My iphone 4S is requiring me to connect to itunes via USB to do the latest software update, 8.1.2. The phone is just locked out of any normal functionality, just the itunes connect screen.
I have tried to just do an update for the software, but it says I have to do a factory restore and will lose all photos, videos, documents, etc.
I am guessing this is because I have less that 1G of free space.

No. The state that your phone is in recovery mode, there is no data on the phone.
You must use iTunes to restore your phone and then use the last backup that you have

That means there's no videos left on the iPad, and the downloads aren't really there.
Sounds like a job for Apple Support. They'll have to remove the downloads from the queue to clear the iPad.

I wanted my teenager's AppleID to be different from mine so that she couldn't charge stuff to my AppleID, therefore I created me another one. Now when I go to Sync either device, it tells me that this IOS device can only be synced with one AppleID. Then I get a message to erase it, not going to do that, lol. If I logout as one ID and login as the other, will it still retain all synced information on the PC from the first IOS device? If I can just log in out of the AppleID, then I have no problem doing that as long as the synced apps, music, etc stays there for both. I am not trying to copy from one to the other, just want to make sure I have a backup for the UhOh times. If logging in and out on the same PC of multiple AppleIDs is acceptible then I need to be able to authorize the PC for both devices. Thanks for the help. I am new to the iOS world.

I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. e.g. Java application is downloaded into 'Games and More' and there is a requirement to execute the program from an ODP (On-Device-Portal). The ODP is external to the 'Games and More' folder but within the same mobile device.

Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.

I'd like to prevent third party access to selected directories in my computer. So, I'd like to be able to lock selected directories with a password, like we can do for word/XL files. I do not prefer to create a new user for my notebook as the people who will be using my notebook needs to use it while I am logged in.

OS X has no such feature. However, you can encrypt the folder using Disk Utility, or create an empty encrypted container of a selected size, which will open as a mounted folder/disk when you try to access it via a password.

I was wondering if there is a way to retrict access to a column in a BI BEANS crosstab report. The scenario is, if a particular user has the priviledges to see the profit column in a crosstab, but another user doesn't is there any way to stop the less restricted user from seeing this column using the same BI BEANS report?
This is really the alternative to having 2 reports, 1 with the profit column and 1 without, and depending on what user is logged in, it will show one or the other.

This is an interesting question.
If I presume you are talking about an OLAP data source where data does not reside in an Analytic Workspace, then the following is true :-
The BI Beans respects database security and therefore the user has access to a particular schema(s) and table(s) in the database.
When talking about cubes, you must remember a cube is mapped to a particular Fact table and dimensions.
Because a Measure is a constituent sub-component of a cube, unless the measures are sourced from different fact tables with different user privileges, then it would be difficult to discriminate against users and hide columns or measures.
Basically, what I am saying is:
A cube is the finest granularity at which users can be differentiated.
A cube maps to a fact table, hence this is the level at which the DB grants are applied.
Unless measures belonged to different cubes, and hence different fact tables, then it would be impossible to discriminate against users and access to different columns/measures.
What you could do however, at the BI Beans application level is :-
Before displaying a presentation object, you could filter the Query programmatically and remove components which you did not want to display i.e. measures etc.
This would require more leg work with the presentation object and filtering the embedded query, but would achieve the same effect. You would have to work out a method of validating users too and what they had access to.

Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Later versions of OS X.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

Okay I have an apple IPod touch 4g 8gb and it will not turn on or charge or even show that the ipod needs to be charged so I am wondering if my IPod needs to be sent in to be fixed or if I should get a new one or if there is a possible way to recover it??

This is the first time it shut off and would not charge what so ever. you just have to close completely you Ipod (push 5-10 seconds on the button to open/close you ipod and slide the turn off) after open the ipod and it suppose to be correct I hope I answer to your question!

So, I bit the bullet. I've always wanted to upgrade to the iPhone 5 from my existing iPhone 3Gs, before I do so, I sort of got the iPod Touch 5G first.
Now to the main question,
"Is there any virtually possible way to connect my iPod Touch 5G 6.1.2 to my iTunes 10.6.3 running on my MacBook with OSX 10.5.8?!?"
I'm still lucky that my iPhone 3Gs still can run on 5.1.1 and sync nicely with my current mac, but I need a new phone. I already have a desktop workstation and I still do have all my data/etc on my laptop.
Or must I have to buy Snow Leopard (if it's still available) and upgrade my old Mac's OS to do so? If so, is it still worth while to purchase SL, or would it be abandoned very soon since it's also considered "old"? and getting a new laptop is quite expensive too as a solution.

This works for 4G iPod and iOS 6. However, it may not work for the 5G because of the Lightning cable. The Lightning cable has active componets and thus it may need OSX 10.6.8 or later to work.
