Is their suppose to be sounds when zooming on this camera?

I have a Fujufilm Water/Shock/Dust/Freeze Proof 12.2 mega pixel camera. This is the camera I have below.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/FUJIFILM+-+FinePix+12.2-Megapixel+Digital+Camera+-+Green/9772631.p?id=12...
When I first got it I took test photos and videos. Well, They all came out great except when I zoomed DURING a video, You could hear it zoom and it was a loud, irritating noise when it zoomed. I mean, You couldn't hear me talking or anything in the backround. Just a loud noise.
Is this camera suppose to make a noise when zooming DURING a video? Or is it just my camera?
Thanks!

Not just point-and-shoots - a common problem with ANY video recording device with an internal microphone.
Tape-based camcorders were notorious for tape noise.  They did a fairly good (but not perfect) job of reducing focus/zoom motor noise, and that was for dedicated video cameras.
In general, you can never expect good audio quality from any device (even a dedicated camcorder) using a built-in microphone.  If you have a camera that does not include a microphone jack (nearly all entry-level camcorders and DSLRs with video, and I think all point and shoots are in this category), if you really need high quality audio you can get an independent audio recorder like the Zoom H1 and splice the audio in during post-editing.  (That's how the professionals do it - that's the whole idea behind the "clapper" in movie production.)

  • White border problem when zooming with SWF in PDF

    Hi Everyone,
I have posted my original querry in the Indesign forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5176893#5176893
I'm having problems with zooming whedn trying to create a PDF with SWF inserted.. at certain levels of zoom I get a white border on the left and right of the document which squashes the content into the middle and makes it a little pixelated.  I also get a thin white border on the right when zooming out.  Does anyone have any ideas where I might be going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Em

Not wishing to be rude, but that workflow is not supposed to be used that way.
InDesign's ability to export SWFs is intended for showing the file in a Web page, and Acrobat's ability to embed SWFs is only intended for small annotations placed within the pages of a conventional PDF file. By placing the entire Layout as a SWF you are in effect playing the entire thing as a movie in Flash Player - all the advantages of the PDF format are completely lost, there is no vector-rendering of any content or text, and users will find it very hard to understand what's going on (the navigation buttons in Acrobat or Reader will not work, text is not searchable or accessible, multiple pages cannot be printed, etc.).
It's not entirely trivial to do this 'correctly', as at the moment we don't have full support in the PDF standard for all the interactive features that InDesign can apply to page objects - that's why they are grouped into PDF and non-PDF in the various selection menus in InDesign. Rather than saving as a SWF you should be using Export to Interactive PDF, and ensuring that the various interactive items and media are all selected on the export dialog.
Basic stuff such as links and video will export just fine that way, and the PDF will preserve everything else in the Layout as native text or graphics so it'll look fine, navigate properly and be searchable. Animations and buttons will not work as expected, so you may have to revise their behavior if PDF is your intended output destination.

  • DR-BTN200's right ear is louder and left ear part makes weird sound when the volume is high

I bought DR-BTN200 a while ago and I've been feeling that the right ear part is louder than left ear part.
Not because of my hearing; if I switched R and L around, I still hear left (original right) louder than the right (original left).
Also if I increase the volume, the left ear part makes a high pitch sound when singer/talker/instrument makes an emphasis in their voice/sound.
Is this a common problem? I didn't drop it at all or anything and I just keep the headphone in the part of bag where I am supposed to put laptop in. From outside I don't see any damage on it either.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • No sound when I connect my Macbook pro (2012) to TV via HDMI!

Hi! I have a problem with the sound when I connect my Macbook pro (bought in 2012) to a Phillips HD TV. The strange thing is that it only happens with some videos (specially youtube videos) but the sound works perfectly with films and audio files I have in my computer, and also when I watch TV online (Eurosport player for instance and other similar applications). It's even stranger because it doesn't happen all the time; last week I tried many times to watch some youtube videos and after unplugging the HDMI cable it seemed to work. As I said, with Eurosport player and many films downloaded in my macbook I don't have this problem (sound is ok all the time), and this is why I'm really confused. I suppose it's not a connection problem, otherwise I wouldn't have sound in any video, right? I've tried two different HDMI's cables but nothing has changed. Please, someone help me, as I can't figure out what's happening. Thank you very much!

Well Im not sure what the fix is for your problem, but can you please open up the sound preference next time you connect the philips tv, and make sure that sound output is set to hdmi out. Then try and play your video's etc and see if they are affected.
I can tell you I get a similar problem when, for example, I have a youtube window open and then connect the external display. The youtube video will not sound out through the cable, however if i refresh the window it works. Also the same when I use bluray player on mac, I have to close it and open it again for the sound to output through the external monitor.

  • Hizzing / bad sound when running from battery power (Ups)?:

Why is my computer (Imac) emitting a hizzing sound when running from the UPS (battery)? I am testing a offline UPS type: POWERWARE Eaton Protection Station UPS 500VA 250W. My Imac is suppose to use max 200 watts of electrity (Imac 24 inch. intel 2.8 Ghz, 4 GB memory). When running from AC there is no sound. When testing (pulling out the cord on the UPS the Imac starts emitting a disturbing hizz / sound)???

I solved it my self. It was OK (no buzz and fuzz) when it was plugged in (when the electicity line was down once and I was running on the UPS battery).....

  • No sound when movies are burned onto DVD

I have sound in my movies when I preview the project before I burn it but after it's burned the sound disappears from the movies... The theme music is there but no sound from the movies. Was I suppose to import sound or something? Please help.

Hi, am not an expert like the others are, but I too had the same problem and read somewhere in this forum that this happens (no sound) if you had chapter markers on your iMovie and you placed the chapter mark at a place that doesnt exactly align with where the music for that chapter starts. So what I did was to go back to my iMovie project, i deleted the previous chapter marker, made sure the music for that chapter started exactly where the chapter started, and then added a new chapter marker. then when you open iDVD, it will prompt you if you want to update your "assets", say yes. then go to Movies and drag that same project in.
I hope it works for you. It did for me (but unfortunately I found out there was no music in one of my chapters only after I had already burned 10 copies!!). Hope you are luckier.

  • Strange sound when switching on the microph

    i use a "sound blaster li've! value".
i don't remember when this strange signal noise had appeared but later found out, that you can hear it only, if you turn on the microphone input.
the noise appears and disappears and it doesn't change if you use or do not use the microphone jack.
my english is too bad to find the right word for the sound but it think this is the most accurate description for it: if you fry an egg in a frying pan you'll get this cracking sound, sometimes it gets louder an if the pan gets colder the sound volume decreases. if you plug a connector into the output jack very slowly you could hear a similar sound.
to solve this problem i tried to change the audio driver, i tried using the "kx project". the problem appears with this driver as soon as i turn on the ac97 chip.
therefore i assume the ac97 chip is broken.
if there isn't a way to solve this, is there a way to use my onbord c-media audio chip parallel to my soundblaster? the c-media chip is crap and i would just use the microphone input, the output should be done by the soundblaster, is this possible?
if somebody has an idea, please answer me!
    thanks, uli

    You are quite welcome.

  • Clip sound when i send files to trash macbook pro early 2008

Hi.I need to ask a question.
Nowdays when i send a file to trash,i hear random a clip sound. Not always but often.I suppose, this short clip is coming from the HD.I'm also hearing this sound  when i save a screenshot or dublicate a file, but again the issue is random and it is not always appearing. I have already run Disk Utilities,Drive Genious and Tech Tool Pro and i didn't get and problem on it.Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Trax and kirt are correct. I'm pretty good with technology, being an engineer and all, and I can tell you for a fact that this 'swoosh' sound (triggered by a successfully sent SMS) can NOT be disabled from ANY menu in iOS 5. The ONLY way to disable it is to flip the silent switch on the left hand side of the phone. This is extremely annoying for some people (like trax, kirt, and myself). For what we pay for Apple products and, in particular, this phone, we simply didn't expect to have to deal with such annoyances. That's why we're Mac users. Please fix this bug.
I feel like I shouldn't have to say this but it bears repeating: turning off message sounds from the 'sounds' menu does not fix his problem. It still emits the swoosh noise. Whoever suggested this clearly didn't try it because it obviously doesn't work. Who posts a solution to a problem without knowing for a fact that their solution is correct? I find that response condescending because he writer is assuming we're not smart enough to have tried it. In reality, it's vice versa.

  • Is powernap supposed to play sound notifications?

My macbook is always connected to the power adapter and I use it in closed lid clamshell mode with an external display and input devices. I believe my macbook does sleep in the night but often times I hear new mail notification sounds from my speakers in the night and in the morning! I believe it might be fetching emails using power nap but my question is, is it supposed to play sound notifications during power nap?
Please let me know so that I can ensure if my macbook is entering proper sleep or not. Any log I can see to find out if it has slept at given times?

The following Knowledge Base article provides some great information about Power Nap and the question you ask:

    Silence
During Power Nap the lights go out on your computer. System sounds also run silent with no fans (Flash storage Macs only, not including Fusion Drive). When your Mac wakes up, it’s ready to go.
Note: If you use the Play Sound or Send Message feature of Find My Mac, Power Nap does not make a sound.

  • No Sound When Converting to Cineform AVI with Adobe Media Encoder

I've found that I totally prefer to convert my AVCHD files to Cineform AVI, it looks great and is much easier to edit for sure! I did it using the trial version of Neoscene but found I can do it via Premiere and the Adobe Media Encoder. so, I tried the later two.
When I first tried with Neoscene I didn't have sound with the converted files. I tried to trouble shoot this in a couple of ways that were suggested online. The thing that finally worked was downloading and installing some ac3 thing...
When I later converted using adobe media encoder it didn't have audio. I can't seem to find a resolve anywhere for this. It does however have audio if I do it through Premiere. But, that would be a tedious process to convert a lot of files through premiere, it would be profoundly easier using the media encoder.
So, does anyone know how i can fix this?

I haven't posted on the cineform website, I assume they want people to straight up buy their stuff and prefer people are ignorant to the fact they can do it through AME for free (provided they already have it). It's convienent for them that it is broken, encouraging people to buy their software... (assuming they think like this;).
I don't know what HDLink is... I don't know what you mean by "the AC3 thing" either...
Thanks for the prompt posting, I would love to know how to resolve this!!!

  • I am losing sound when I export my quicktime video clip into imovie

    Hi everyone,
I have a sony cybershot camera that also takes video. These videos play fine on quicktime but could not be used in imovie until I converted their format using quicktime pro. However, when I do this I get the video but it drops the sound. I did some investigating and found that the quicktime player keeps the audio and video seperate and for some reason the video is not sent when I change formats (i.e. .mov to mpeg-4). Does anyone know how I can get the sound to transfer as well so I can use the whole video + sound in imovie.

Sony Digital cameras usually save their video files as "muxed" MPEG-1 (MPEG VX) content which is "playback only" compatible with QT applications. Thus, when you use QT based applications to perform your conversion, only the video content makes it through the conversion process. In this case you need to use a third-party, MPEG-based utility to perform your conversions. iSquint (free), MPEG Streamclip (free), FFmpegX (donation-ware, and Visual Hub (pay-ware) are all popular Internet downloads which will work for you. iSquint is probably the easiest to use but limits your conversion to MPEG4/AAC and H.264/AAC compression formats which are compatible with iMovie '08. I prefer MPEG Streamclip which is more full featured and allows the use of additional formats such as DV and AIC/AIFF but is not as simple to use.

  • Play sound when awaking from sleep?

Hello! I'd like to make my Mac play a sound (.aif file) each time it awakes from sleep... any way to do this? How about playing a sound when starting up?
    Thanks!
    John Berry
    iMac g5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi, John.
    1. SleepWatcher isn't a tool for Terminal newbies, but it's the only utility of its kind of which I am aware. My book focuses on troubleshooting — valuable on its own — but not programming: implementing tasks with utilities like SleepWatcher is clearly in the programming category and involves writing shell scripts or AppleScripts.
I don't do programming tutorials on the Discussions since they can become very time consuming and if you make errors, then we get into a long thread trying to resolve them, which can be very difficult using a vehicle like the Discussions. I try to focus my limited time here on helping people troubleshoot their Macs. For questions like your post, I try to point them in the right direction or give them steps that can be accomplished without programming. I'm sure you can appreciate that.
    2. You wrote: "Also, I can add my file to the Login Items pane but it doesn't automatically play -- QT starts up, loads the file, but it doesn't play automatically..."I see you sorted that out. I suspect you did so by changing the default application for the sound file in question to QuickTime and have QuickTime preferences set to play movies automatically when opened.
With QuickTime Pro you can save any sound file as a .sfil file and use PlaySnd to play it via Method B in my prior post.
    3. You wrote: "I've been a Mac user since 1984... it was easy then, your file just went in the Startup Items folder (that doesn't seen to have the same function anymore...)."It still does.
Whether something is placed in /Library/StartupItems or added to your account's Login Items depends on if it is a System-wide function that should be started for all users before any users log in (e.g. enable the process used by anti-virus solution), or execute when a specific user logs in, respectively.
The SleepWatcher case is different: you need to know how to program the specific action you want the Mac to perform when sleep is invoked using a shell script.
There are plenty of resources available to learn the Terminal and Shell Scripting.
    - I recommend some books and other online resources in my "Learning About Mac OS X" FAQ.
    - Once you've made some headway in learning Terminal, one can find a plethora of resources concerning shell scripting with this Google search.
    - There are a variety of Developer-related Apple Discussions for asking coding questions concerning UNIX/Terminal, AppleScript, etc.
    - You could always e-mail SleepWatcher's author (his e-mail address is at the bottom of his Web page) for advice.
Why not take up the challenge of learning Terminal and a bit about shell scripting? It can be fun as well as a valuable skill. We only grow by challenge!

  • Clicking sound when I insert CD/DVD

I just want to ask if that clicking sound is normal. Because it sound really, really bad.

Hi Keith, it really hard for me to tell, because I cannot hear it myself.
But my macbook and all other 2 in my office all produce clicking sound when those macbook start up, or pull the disk into the optical drive, and I consider that normal.
Visit apple store and compare your "clicking" sound with their display unit, and if they produce similar sound, then consider that normal.
    Good Luck.
