also very easy), connect it to your MBP, format it Mac OS Extended with a GUID partition scheme using Disk Utility, and use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable clone of your internal drive on the external one. Restart the computer while holding down the Option key, and select the external drive to start up from. If the computer starts up normally as it should, shut it down, then swap the two drives.

  • Help required on replacing the Superdrive please!

My internal superdrive gave up the ghost a few weeks back and I have been managing fine with a LaCie external DVD burner without a problem. However, i am thinking of selling my iMac to get one of the newer models and would like to replace the superdrive before selling.
I have found these easy to follow instructions on how to remove the existing drive:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacg517inchOpticalDrive.pdf
This all looks simple enough and was wondering if purchasing the Pioneer DVR-K06 would be a viable option as a replacement drive as it seems to only be about £35 ?
    http://www.play.com/Product.aspx?r=PCSH&title=3508472&source=9593
Will this model fit ok into the space vacated by the Superdrive or is it particularly difficult operation to carry out for a novice?
Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Clearing can be performed, only if the GL account / Vendor account / customer account balance is 0.
In your case the account balance must not be 0.
    Please check.
    Thanks,

  • Can I restore iTunes playlists to my iPhone4 without using the iTunbes backup on my computer as potentially causing a problem that has required a replacement handset?

Recently had to get a replacement iPhone4 due to a problem with either the firmware or software. Did a complete factory reset and then restore from backup and problem continued so did a full factory reset without restoring from backup and problem still continued so took it to Apple Store who gave me a replacement handset.
New / Replacement handset works perfectly so far and have resrored Apps from App Store, re-entered contact and calender entries (manually) and now want to put a playlist or two from my iTunes Acc back on the handset but don't want to restore from my computer in case the original problem re-occurs.
Is there any way to do this from the handset?

The following user tip might be of some help:
