Is there a "best way" in Adobe CC 2014 to scale 720p to 1080?

Meaning is their a visible difference if I do it on the PPro timeline vs, say doing the scaling in AME or After Effects?
Does one method give "better" results than another?

Actually, just completed some tests upscaling in Sorenson Squeeze and the results are really quite good.
Probably go that route unless a better idea is offered.

I'm a little bit confused about the right way to create unique objects ids, a way not depend on a database.
There seems to be several approaches to do this:
1.The class java.rmi.dcg.VMID states: 'A VMID is a identifier that is unique across all Java virtual machines.
It generate a uuid which can be convertet to a String.
2.The class net.jini.id.Uuid states: 'A 128-bit value to serve as a universally unique identifier. Two Uuids are equal if they have the same 128-bit value. Uuid instances can be created using the static methods of the UuidFactory class.
3.The W3C org seems to have a guid generation.
4.If you search the internet you will find several other implementations, like www.doomdark.org/doomdark/proj/jug/
Why exist so many implementations of this feature?

Generating a true UUID is by nature plaform dependent, and should IMHO be implemented by the JRE/language libraries. Native code that is not a part of the JRE is always a problem, especially in J2EE environment. In addition, true uuids are useful in very many programming situations. Also, the random based versions are pretty dangerous, and can cause pretty nasty problems.

In my experience, Adobe tools just aren't very good as frame rate conversions. I'd recommend a reshoot at the proper frame rate, or searching around for alternate tools.

Best way to import BC4J projects or packages?

This is a question on how to structure three BC4J Projects, where two of them refer to the third.
Here is my question:
I have a project "Model", which contains all entity objects and associations. It represents more or less the data model of the underlying database. This project is a sort of "library-project" which contains the common parts of the two other projects.
The two other projects "Project1" and "Project2" each contain a set of specific view objects, view links and application modules to do the work they are intended to do. Both of them must import the "Model" project as they use the entity objects and associations, which are defined there.
If "Model" were just a simple jar file, this would be easy: Just include the jar file as a library, and that's all. But as "Model" is in fact a BC4J project, things are getting more complicated.
My solution now is to explicitely import all BC4J packages of "Model" to "Project1" and "Project2". This is neccessary in order to be able to refer to the entity objects of "Model" from the Wizards in "Project1" and "Project2".
But this causes a real mess in "Project1" and "Project2" as all packages defined in Model are explicitely included to theese projects and all of them appear in the Navigator.
What I really want, is to just include a sort of library (the "Model-Library") and to be able to refer to all BC4J objects defined in this library from the wizards.
Is there a simple way to achive this? Is there a best way to get as near as possible to this? How do other developers solve this problem?

BC4J design time has specific features to support exactly this use case, and your choice of organizing the projects this way is exactly the way the feature was intended.
Use the BC4J Deployment wizard to produce a simple JAR archive for the "library module" that has your business model (EO's and Assocs)
Then in Project1:

[*]Define a library, say called "BusinessModel" or whatever, that has the above-produced JAR file as its archive
[*]Make sure "BusinessModel" library is added to Project1's library list
[*]Use the project-level right-mouse option "Import Business Components..." to import the business module package. This will present a file dialog that allows you to navigate into the JAR file above as if it were a directory and drill down to select the packagename.xml file for the package of components you want to import.

Then, the common business model package (or packages, if required) appear in the system navigator as "read only" components and can be used in the wizards as you build your view and appmodule components in Project1.

Best way to adjust lighting in video clips

Is there a "best" way to adjust lighting conditions within a video clip? I have a clip with terrible lighting conditions and cannot reshoot the scenario.
While I don't expect a perfect solution, I am hoping that there are better approaches than the ones I've been using. If recommendations include third-party plugins, I would appreciate hearing about them, as well.
I have been using the gamma corrector and luma corrector filters. The gamma corrector adjustments in greater values, but seems to only work in discrete steps. So, if the gamma needs to be stepped up or down within a clip, there is a very visible and sometimes jarring visual effect. The luma corrector seems to only be able to increase the brightness level (through a combination of all 5 or 6 variables including brightness, gain, gamma, etc.) before the clip looks washed out.

You could then go into 3-Way Color Correction.
You could also look at a more powerful CC such as Colorista 2

Is there a best way to fade out multiple tracks at the end of a song? I have read the manual and understand fading "A" track, but not if my song is ending and I want to fade out all tracks equally.
I thought I could export the file as a wav or MP3 (like I would do if I was fading out an Apple loop), then bring it back in and fade the track I import it to, but wanted to know if anyone else had any tips or tricks they use.

Best way to configure "announcement only" mailbox

We have a client with 2951 router with Cisco CME v8.x. They need to have their receptionist be able to call in and change the school information message from an external number. They told me that they used to be able to dial in on the main number and then push 1 to dial by extension. When they called into that extension they could push * and get into the mailbox and then access the prompt customization part of the AvT. That isn't working and doesn't really make sense to me. I have tried to dial by extension and dial the AvT extension and it says invalid number. If I make the voicemail box for the extension in question an "announcement only" they cannot push * and change the greeting. Is there a best way to configure this senario to make it easy for the receptionist to change the school information announcement from an external number? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Its been a while I did this but if I remember correctly, need dial the pilot number to access the mailbox. So when your client dials the main number, after that dial the voicemail pilot number, then enter the user ID as mailbox of announcement only, it should then give you the options to record the greeting.
I have dismantled my lab temporarily due to some renovation otherwise I would have quickly confirmed for you from there...but do try above and let us know how you go...

I have had an ipod touch for some time and have just got an iphone. Ideally I want to keep the ipod touch for music, games etc and use the phone purely for internet, phone etc and maybe a couple of cd's on there. Is there a best way to sync them both - ie something I should make sure I tick when I set up the iphone or will it handle it automatically.

iTunes on your computer will keep them separate. I have 2 iPhones and 1 iPod Touch all syncing to the same computer, with different playlists, apps, contact groups, etc., on each of the devices.

It will not update the stored procedure rather it generates the scripts. You can validate and execute the script later.

I recently purchased a Canon HD camcorder and hope to burn the video onto Blu Ray discs in the future. Until I get a burner, what is the best way to save the video files to preserve the 1080 HD?

Just keep your projects and events. You can share the projects in multiple formats. Later, you can go back and share the movie as a quicktime movie that can be burned using toast. You can do this today without a bluray burner. Also, look into a little device called Western Digital Media Player. You can use this with a USB hard drive and just export your movie as HD.

My backup plan is to use Time Machine to make a backup to an external disk drive plus I also do a clone of my system disk. So far between the bootable clone and the Time Machine backup this plan has covered all of my needs.

As of June 2014, none of the Adobe Reader mobile products support the hyperlink action for opening a separate PDF document.

In addition, the Reader mobile products do not open multiple windows/documents simultaneously, which would make the navigation between PDF documents nearly impossible. (Once a hyperlink takes you to a different PDF document, you have no way to go back to the original PDF document.)

How to find out?

The best way would be to find and query the AcroRd32.exe executable. The file version information is stored in the executable itself.
There are lots of places in the registry that you could also potentially access relevant information.
For example the uninstall string:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Contains a string that you could use to search for the application version.
How you would do this in .NET I'm not sure but you would use some kind of text search command to search for the relevant text and then use "if exists" condition.
