Is the SoftReferences "bug" going to be fixed for Java 8?

Hi. I'm not sure this is the best place to ask this question but was wondering if anyone here works for oracle or has information regarding this bug:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do;jsessionid=cfd518f51afc7780e5188276b5f9?bug_id=6912889
It says the targeted version is 8 but I've not heard anything about it being fixed.
Does anyone know if this is going to be fixed or a way I could vote on it to be fixed?
Thanks, Nick.

Does anyone know if this is going to be fixed or a way I could vote on it to be fixed? Why would anyone know? This is just a user-to-user forum, we're all exactly like you: not in Oracle's inner circle. And no you can't vote anymore.
Of course someone could contribute a fix to the OpenJDK project to speed up the process if it were really important to them that it was fixed.

  • When is the 'OMIT' bug going to be fixed?

    Hi, gurus,
I mean that bug that if a string contains 'OMIT' this part is not displayed in reports.
Ok, I've seen this bug reported 2004, also September 2005. Someone answered that this bug is planned for a future release.
I am using HTML DB 2.0.
I don't really think that reserved words of any kind should interact with real data from any field. I've also seen that it is been kept for compatibility reasons.
So, my question is either when is it going to be fixed or is there a way to surpass this problem temporarily.
    10x in advance!

Given that "will not charge you for going over your usage limit this month", why would you want it fixed?  It sounds like you've been given a free upgrade to unlimited broadband!
More seriously, BT's systems are incredibly flaky, and I don't suppose anyone really knows when it'll be fixed.

When will the maps bug in IOS6 be fixed?

Thats not where they are thats where Apple think they are, try coming out of Victoria walking straight across the road and you are in ?????   god knows where on apple but its not where you acually are, I have tried it and its total crap. By the way there are 2 Hammersmith underground stations. Your map just shows 1 pin
You explicity claimed that "all 400 stations are missing" in Apple Maps. I only needed to locate one to prove you wrong. Instead, I proved you doubly wrong. I didn't realize I needed to prove you triply-wrong. Oh well...
Naming subway stops is not Apple's responsibility and obviously not London's strenths. The pin shows the general location of "hammersmith".
Okay I am in Holloway road, where is the nearest station to me?, if I don't know the name I cant find the station.  I know there are 6 but Apple does not show any of them
When I enter "holloway road london", I get a bunch of pins and the first one that automatically gets selected is the subway station. Since that is one of "any of them", you have been proved wrong 4 times over.
Etre have you ever been out and used walking maps? I think you need specsavers
Do you actually own an iPhone? Are you aware it has GPS? Have you really ever actually tried it? Because when I manually nagivate to one end of Holloway road and search for "underground", I get this:
Strangely, if I go to the other end of the street and do the same thing, I get an entirely different station:
I wonder what would happen if I did a similar search for "underground" while zoomed in on the "hammersmith" pin?
Well what do you know? But how would I ever get there? Hmmm, you mentioned "walking maps". Maybe I should try walking directions from "hammersmith" to one of the underground stations.
By my count, I have proved your anti-Apple Maps misinformation to be wrong 6 times over. Wanna try for a lucky seven?

    Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this? I allways found that handy. Now I have to click on an icon on the top, This is a backward step if that is now the only way to see the number of items. Am I missing something obvious?

    Parrotcat wrote:

In the good old days of Snow Leopard, an open Finder folder had a border along the bottom of the window which could show the number of items in that window and the total available space on the hard disk or partition that folder resides on. That bottom border is gone in Lion and those two bits of information are gone with it. Is that what you're talking about? If so, I'd like to learn how to get it back too and "Show Item Info" is not the way.

There is no way to foretell the future howver, if this is the same friend who told you that the world is going to end on December, 21, 2112, you shouldn't believe him.

  • Reader XI: When is the privileged locations bug going to be fixed?

At the moment, I'm unable to deploy Reader XI, because users don't accept that our corporate file shares are untrusted.  I can go into Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) and add hosts and file paths to the Privileged Locations, but it only even remembers the last one I enter.
I see that this is a known issue, but I'd like to know when this is going to be fixed.

    Hi,
Try adding the hosts in Privileged Locations via "Add Host". It will then treat them as trusted hosts.
Just for double check, this is the problem you are referring to:
Problem: Unable to Add/Remove websites in Trusted Sites, Restricted Sites category in Internet Options dialog from Acrobat's preferences. You cannot remove existing trusted sites or add a website to the existing list.
Workaround: Change the Internet Options from the Settings dialog box in Internet Explorer 9. (Tools > Internet Options) [3171074]

  • When is the usage monitor going to be fixed?

I have been getting this message for months now,
"The usage monitor is currently not available for a small number of customers. We understand how important it is to monitor usage, and as you're not able to view the usage monitor we will not charge you for going over your usage limit this month. You don't need to do anything, we'll take care of that."
When is this going to be fixed? how many other people are getting this message?
    Regards,
    Frogman

I get the same message as you ukfrogman
Only been on BT Infinity for a couple of weeks. Had the usage monitor for the first few days, then it dissapeared and I now get the same message as you.
Cant say that I am too bothered, as I am not on an unlimited package

  • TS3642 Is this bug going to be fixed?

Is this a bug that will be fixed in an update of itunes for windows in the near future?  This is a big issue, I am unable to share garageband projects with other users.  We need to be able to share the whole .band folder, and not just the mixdown of the single audio file.

We need to be able to share the whole .band folder, and not just the mixdown of the single audio file.
Then save your song twice to iTunes, once as the mixed down song, and once as a project.
See turingtest2's post here:  Re: Loading a .band file back into Garageband (iPad 2)
You can copy the folder with all the media from iTunes.

  • After update, firefox has replaced the website icons for shortcuts on my home screen with the firefox icon. is there a fix for that?

I have several shortcuts to websites on my homescreen. When I initially add the shortcuts to the homescreen they show up with the website' icon, I guess that fav.ico is used.
After the update of Firefox, all icons are replaced with the firefox icon.

Self-hosted add-ons have to be fixed for every new version of Firefox. Two to 6 months for updating an add-on is ridiculous for a program which has a new version release every '''6 weeks'''. If that extension was hosted at the official Add-ons website, Mozilla would take take care of "bumping" that extension, as long as it keeps working, for every new version of Firefox, as the new version is released.
See this thread from yesterday, I posted instructions about how to "bump" that extension for Firefox 7.<br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/884484
You can also use this extension to "bump" an already installed extension for compatibility with the currently installed version of Firefox. <br />

My iPOD class (last generation) shuts off when jostled--like what
happens when the headphones come out.  Is there any fix for this?

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • When I press any of my music lists to "Shuffle" it will not shuffle but just repeat the 1st song played. Any fix for that? Thanks. HMK

When I press any of my music lists to "Shuffle" it will not shufle but keeps repeating the same song first played. Any fix for this? Thanks, HMK

When you get to "Now Playing", tap once on the artwork in order to see the timeline of the playing song.  Look on the left side, the repeat one button is probably active.
Tapping once this icon bring the repeat option, tapping again will bring the repeat one option.  There you can also tap the shuffle button on the right.

  • I am using a Microsoft Natural keyboard and when i use the close button on Ver. 5.0 or newer it closes the whole screen not just the active tab is there a fix for this

I am using a Microsoft Natural 4000 Keyboard
IF I update to Mozila 5.0 when i use the close button it shuts down the whole browser nut just the active tab
Is there a workaround for this because I like the close button feature

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? (I'm having trouble determining from your "More system information" whether it's enabled or disabled.) Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?

  • HT5228 What about a security fix for Java under Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5?

Apple recognized and offered a fix for the Flashback trojan here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5228?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
But it is only for OS 10.7 and 10.6.  Presumably, users of 10.5 and 10.4 are still vulnerable.  Because Apple insisted on providing Java support, rather than Oracle, the fix that was released in February doesn't work unless Apple were to make it work.
If Apple is unwilling to support Java for 10.5 and 10.4, they need to hand over whatever documentation Oracle would need so they can keep the Java environment (and security) up to date.  10.5 and 10.4 are still viable OSes and to not patch obvious security flaws in one way or another is irresponsible, at best.

I wouldn't expect anything to come of it.
I have disabled Java on my browsers.  It isn't really neded all that often.
