Is there a canned portal user stats report?

Hi..I have been asked to provide a report on which users have logged in, accessed what inside the Oracle Portal, how long they stayed on, etc., etc... Is there a canned report inside Oracle Portal somewhere for doing this? If not, has anyone written either an app, portlet or some code to do this?

You can have a look at Metalink Note : 218911.1 - How to Retrieve the SSO Username in Reports.
You just need to have a User Parameter named "AUTHID" in your Report to access the SSO UserName. Your Reports need to be " SSO Enabled " for this to work.

Can S_PLO_86000028 Financial Statement report generate Cost-center report?

I've tried with S_PLO_86000028 Financial Statement report and it could generate report based on Profit Center but when I tried with Cost Center, it show no record. Can this report generate cost center wise report?

S_PL0_86000028 is a new FI report for Financial Statement, created by tool Report Painter with tcode FGI1 (Create Drill-down Report).
For adding new columns, I think we can modify the form it used (0SAPBSPL-01)
It's not a good idea to copy it to z-program 'coz I still struggle with it and doesn't work well.

User Stat Summary Reports not showing everyting

I use RoboHelpx5 with ROboEngine / no source control.
When you pull user Stat Reports there is a graph at the top
showing a summary. They worked fine since Sept 2005. We had to
build a new engine on new servers (we got bought by a big company)
and had to migrate to their servers. Now, poof, the summary graph
is gone and I need it back for a big presentation.
My server guy has tried multiple things but is getting
inconsistent results.
By the way, how do you get a Junion Member/Sr Member Status?
I've been on here since 2005 and just noticed it.

The inconsistencies occurring are when he is trying different
things to fix the issue. So, for example, if he replaces the image
it works sometimes and sometimes it does not.
We thought there might be a permissions issue somewhere. Any
ideas?

How to prevent a portal user from using the BEx Analyzer ?

Hi,
we have different type of users : most users may use the portal as well
as the analyzer ;
we have one special user with extended authorizations : this user
should use the portal , where he has a limited set of queries to run
with hardcoded filters ==> this user should not be able to use the
analyzer however, since he then would be able to call all other queries
by using the find function ;
how can we make sure this user cannot use the analyzer , using SAP
authorizations ?

Hi,
if I remove the complete S_RFC authorization for the user then the BEx Analyzer cannot connect anymore to the BW system, but neither can the user run reports from the portal : it needs the S_RFC with 'SYST'.
If I only remove the RRMX from the S_TCODE and from the S_RFC, it does not prevent the user from starting the BEx Analyzer and connecting to the BW system. It only stops the user if he would start the RRMX transaction from within an SAPGUI session.
Perhaps there should be a value in the S_RFC that allows connections from the portal but not from the BEx Analyzer .... ?

Read Portal User ID in BW report to filter records

Hi,
I need to filter my records in BW report based on the
business partner who logs into Portal.
(BW report is getting called thur IView in Portal)
Is there any way i can fetch the Portal User id
during the execution of BW report? so then i can filter
records by writing code in user exit.
I tried using variable sy-uname, but it populates
the BW user id and not portal user id.
Please reply if anybody knows solution to this query.

My understanding:
You need to filter the query by the Business Partner ID and not by User name and Business Partner number and BW User ID are both different.
If you want to filter by User name:
Why don't you try using SSO through EP and that way you would get the ID of the person logged in.
If you are using user mapping:
Or what you could do is maintain the mapping in an info object/table in BW and query against the same.
If you are using Business Partner:
Populate the business partner master which will have the user name attached and that way you would be able to get the Business partner ID.

Can I use SAP HR to drive ESS Portal user creation?

We are implementing a new instance of SAP HR and Portal for ESS and MSS and I am not sure of all the steps that need to be completed so any guidance / tips would be greatly appreciated.
Company currently has an LDAP - but not used extensively. Not all employees currently in LDAP as not all have network ids. All employees will have a SAP account to enable ESS (via Kiosks etc). ESS iViews in Portal will call SAP HR and possibly SAP BW. We have an instance of SAP already and user admin maintained via CUA - this will continue.
Scenario:
My initial thoughts are that we try to use SAP HR as the leading system to drive the ESS Portal users and access. Basically I want to create the user in SAP and assign them an ESS SAP role... then through syncronization have the user created in the Portal and have the correct ESS Portal assigned (in the Portal)
My thinking so far is to go the following way;
1) Create User Master Record in SAP (SU01)
2) Hire employee into the org structure (via HR processes)
3) Populate Infotype 0105 with SAP username
4) Populate Infortype 1016 - with SAP role to be assigned to allow ESS access (not sure about this aspect) or role could be assigned in 1) above
I am not sure of the next steps - I think there must be a way in an SAP table to map the ESS SAP role to the ESS Portal Role (is this via WP3R?)
then I am hoping that a standard job can be run (is this RSLDAPSYNC_USER) that will create the user in the Portal (UME?) and assign the correct Portal role ?
(obviously configuration needed)
For MSS and HR Power users - we would continue to assign SAP roles via SU01.
Can anyone assist with;
- Is my thinking correct in terms of how this should / could work?
- in SAP how can I map SAP Roles to Portal Roles ?
- will syncronization in SAP create the user in Portal and assign the role ? what do I need to configure?

I just dont know if this can throw some light on your prob.'
In our Orgn we had around 250 ess users and 200 sapr/3 users. Some of the r/3 users also logon to ess via their r/3 uname and password.
What we have done is like follows:
1. Created a role for only the ess users ZHRESS. For this i asked the HR functional people with sap_all profile to do all the job which the ESS users are supposed to do and tracer the authorization via tcode st01. We created the role on the basis of this trace report.
2. For the purely ESS users we created the users via tcode HRUSER and assigned then with the above role.
3. For the R/3 users who are supposed to avail the ess facility we assigned them with the role ZHRESS role in addition to the other roles assigned to them to carry out their normal R/3 transactions. Then we mapped their R/3 uname to their employee no via PA30 infotype 105.
4. Tcode HRUSER saved time which would have consumed had we done it via su01 and moreover it picked Name etc data from the HR master table. In HRUSER tcode , setting the user attributes helps to define what roles the users are to be assigned, what should be their initial password etc.

I would like to know , is there way that we can get a report which shows all the portal user ids with there assign portal roles. If we can't get this from portal. Can we get it from Oracle database ?
What are the oracle tables and fields which store this information?
If nay one have a custom develop iview for this please let me know

Hi Ramesh,
as Pascal stated (and as I did above), if developing within the portal is not really new for you, playing around with the UME API is really more or less trivial.
Check Portal User and Role info as well as User to Role listing for similar requests and code hints / further links.

You can use " portal Activity Report" for this purpose.
alternatively, if you have access to server you can check this through visual admin
simply open visual admin,open on your servernode --services,click on Performance Tracing,click on JARM and choose what you want to see.
its easy to use standard portal Activity Report.
else you can use third party reports loke "google analytics" which will give the number of users logged in, what the navigation of each user, from which geographical area the user has logged in and all about the user logged into the portal and portal performance.
you need to login with your gmail id and password and download the code and use it in you portal application... its very easy to use.

Allright guys. I appreciate the quick responses. I've worked a lot in CR however i am not understanding the solution so I'd appreciate if you can dumb it down for me. If i understand it correctly you guys are suggesting to make a formula, that either return my group by string (which is a formula in my report) or the Quantity. I tried writing a formula like this

but it seems like CR does not allow you to return 2 different data types. Even if it had worked i would not know what to do from there. Can anyone please dumb it down for me. To make my situation more clear below is an example of how my data is..

when the data shows in the report, its grouped by state, so it comes out like
MN 350
CA 800
I want the users to decide whether they want it sorted by state (ascending)
CA 800
MN 350
or Total quantity (asc)

CA 800

Accessing Portal User profile info from report

Once the user logs into portal, I would like to access some of the user profile information (personal or organizational details). I need to find the stored value of the employee number, e_mail and department. This is needed to restrict the information that will be returned to the user in portal reports.
ie. Access the portal users department and only show them information fo that specific department. If I can access I can store the value in a session variable or cookie.

Just have a look at <portal_schema>.wwsec_person$
There is also an API <portal_schema>.wwctx_api.get_user to get the user currently logged in.

Can Power Users or Mgt Create and Design Reports Through Query Designer ?

Dear BI consultants,
Iam new to BI.
My management has requested me to Train Power users from All Modules(FICO,HR,QM,PP,SD,MM) to Create Queries and Design Through Query Designer.
My question is are we suppose to Give query Designer Access to Power users or Mgt so that they can create Queries and reports by themselves.Please Suggest me wht is the Best Practices.
is it feasable to train power users and Mgt as to how 2 create queries. will there be any side effect on the System or our end.
Plz suggest.
wht are the advantages and disadvantages of this.
If I train the Power users then is there any risk of my Job.
since they will be creating all reports by themselves.
wht else can a BI consultant do since iam in a support project.
how do i convince my Mgt?

This is common procedure maintained in most of the company's for end users.
There is no issue if you train the power users.you will be the first point of contact if they have any doubts.and more over you are supporting for your client right? this can't be handed over to power user or end user. data is imp for the client so there will not be any problem for you, if any issue comes while loading you need to take care of the errors and fix the.
power users or end user will be familiar with Business requirement not with the Query building logic's not with the BW procedure so no worries for you.
as vineeth said its better to keep control regarding the global and key things at your end so that you will not loose contol on the reports.
