Ha Amanda! First, you'll want to make sure your line has been provisioned for Mobile Hotspot service. You can add the feature to allow you to share up to 2 GB of data for 5 other devices for $20.00 per month. Once that is confirmed, please follow these steps to set up your device's mobile hotspot:
Settings> Wireless & Networks> Tethering & Portable hotspot> Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings> check mark next to Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. This will disable all other data access so that the data usage is allocated correctly. When finished using your Xperia Play as a hotspot, remove the check mark from Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Is the iPhone 4 a world phone?

I have an iPhone for and I'm on a local network in Canada (Rogers). I'm travelling to the UK and would like to know if my phone will roam in the UK, or am I bound to wi-fi access only? I don't understand what other posts here are talking about when they mention CDMA, or how to tell if my phone is GSM.

I assume you are speaking of the iPhone 4 and not the 4s, as the title suggest. In the case of the iPhone 4, read the following:
The iPhone 4 on the ATT network is a GSM phone. The iPhone 4 on the Verizon network is a CDMA phone. If you have an ATT iPhone then the answer is yes. If you have a Verizon iPhone, well then you are out of luck, for ATT works off the GSM as does most of the rest of the world, thus allowing it to work as a "world phone".
According to the an FCC filing reported by TUAW (posted Jun 7th 2010), the iPhone 4 antenna pentaband antenna/chipset allows it to operate on the GSM and supports the 900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA. This will allow users who go over seas to have "access to extended 3G networks" over different fequenies allowing the iPhone to connect to "virtually any GSM 3G network in the world"

Can the curve 8330 be a world phone?

Searching online some carriers list the curve as a world phone, others do not. Does it depend on your carrier or your phone?

I am looking for a camera that can take HD videos....
Just for awareness, the camera in the iPod Touch is less than one megapixel. It does 720p video, but still photos are not the greatest.

And also for awareness, there is a product which attaches to the iPod Touch to give you cellular voice capabilities and (slow) internet. Since that product does require you to jailbreak your iPod Touch it can't be discussed further here.

Upgrading through BestBuy? Free Xperia Play

Just wondering if anyone could help me out. I am looking to upgrade my phone, currently the Samsung Alias 2, to The Xperia Play. Currently, (ending Sept 20) I can get the Play for free with new/upgraded 2 yr contract, of course, data pak applies, etc. I also would get an additional $20 back from BestBuy, if I do this online. I am part of a family plan, but have full access, and I want to change just MY phone/contract, and leave the rest of the plan alone. When I "ghost purchased" it last night, after asking if it was an upgrade or new plan, I said upgrade, it tried to set it up as its own family plan, needing to pick 5 phones,etc . I just tried a few moments ago, using the "upgrade my individual contract" option, and it tried setting it up like a standard individual line, not part of a family plan.
All this aside, has anyone out there used BestBuy to upgrade, and is it worth it?

Done it many times in store, never a problem.(that couldn't be fixed) It might be worth the $20 to do it in store to be sure you get what you want.

Is Plants vs Zombies on the Experia Play as a pre-installed app?

My son has an Experia Play, and I noticed on our bill a charge for $2.99, and it is for Plants vs Zombies. I asked him about it, and he said "It was already on the phone, I didn't know it costs money."
Can someone confirm or deny that the app is on the phone without going to the market? Is he feeding me a line of bull?

Well, on the Xperia Play launcher, there are two sections, one with pre-installed games (Xperia PLAY Games), and then another that shows all the available games (More Games), and Plants vs. Zombies is one of those.
The More Games section is a store essentially, and I could see how if you're not aware of what you're doing, you might think that it's included and you just need to download it.

It sounds like even though the Mute switch is not on, sounds are not making the, well, sound they should, and the volume buttons make a blank volume indicator appear on the screen that does not show the volume level.
I wanted to recommend a couple of things.
First, I would reset the phone:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If that does not resolve the issue, then you may want to try backing up to iTunes, and restoring the iPhone again but this time do not restore the backup and set it up as new to see if the issue persists without the previous configuration.

No, it wont work on 3G networks in U.S, it only supports WCDMA 2100 and 900, Whereas to work on U.S 3G networks a device should support atleast WCDMA 850 or 1900 look here

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account. It's assigned when the account is created. But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password. Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't. Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it. If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.
