Is there a big difference?

I'm thinking about picking up a mac mini. I was thinking about just going with the 1.8Ghz, as opposed to the 2.0Ghz. I doesn't seem like there is a big advantage with going with the 2.0Ghz. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Bear in mind that there are other differences between the two models, not just the superdrive on the $799 system.
The base hard drive size is also different, with the 1.83 model having an 80Gb unit and the 2.0 a 120. Also, the cheaper system has 2Mb shared L2 cache, while the $799 model has 4Mb, in keeping with the iMac.
It's still true that more RAM in the base model will help it outperform standard RAM in the faster system, but there are some applications for which the greater cache size would be valuable - particularly given that additional RAM could be added later if funds don't stretch that far at the outset.

  • Would there be a problem with the warranty in the UK if bought in USA? Plus is there a big difference between US and UK keyboards? Thanks

Hi, I'm from the UK and in the USA for a week. I'm thinking of purchasing an Air. Would there be a problem with the warranty in the UK if bought in the US? Plus is there a big difference between US and UK keyboards?
    Cheers

There are subtle differences on a British layout, mainly having to do with the top line (shift numbers), to permit the use of European monetary symbols. There are a few other keys different (note the enter key).
Here are the basic layouts. Obviously the MBA won't have an eject key, as the power key resides in that location.

  • Is there a big difference between 17 & 16 wat subwoofer ?

    Hey users ,
    I was making a compare between Inspire 4.1 4400 & PCWorks 5.1 LX520 .
I got shocked when I discovered that the 4400 subwoofer is 7 wat
    &the 520 subwoofer is only 6 wat !!
    So , Is there a big difference between 7 & 6 wat subwoofer ?
and I know which in the two models are better ?
especially in music & games .

That RAM is soldered in. No sockets. No upgrading later.
    Your question is:
¿Will I EVER need the 16GB in the time I expect to own this MacBook?
--NO, save $200 and if you ever run short, sell the machine and buy a different one.
--ELSE, spend the extra US$200 and don't think about it again.

  • Is there a big difference between Intel Iris Pro graphics and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

Is there a big difference between Intel Iris Pro graphics and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, is it worth paying an extra $200?

Software support of graphics card is key.   If no graphics card is mentioned in software specs, then it can be ignored.  Mostly games and high end image and video graphics software are affected.

  • Is there a big difference from the 2009 vs 2011 Macbook pro 15?

I also would like to know if there is a big difference between the 2009 vs 2011 macbook Pro 15"?If so is it enough to make me want a BRAND NEW MACBOOK PRO 15"?

    Yes!
    The new macbook pro has:
    1. Faster processors, with option for QUAD Core!
    2. Thunderbolt!
    3. Larger harddrive
    4. Better camera (HD)
Also, Lion is now available! If you buy the old one, you would have to pay extra to upgrade to lion later.

  • Why there are big differences in the prices of spare parts (hinge) ..?? particular egypt ibm

I have Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 with problem in left hinge lcd , the number of it i think (41W5214) 15.4 lcd.
lenove egypt (IBM) was told to me cost 100 $ but in Many sites (hinge) cost betwen 19 $ , 30$ , 80 $
i want to understand why there are a big difference betwen prices , and why the ibm egypt is  Highest price...!!!
i was asked  ibm egypt can replace (Repair) it , if I bought one by my self from internet , but refuse my Request and told to me you must bought it from egypt ibm !!!
    thank you

it`s hinge!!!! just Metal hinge !!??
not hardware like ram or H.d or vga.....etc
original or not it`s nothing important like other hardware must be original
if you see the hinge pic (41W5214) you will know what i mean about 80$ differences in the prices
    and
why lenovo Egypt refuse my Request to replace (Repair) it , if I bought one by my self ??
the answer is Forced to purchase an Expensive one from lenovo Egypt "kind of business" and customers not important to agree or disagree
I hope Lenovo tighten the control of the Egypt Branch, with some simplification

  • Is there a big difference between the 2.6 and the 3.0?

I am getting a macpro, and will be doing video editing with final cut. Should I spend extra for the 2 3G processors or will the 2.6 prove to be enough power for editing with final cut?

Yes the 2.66GHz is powerful enough for video editing.
Be aware that while the 3GHz is "13% more powerful" for the most part you won't notice a difference as this difference will only come into play when your cores are being saturated which they won't be. While you're editing the difference will actually be in the low single digits if anything at all.
Now, when it comes to encoding and high continuous processing the difference will be noticed. Again, not rhe full 13% as this would require a full multi-threaded efficiency of FCS and Mac OS X which there isn't. You will get around a 8-10% difference though. So, on a 10 hour encode you're looking to save less than an hour on that time. Whether that's worth the difference to you I have no idea.
If you budget is tight then you're better off spending that money on the ATi X1900 XT, RAM and hard drives.

  • Is there a big difference with the SR MBPs?

ik have to option to buy (from apple) a refurbished macbookpro 17inch C2D at a great price.
i had almost decided on buying it for sure, when i realised it is the model before the santa rosa mbps.
    my question is:
are the santa rosa mbps allot less buggy, or allot faster, or anything significamt or should i go with the old one.?

I have the original MBP and the new one with the Santa Rosa chipset, both 15" models---the only differences I see are a longer time between battery charges, the capability to add up to 4 GB of memory as opposed to the 2 GB limit on the older one (or 3 GB for newer "older" ones), and a little cooler.
Overall, my two MBPs seem about the same in terms of performance (slight edge to the SR MBP), and the display looks the same to me, as well. Neither are or were ever "buggy"---the older one has been a pleasure to work on, and still is. The new one is just as nice.
You can read a longer comparison I made a few weeks ago here:

  • Why is there a big difference in price for the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and other software???

I am looking at selling the ADOBE PRO 9 range of software but i am confused as to why one is selling at £20 and another at £200. The packaging is exactly the same and they look the same, so can anyone tell me why this is?? I had a customer asking me was it a student version or a full retail version and did it have a licence?? Do you get a licence with the cheaper version?? I will be very grateful if you could explain why the prices are so different.
    Allison

One, you are in the COMPLETELY wrong forum for Acrobat... click the Adobe Forums link above-left and choose Acrobat from the list
Two, if you are selling software, you need to ask Adobe the price you should charge... and be careful you do not buy your stock from China, since it is most likely a pirate version
The SPACE here is provided by Adobe for users to help each other, but this is NOT Adobe support

  • Is there a big difference between MSI K8N SLI and MSI K8N SLI Platinum motherboa

i am a bit tight on budget, so I was wondering if I should get the MSI K8N SLI motherboard instead of the MSI K8N SLI Platinum motherboard (my previous choice),.......what do u guys say ?

    Hi,
Note that he is not talking about the Neo4 versions, looks like in the US MSI has different products:
    Here is the K8N SLI:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=681
And here is the K8N NEO4 SLI:
    http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4/SLI&class=mb
One has Sound blaster, the other does not.
Besides, K8N SLI Platinum has only one LAN.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=641
While the Neo4 Platinum has two.
    http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4_Platinum/SLI&class=mb
A bit confusing right !? Remember that this forum is accessed by people all over the world.
The thing is that the Neo4 and the related non-Neo are using the same BIOS AFAIK.
