Is the XI Business Process Engine similar to R/3 Workflow Engine ?

Is the XI Business Process Engine related to the SAP R/3 workflow engine ?  I can see similar terminology like Container operation between the two workflow depictions.
-Manish

Hi Manish,
the BPM engine is exactly the Workflow engine included in the WAS installation of XI.
You can see that a BPM saved and activated generate a workflow template (don't touch it!).
You'll discover that the monitors of BPM are the tipical transaction of SAP workflow.

  • RED the flag of the Business Process Engine

    Hello!:
    If we access "http://srvprubpoem:50200/rwb",
Component Monitoring-Components- the option Business Process Engine is in RED. There is an "JCO request failed".
Otherwise, if we execute transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING (to see the problems), there is one DUMP with the text "CHECK_FAILED".
The transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING calls the transaction SWFC using the variable SWF_XI_BPM, and here is the other problem.
    Do you know the problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi Alfredo,
Check out SAP note 1052604 - <i>RAISE_EXCEPTION in CHECK_FAILED exception</i>. It seems to give the solution (either a correction or installation of SP13).

  • Business Process Engine in yellow status

    Hi all,
I visit the site http://<hostname>:<port>/rep/start/index.jsp and visit the runtime workbench link. Displaying all in the component monitoring, i saw that the business process engine under Integration Server is in yellow status. I checked the details and found out there are three background jobs that weren't schedule. But i dont know the specifics of these background jobs. It says in the details
-schedule background job for missed deadlines
-schedule background job for worked items with errors and
-schedule background job for deadline monitoring
I hope you can give me a detailed procedure in scheduling these jobs.
    Warm Regards,
    Charm

    Hi,
these jobs are to run to ensure that the approvers of the documents are informed about thier pending workitems which need to be approved.
you can use the transaction 'SM36' for scheduling the jobs, you can find number of jobs which might already be scheduled in your system .
    for example
    jobs for 1 ) CLEAN_REQREQ_UP
               2) BBP_GET_STATUS_2

    Hi,
first thing you should try is:
    1. Start transaction SWU3.
    2. Use the button u201CAutomatic workflow customizingu201D
    it's explained [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10bcbd65-64ea-2a10-9a8d-b653b8e0843c] .

  • Error Business Process Engine

Good afternoon, first of all thank you very much for the support they can provide. I have developed a JDBC interface -> BPM (Multimapping) which works well. Modify a Message Mapping in the BPM that I use for an RFC Lookup, I have added the Configurable Parameters in the BPM and Integration Directory and everything works fine at design time. But when running the interface at run time the message reaches the BPM and the error "error in BPE inbound Permanent processing".
I have reviewed the Business Process Engine in the RWB and the item is Red Schedule Background Job for Reorganization and detail reads: "Background Job for Reorganization = Not Scheduled".
As I can solve this problem. Thank you very much.

    Hello,
Please go to trx SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING and check if all nodes are green.
You can run the Automatic Customizing there to schedule the job for reorganization.
    Kind regards,
    Sarah

  • Business Process Engine is showing Red Led in RWB

Hello to All,       I installed PI7.1 and after client copy - Business Process Engine is showing Red Led in RWB.
When I click on BPE, the message at bottom of screen (in Yellow Status) indicates " Schedule background job for clearing report".  Please let me know if any one has the solution with details.
I gone thru the link in SDN, but no resolution yet.
Re: Business Process Engine is  showing Red Led in RWB
    thanks, Srini

Hi Mark,  All the nodes are green under "Maintain Runtime Environment" and "Maintain Definition Environment".
In RWB, component monitoring --> Display -- Business process engine is RED with message as
"Schedule background job for clearing report" in Yellow.
I looked under batch jobs "SWWCLEAR" and it is already ran successfully.
Please let me know how can i make BPE green.
    thanks, Srini

  • Business process engine

    Hi,
Is the Business Process engine same as the workflow engine in BPM

    hi ,
The administration of the Business Process Management scenario comprises the administration of cross-processes (integration processes) and of process that are embedded in SAP applications (Business Workflows).
The Business Process Engine (BPE) processes integration processes at runtime. Since the BPE uses functions of the Workflow Engine and generates workflows from integration processes at runtime, you must customize the Workflow Engine automatically by using transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING before you can use the BPE.
i hope this answers ur query.

    Saujanya

  • Read about the Redefined Business Process Modeling Methodology Forum

We have moved all obvious technical workflow related questions to the newly renamed SAP Business Workflow forum. That is the place for technical, tool oriented questions.
Our hope is that in this newly renamed forum, the <b>Business Process Modeling Methodology</b> forum, the discussions will focus around methodologies, how to choose a process model and how to use a language that is easily understood by the business. Since process models are often needed to help understand and enable an actual process, we should be discussing best modeling practices here.
In addition, we can discuss various process information gathering techniques. Lastly, we can also discuss here the various enabling technologies available and perhaps further discuss their merits.

SAP PRA (Production Revenue Accounting) module is fairly independent module. It has several sub modules (Production, Contract Allocations & Balancing, Valuation, Revenue Distribution, Royalty Reporting, Tax Reporting, Regulatory Reporting). In the final posting step results are posted in FI using a BAPI. PRA does maintain its own set of tables for keep track of journal entries. PRA is primarily geared towards US market and have reports that comply with US State regulations. However several customers are using it for Production and Contract Allocations globally.

  • Can any please explain the integration business process between PS and CS

    Dear Guru's
Can any please explain the integration business process between Project systems (PS) and customer service (CS).
Business Process: We do machinery Erection or commissioning, later we do provide service warranty for one year.
How we map this Business scenario in sap.
    Regards,
    Bhanu

basic steps for such a process would be
    1) Use PS functionality for your machinery erection or commisioning work. Once the physical work is completed then close porject
    2) Use CS functionality for warranty and service - set up the work as a functional location on customer site (PM/CS functionality)
    3) Use service order to manage any service calls on the object which could require billing via SD module - bill value may be zero if under warranty

  • Message not passed to Business Process Engine

    Hi,
I have a simple test scenario:
File --> Integration Process --> File
The process only has a reveive and a send step and sends the message further using the File adapter (this is just for testing purpose and no real-life scenario).
This works correctly until the message needs to be passed to the Business Process - in message monitoring I can see that the receiver and interface determination worked successfully and that the message needs to be passed to the Integration Process and that's it. No active process, no obvious error message...
Any hints what I could do to analyze what's happening? Where can I find more information on what the problem could be (any additional logs, monitoring, etc.)? What can go wrong when a message is passed from the Integration Engine to the BPE?
    Thanks for your help,
    regards,
    Peter

OK Im trying to understand you....
Your saying that it works correctly until the BPM...
Well this is not possible as the first step would be the sending from the source Business system to the Integration Process so in essence you would have not done anything....
Basically the flow is Comm channel to Pipeline which then sends to BPM which then sends back to the pipeline and to the target system. So in SXMB Moni no receiver would of been foun if you are saying that it doesn't get to the BPM....
    Maybe im not understanding properly....
In fact now that I think about it... Have you specified the message in BPM... (Abstract Interface etc)

  • Need to find a workflow for the following business process

    dear expert:
as we have SD,MM,PP for multiple plant and everybodys work is interdependent with others we find highly challenging to make it synchronised. to manage the situation i thought if we can create an workflow where every event of individual person will trigger and send notification to other members to start his job. the following is a scenerio where i tried to show the sequence of work and respective user module as responsible. please suggest is there any workflow to control the same in sap.
    Style
    Color
    FG create     SD
    Customer info record     SD
    Pricing master     SD
    Ref. Bom     SD
    Contract     SD
    Create Sales order     SD
Create PP matetial (Cut Pnl, Print Pnl, Emb Pnl, Sweing gmt)     PP
Create PP BOM(Create different BOM for Dfferent Material)     PP
    Create Routing     PP
    MRP run     PP
    Purchase Requisition     MM
    Purchase Order     MM

    Dear,
If you have ABAP team with you, an email to user SAP inbox will trigger from each transaction.
We implemented this for PR level for each 1200 individual user / management release authorities, which informs by an email about the status of PR. once the final release done based on purchase group - an email will trigger to central procurement department all responsible persons indicating purchase order awaiting.
NOW material rejection - reference to 122 and 102 movement is under study. Once any material rejected the system send email to procurement, stores personnel and management informing the material was rejected.
Similar, based on the presentations and indepth meeting held with ABAP and FUNCTIONAL teams, workflow can be trigger on each event (not sure the all processes you mentioned in your post). But I hope possibility exists.
THE ONLY POINT YOU SHOULD KEEP IN MIND AND INFORM MANAGEMENT - SYSTEM PERFORMANCE WILL AFFECT A LOT. SYSTEM WILL SLOW DOWN AS MANY WORKFLOWS EXISTS. CONSULT BASIS TEAM ALSO.
    Regards,
    Syed Hussain.

  • How one can define Bus. Process Modeling(BPM) and Business Process Engine

    Hi,
How one can define BPM and BPE in simple terms?
it would be great if once can give practical example.
    thank you,

    hi,
I would compare these with java.
    Eclipse-->Business Process Editor
Java Code(Business logic) --> Business Process (BPM)
Java Compiler --> Buisness process Engine

    Hi Satish,
As per my knowledge, Since the role design is more specific to any client there is no standard classification.
However you can classify them taking leverage of sap provided rule set for RAR or Existing customized ruleset in your landscape, based on that you can start grouping the Tcodes  and start framing the roles.
