From the Finder menu select 'Secure Empty Trash'. If this or the suggestion above doesn't resolve the problem take a look at the various suggestions in this link:

Oh thank you. Only thing is I have no backup, so i'd prefer to wait if there is a 24 hour lock out... Someone told me they thought there was, and I can't find anything on google to tell me how many attempts you get and how long you get locked out for each time. A friend made me a new passcode when under the influence and now after thinking about it remembers what he changed it to

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • I have accidentally deleted the trash bin in my mailbox and can no longer move any deleted mail into the trash.  I thought I was removing all the emails from the trash but somehow managed to delete the bin instead.  Does anyone know who to reinstate it?

You are running 10.6.8? If yes, I assume you have your install disks? As the trash bin is part of Mail app and that is an integral part of the OS, the only way I know to get it back is to reinstall the OS. You won't lose any files, just reinstall the OS over the top of the current system.

  • HT201250 I have moved TM folders to the Trash, and now I cant delete them or move them. What do I do?

Time Machine told me the back up disk was full. So I selected older folders (from 2011) and moved them to the Trash. Now every time I try to delete them, I get the error 8003. It wont allow me to move them back to TM. They disappear when I unmount the TM disk, only to reappear when its remounted.
I have tried using the option key, secure empty trash etc.  and the same error appears...
I realize I have done a bad thing - but I deleted files this way previously and didnt have a problem
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    thanks

Okay. I have read a lot about this & still am a little unsure about what this solution actually does.
Like some others, I have simply added a folder (NOT A PARTITION) in my external HDD for the backups.
I noticed I was low on space one day & dragged a load of old backups to the trash.
Nothing in the time machine blurb inferred I should do it any other way & OS X is usually pretty intuitive.
Will this solution get rid of just the trashed files or will it destroy everything on the whole HDD?

  • Some files in the trash won't let me delete

    I have a Macbook Pro OS X version 10.9.1
My Macbook Pro was running a bit slow, I checked on the internet that something called 'Cache' is causing this and it says it's good to delete 'Cache' around once a week so that my mac will be fast so I did, I deleted all 'Cache' it ended up in the trash so I wanted to empty my trash but it won't let me it says everything is in use so what do I do??
I'm in clearing 'Cache' wrong please tell me how I do it properly, my whole safari is slow!!

if you go into terminal and type "sudo rm -rf " and then drag the file into the terminal window, hit enter, type password (it won't appear as though you are typing your password but just keep typing and press enter).
p.s. make sure there is a space after the "-rf" and don't type the quotation marks. Also be careful with this command as you can wipe your entire computer.
This video will show you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdnEx-CWqAU you can use the capital R like this guy has done or the rf both will delete the folder.

Hello Komanaut and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your email.
To clarify, are the emails deleted off your device and your email account on the computer? Or just on your device?
    Thanks!

  • Email deleting after 25-30 days

I am using Outlook 2007 and sync daily to my iPhone. Since I began using the iPhone several months ago, I notice that after about 30 days my email disappears from my Outlook folder on my computer. I would like to keep my email indefinitely. Is there a setting I may have triggered on the iPhone to get it to delete my email?
    Thanks for any help!
    Brad in Dallas

    Hi Brad,
Are you using a POP email account?
You may have to change the Outlook account settings, as suggested here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228

  • Where is the trash can so I can delete photos?

I have 600 unwanted photos in my Photostream and very little free space on my iPad 4. When I select photos in the "My Photostream" album there is no option to delete them, as shown in other posts in this forum. Icloud ignores them, because they are over 30 days old (why this crazy limitation?)
How the ..... Can I remove these photos? The only option I know is to delete everything by returning the iPad to its factory state, which is not attractive.
Apple seem to have forgotten that people need to be able to manage their data, iTunes is the worst piece of software I've ever experienced and icloud is little better.
Please does Anyone know a solution, which will overcome Apple's omission and allow me to manage my photos myself?
P.S. Sorry about the random capital letters, but this iPad won't let me place the cursor with any precision. That's a question for another day, together with "why does this forum say that I have IOS 6.0.1 on my IOS 7.0.4 iPad?

    SteveF48 wrote:
Yes it is definitely the icloud Photostream,
All Photo Streams are iCloud Photo Streams. Are the photos in My Photo Stream in tthe Albums section of the Photos app?
It was only when I deleted some that I discovered that icloud wasn't working as I expected. It ignores them,
Deleted them from where? iPad? Computer?
What happened and what were you expecting?
What do you mean it ignores them?
It ignores them, because they were transferred to the iPad
Transfered to the iPad from where?
they were transferred to the iPad more than 30 days ago.
This is irrelevant. Photo Stream photos are stored on the server for 30 days but your iOS device will hold 1000 Photo Stream photos.
With that being said, if they are older than 30 days, turn off Photo Stream in the iCloud settings then back on and it will clear all but the last 30 days of photos in your Photo Stream.

  • Why can't I get downloads e.g. Adobe reader 10 with FF Beta4.8 using XP home sp3 and NIS11 when the file downloads and then auto-deletes before I can use it?

The downloads folder does not save files when they are downloaded.
problem particularlly with binary files e.g. adobe reader 10
NIS has been deactivated and problem persists.
Initially downloads are canceled. When retry option is selected file downloads in window but sub directory shows file while downloading and then it is deleted

  • Can I recover time machine backups from the trash? They are not deleted.

I deleted by mistake time machine backups from an external hard disk and I do not know how to recover htem. The bin has not been emptied. I learnt it would be possible via "Terminal" but I do not know how. Some help would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

That's not possible, the message is: backups cannot be moved (I'm workin in German). After having googled I read somewhere that it would be possible to recover the backups with the software Terminal. I copied the path of that article and adapted it - however nothing happened. So I certainly did something wrong - but what???? Do you have any idea about this? I'm a bit desperate.

  • The item "doc.download" can't be moved to the trash because it cant be deleted

    please see title question

Do a Get Info, CMD-I, on the File. Is it locked?
Open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste this command -- important, leave a space -- then drag the file into the Terminal window and hit return. Please post the output. You can just close the window, when finished.

  • I am photo streaming my docs from my macbook air and want to assure they do not get auto deleted after 30 days??

I have a macbook air, and an Iphone 4S, as well as an Ipad 2.  I have many pictures that I was just now sending to my "Icloud free 5 gig"  I noticed a comment that stated that Photo will delete the oldest files after 30 days so as to manage size??  I don't want to have that happen, I want to put them there and leave them there.  I don't want the cloud space deciding which pictures shoudl be dumped. . .
Am I overlooking or misinterpreting something?  I mean I am pretty concerned and if that is the case, I want to pull them back down or whatever and have them stay on the individual devices. . .I figured it would be free space that I could delete if I wanted to, not arbitrrarily by a date and some unknown valuating system of measure. . .
    Thanks,
    Dave
PS Still can't get my arrow keys to go back, or up  kinda a pain..

if I empty my music from my old computer will I lose all my music on my new computer - ipod etc...
No. Be sure you have transferred the entire contents of your old /Home/Music/ folder.
Create a new user account on your old computer. Have your granddaughter tell you what she would like the username to be and what password she wants. Be sure to set the new account with Administrative authority. Then log into this new account and delete your old account.
