Is there a backup for contacts on Icloud?

I did a misstake when I installed my sons iPhone. I deleted contacts that came whit iCloud on my sons iPhone and now they are gone from my iPhone aswell. I need them back!
Is there a backup in iCloud?

No. The iCloud online address book is what keeps all other connected devices and computers synced. If a contact is deleted from the iCloud online address book, it will be deleted from all connected devices and computers as well.
Contacts are included with the iPhone's backup. If the iPhone's backup hasn't been updated since the contact was deleted from the iCloud online address book, you can try restoring the iPhone with iTunes from the backup. Don't update the iPhone's backup before doing so.

Unless as part of a backup, or stored somewhere else, they are gone.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. He can continue to use yours for iTunes content, but for everything else, he needs his own.
When you did what you did, as far as iCloud knows, this is the same person with multiple devices, and that's they way things are supposed to work: keep everything in sync.

ICloud backup for contacts and Exchange server

I have my iPhone and iPad synchronizing to an Exchange server at work - this is where my calendar, contacts, and email live. I'm wondering about this "backup to iCloud": if I do, how does this work? What I can't have is another set of contacts/calendar data somewhere that might someday get pushed to my phone and from there *back* to the Exchange server - I've had this problem before and I can't afford to have the correct "master copy" of the data messed up by synchronization from anywhere else. On my iPhone, when setting up iOS5, I didn't disable it, and how when I try to turn off synchronizing contacts with iCloud, it says something like "there's a set of sync data on the phone, delete it?". I don't want it to delete anything that will affect the contacts (etc.) that was correct on the phone, and might get pushed to the Exchange server and delete stuff from there. How will this work and what exactly gets copied to/from iCloud with respect to these things?

+1... issue started with 10.10.1... very annoying as now all iMessage contacts are showing with just numbers...

Can't backup my contacts to iCloud for transfer to my new IPhone 6

I currently am using my iPhone 5, and have tried every way that I know of to back up my contacts so that I can transfer them to my new iPhone 6+. I tried backing up by plugging in my iPhone 5 at night so it can backup, and I also tried backup through iTunes. Neither approach will update my contacts list. All I have is an incomplete list from sometime in the past. How can I solve this so I can activate my new phone and not lose my current contacts. I'm not very tech savvy, so please list all necessary steps.
This also makes me wonder what else may not be fully backed up. Thanks for any help.

Try looking for a 3rd party tool on google, Apple wont supply a way to do it because apple doesnt want to go in and ruin your back up, if you use icloud you can go to icloud.com, sign in with your apple id and see if your contacts are there.

Backup for contact info on Pre

My Palm pda allowed me to backup calendar and contact information onto my computer. Although I understand that my calendar is backed-up through Google Calendar, I don't know how to backup all the contact info on my phone.

Hello and welcome to the forums;
Google also can back up your contact information the same way it backs up your calendar. In the Contacts app under Preferences and Accounts, set Google as your Default Account, and every future contact you enter will be backed up to google, and you can see all of those contact records on your device as well as in Gmail.
As for information that is currently in your phone, if you did not have google as the default account, those contacts are stored to the Palm Profile. If you want to copy that information to google, for each contact you can tap Send Contact > Send via Email and that will create a .VCF file for that contact that can then be imported into google. This is currently an individual process, and would need to be repeated for each contact to be copied.

Is there a fix for Contacts will not update in Outlook from iphone visa vera

I cannot say when the problem began, however, if I make a change in a contact on the iphone it won't update OUtlook on my PC and visa versa. It will add completely new contacts but won't update anything that already exists. Is this a general problem? Is there a fix?

I need to turn off sync for contacts to icloud, help?

icloud on iphone6, contacts is "OFF", but itunes syncs contacts to cloud instead of outlook. how can i change the sync to outlook? I tried all possible settings on the phone but itunes remains defaulted to icloud sync for my contacts. any help??

Log onto ePrintCenter and select the print app that you wish to pause. Click on “setup,” then “Update settings,” then choose “Pause” for the desired amount of days. You can also select the print app from the printer panel and select “pause”.

There has been no official word on the fate of iWeb, iDisk, or web hosting. There has been no official word on what features of iCloud will require Lion and iOS 5 and what will work on earlier OS versions. I'm sure Apple will let everyone know the answers sometime within the next 12 months.

Lost all my contacts in iCloud

I have just purchased a new Mac. My son and I both have iPhones and we synced our phones with the new Mac using iCloud. My contacts appeared on his phone and visa versa. Unfortunately he spent the afternoon deleting all the duplicates and my work numbers on his phone which subsequently deleted all my contacts. I ended up with his school friends and my whole business directory deleted. Apart from killing him (just joking) what can I do to retrieve my contacted? As its a new computer I don't expect very much but I'm sure someone will have an idea. Can I undo what he has done in iCloud. Is there an automatic backup for contacts in iCloud? Wasn't that the whole point of this to begin with? I'm really freaked out that he may have deleted all my contacts. Please help.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unless you have the contacts backed up somewhere, you won't be able to restore them.
You and your son should have your own iCloud accounts then you can keep your own contacts and calendars etc and avoid deleting each others.

Not able to transfer my contacts to icloud

I have got some new contacts and automatic backup for contacts to icloud is enabled in iphone. But when I login to icloud to check the new contact, I could not find it. This means icloud backup is not happening.
I also connected the phone to itunes and then tried to take the backup. the backup completed successfully but still I cant find new contacts in my icloud account.

iCloud contacts are not part of the iCloud backup, they are just stored in iCloud and synced between your devices.

I'd say your best bet is to try to regain access to your old account. Call 1-800-MY-APPLE, and ask to talk to the account security team. Hopefully they can verify you are the account owner, and then reset the password for you.
