Is the "update Genius" option gone?

Didn't iTunes used to have a menu item that you could click on, to update Genius? I'm using the latest on Mac Lion, and most of my iTunes songs, some are popular , get the Genius message that that song is not in the database.

Your plugins list in "more system details" shows Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_31 for Mozilla browsers so Java should not be blocked.
Could you post a link to a webpage where Java isn't working for you? YouTube uses Flash, not Java. Here is a list of Java test pages you can try, to confirm that Java is working, from http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Testing_Java

By the way, I see in your plugins list that you also have the VLC media player Web Plugin 2.0.0 so, it's possible that the VLC plugin is causing a conflict if YouTube or other videos don't work. See [[Video or audio does not play]] (you may need to disable the VLC Media Player plugin in the Add-ons -> Plugins list for some media to play).

The feature you are looking for is available with iOS 5 or later. You will need to update your iPhone with iTunes on a Mac or PC.

Where is the i pod options gone

Try exploring the iTunes 6 interface, because sometimes with updates of the iTunes programs, iTunes changes. The features are slightly improved or sometimes even moved. This goes for most "lost features." With this problem, however, report back to me if your iTunes shows the iPod source list and updates your iPod. If it is connected and the iPod is in the source list, you can get the same iPod Options when you right click and select iPod Options in the Source list. (I just checked, and it is the same menu.) There are always little hidden "back-doors" into the computer - if you can't do something one way, there has to be a way that it will work. Sometimes they are hidden, and hard to possibly think of, or other times they are in the plain open view. Working a computer and iTunes always takes a little bit of patience and some time.

"More Printers" used to be where the red oval is marked.

Canon Australia has posted the CAPT v3.36 driver for Lion. As stated on this page, be sure to read the document "Registering_OS_X_Lion_en-uk_R.pdf" included with the driver download.

Where has the "any printer" option gone?

In my printer drop down, there are a list of printers, but no "any printer". I need this as I have document that is larger than any of the printers i currently have.

The any printer option seems to have disappeared. My first thought was that it had gone with Lion 10.7.3, but it is also missing in the print dialog on my Mac mini running Snow Leopard. I haven't had a printer that can do larger sizes for quite awhile, so I don't know when it disappeared from the print dialog. You can still select "any printer" & other sizes (I have tabloid as a custom size) in File > Page Setup… in Pages.

Recently updated MBP and Apple Configurator. Since updating the Update iOS option for Apple Configurator forces me to update the iOS. Thoughts?

Since upgrading both the OS and Apple Configurator I can no longer select the option to not update the iOS when I prepare a device. It is currently selected as When update is available. Also the option appears to be grayed out. Any thoughts?

Google maps is now available in the app store and the carrier update that your refering to was for cell data usage while on wifi. It is perfectly fine to do the update. No issues that i had from that update.

If it is hidden from the other profile, it is not in the correct Applications folder. Your Mail should be in your Hard drive -> Applications folder, not your Hard drive -> Users -> yourname -> Applications folder.
If it is in the correct applications folder, it probably was marked as a Parental Control application that is not visible in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts for the user in question that has it missing.

Where has the free/busy option gone in Mavericks' Calendar?

I can't find this option anywhere in the Mac Mavericks Calendar info/edit pane of an event.
My calendar is synced from Mac Calendar to iPhone 4S with today's IOS 7.0.3 update.
The iPhone entries no longer show free or busy like they did before but they do still have the option available in the edit pane.
I'm hoping I'm just being a bit thick!

Bearing in mind that I'm using a straightforward Mac to iPhone sync it's curious that it seems to show for the third-party set-ups and not the 100% Apple-shaped ones!
I've just run a little experiment:
1) opened a Mac Calendar event with a known 'show as: Busy' in TextEdit. The TRANSP field was correctly showing as OPAQUE.
2) refreshed iPhone Calendar and then changed the event to 'show as: Free'.
3) refreshed Mac Calendar and opened the event in TextEdit. The TRANSP field had correctly updated to TRANSPARENT.
This confirms to me that the information is there and properly recorded but, for whatever reason, the field is simply not showing in Calendar under Mac OS X 10.9 for me at this time.
Mavericks has a few annoyances that are nudging me to consider a move back to Mountain Lion.
I had already left feedback for Apple but I will also now file a bug report on the Developer's pages.

Where has the 'custom export' options gone when exporting slideshow iPhoto 9.5.1

I can't remember if my iPhoto has updated recently but all of a sudden i can no longer do a custom export and the only window that pops up is this one
when i used to get this one before
am I going mad, or has this just disappeared.

These options were removed by Apple. No one outside of Apple knows why.

you can update an iPad 1 up to iOS 5.1.1 , you need to connect it to iTunes on a computer and update from there

Please note that iPad 1 goes up to iOS 5.1.1, while iPad 2 goes up to iOS 6.1.3, the (current) latest version. You won't be able to ' choose ' iOS 5.1.1 on iPad 2, it will automatically update to the latest version possible.

If you are under iOS 4.x, you cant update ota (over the air). You need to plug your device to your computer and update it from iTunes.
