Is the SONY DSC-HX9V fully supported by iPhoto 9.2.2/Snow Leopard?

When iPhoto 9.2.2 opens when its detects a USB-connected SONY HX9V, it displays "NO NAME" although it does satisfactorily upload photos (I haven't tried movies) from the camera. Does this suggest a less-than-complete recognition/support for this particular SONY digital camera?

Maybe, maybe not.
You can rename anything in the OS by clicking on the name under it or by using the Get Info window. (In the Finder, File -> Get Info)
Note, however, that not every camera brand supports this.

The Sony DSC RX10 has been available for many months now. When will RAW support for Aperture be available?

I  don't mean this to be a smart type answer, but you can try asking Sony. When Sony provides the information to Apple, Apple will release it.

  • Does the camera connection kit work with sony DSC-HX9V?

Hi, just been given iPad 3 by my lovely wife (great present) and want to start using it with my Sony DSC-HX9V camera to import pictures and video.  I've heard that there can be power supply issues (I guess you can turn off USB charge on the camera), but grateful if anyone has used this combo successfully before I shell-out £25. Thanks....

It won't as the Sony DSC-HX9V records video into MTS files and not into MOV ones. Sorry - there is no way you can watch or even import(!) your movies on an iPad without using a desktop computer.
Also read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/playing-back-1080p60i60p-non-mov-videos-right- your-camera for more info on the matter and the solutions (make sure you follow the iVI review link at the bottom as it's one of the best remuxer tools for the Mac). • How can I get movies from my sony DSC-HX9V in AVCHD format to the mac?

I have recently received a Sony DSC-HX9V camera. It does movie recordings in AVCHD format. Is there a simple way to transfer these to imovie or elsewhere on my Mac? Any ideas please. Thank you.

Take a look at this compatibility chart:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US
and read the notes re. your model. So, the next best thing then would be MPEG Streamclip (free) which should be able to convert your footage to something iMovie can work with. Note: You may need to purchase the MPEG2 Playback Component from the Apple Store (less than $20) which may be needed (that depends on a) your OS version and b) the MPEG Streamclip version).

  • Video import problems from a Sony DSC-HX9V

    Hey There
I have a Sony DSC-HX9V which I've owned for several months now, a Intel based MBP and iMovie 11.
Something strange is cooking and I wonder if anyone could let me have some suggestions of how to solve the issue?
In the past both iPhoto and iMovie has had no problems at all recognizing the camera and downloading photos and video files. I've created projects, burnt DVDs all the normal stuff.
This afternoon though a problem has arisen. Although iPhoto is letting me download photos from the camera, iMovie I guess is not "seeing" the camera. I've done exactly what I think I usually do, but this time its not working. When you click on "Import from camera" the window opens up but only the iSight camera is being used. I've clicked the "camera" drop down but again only the iSight camera is an option.
I've made sure all of my software is updated, no problems there, turned the camera off, turned the MBP off and on numerous times, but still it won't see the camera.
I've spent the last few hours trolling through various posts, even tried shooting video in all of the different quality grades available on the camera, just to make sure, but still nothing.
This Sony camera is definitely compatible with iMovie 11, again I've check and as I mentioned before, I've used it several times in the past.
Any suggestions would be warmly received.
    David

I found this link helpful, I'm going to change the camera settings to 60i from 60p as on post mentions and will report the results http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1009&message=39416949&chang emode=1

The ones sold that day will come with Snow Leopard most likely but they will be able to get a free upgrade to LIon if they apply within 30 days. Hardware coming through the supply chain from the day of the announcement will have Lion installed so it depends what stock people have to move before buyers see those.

  • Is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V fully compatible with a Macbook?

Is a Sony Cybershot DSC-HS9V fully compatible with a Macbook?

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-W350. It has never ejected correctly from either of my Macs. I had a Macbook running Snow Leopard, and now have a Macbook Pro running Maverick. I always get the "disk was not ejected correctly" message, even though I drag it to the trash, yadita, yadita. The most recent surprise was when the camera was automatically ejected before I was done using iPhoto, and was (of course) "not ejected correctly". If anyone has a fix I am listening closely! I always thought it was probably the driver, but don't know if it is a Mac or Sony thing.

  • Is the Sony ARW raw files supported in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10?

I downloaded and installed CameraRaw_8_8 and installed it, restarted my Adobe Elements 10, but nothing seemed to change.  My Adobe Elements 10 still does not allow me to select a ARW raw file photo.  Am I missing something?

  • Raw images from the sony dsc-r1

Can you see the RAW files in Preview when you double click on them?
I don't think Aperture supports the R1 yet, look at the supported list of cameras here:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/raw/
If indeed it really does not support your camera, then the choices are that you wait to see if Aperture 1.1 comes with DSC-R1 support (currently the only confirmed new RAW support is for the D200), or generate 16-bit TIFF files from the RAW iamges and work with those. You could also work from the JPG files but the TIFF files give you a better base to do adjustments from.

  • Does the Sony DSC-H90 have the option to save pictures in different folders?

Hi, I own an older Sony Cyber-shot, and was wondering if the Sony Cybershot DSC-H90 has some of the same features.  What I really want to know is if I create multiple folders to save pictures in?  On mine, you hit the "home" button, scroll across to "memory tool", click that and then "create Rec folder" or "change Rec folder". I noticed that the DSC-H90 does not have a home button, only menu. I was hoping someone owned one or worked at the store & could look. I don't know if I want to buy it, if all the pictures go into the same folder. Thanks!

Hi, I found some videos that review that camera. Hopefully you can find the feature in the videos.
