Is there a CAPS LOCK on the BB 8220?

I don't see it on the quick tips.I see how to do the NUMBERS lock, but not a CAPS lock. Am I missing something? Or is this just something I have to do manually any time I want to lock the caps?

There is no CAPS lock, but you can hold down the shift button while you type.

    Hello mdgm,
First ensure that Caps Lock is enabled by going to *Settings > General > Keyboard > Enable Caps Lock*.
When this feature is enabled, you can then use Caps Lock by double-tapping the Shift key on the keyboard.

  • How do I enable Caps Lock on the iPad?

On the iPhones you can double click the shift key to write in capital letters. Is there something similar on the iPad? The only way I can find is to hold down the shift key whilst typing which is a bit of a pain..... Is there another way?
    Thanks

It works just fine for me. After you have enabled the caps lock in the settings all you need to do is double tap one of the caps lock keys on the keyboard. Both keys should then turn dark blue and remain that way until you tap one of them again allowing you to continuously type in all capitals,

  • Quick hint: Caps lock on the keyboard

    In case anyone is wondering.
You can activate caps lock on the PlayBook keyboard by pressing the SHIFT key and the swiping your finger towards the bezel.
The keys will stay as uppercase until you press SHIFT again or open the symbols keyboard.

  • How can I fix the UI of the caps-lock on the iOS keyboard NOT to be inverted?

Is there a setting to make the caps lock the colors a user would expect it to be? The current default is backwards and VERY frustration and confusing. If the keyboard is all white the caps-lock should be white when not activated. (Realistically though it seems like a really terrible UI problem that was overlooked during QA...)
To all users I typed "using iPhone" into that annouing text box below that will tell you "you cannot post content..." to everything you type in for the first 50 tries. That's the secret code I guess.

Hmm. Ok, that will temporarily fix it for me. My complaint is more global scope however. Specifically why would they do this? This is Apple making very odd, undeniably backwards and confusing UI decisions. As a developer I'm baffled that they didn't notice or deliberately did this. I have to stop and think at every capital letter I type when I'm on my phone these days. So maybe I'll try a more UI oriented keyboard color in the meantime until Apple tries to type on their keyboard and notice they keep switching the lowercase and capital letters.

Try an SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.

  • Caps Lock in BB pearl 8220

Hello, I want to write a hole text  with the caps lock activated but I don't want to hold all the time the caps button, I know there is a way cause it indeed was locked in my bb but i didn't know how did it happened, does someone can help me please!

I just found the real fix by reading post linked below.  Open Blackberry Desk Manager while your 8220 is connected to your PC.  Open Application Loader.  Install Blackberry Attachment Service.  As soon as it completed installation my external display was back to the clock.  My T-Mobile SIM is currently out of the house and the phone is locked so I can't try Caller-ID or other alerts until tonight but if the clock is back I believe everything else is too.
Thanks to zwood for posting the fix below.

  • I just installed RAM into my 2007 Mid iMac. I went to turn it on and the fan goes on and such. The screen isn't lighting up and (Caps lock) the keyboard isn't working. It's plugged in too.

Installed two 2GB RAM cards to my Mac. Plugged it in, turned it on. You can hear it running. My keyboard isn't lighting up (Caps Lock) and the screen is black.

Assuming the RAM is to the exact spec required, try re-seating the RAM. When you think it is fully seated give it an extra shove with both thumbs - it only needs to be a fraction out for it not to work. If that fails to solve the problem, put the old RAM back in and test. If it works that narrows it down to the new RAM being the problem.

  • I got a external Apple Wired Keyboard (w/ NumPad), caps lock mapped to control doesn't work with tab + caps lock + shift

I got a external Apple Wired Keyboard (w/ NumPad) since I'm a developer. I have used control panel > keyboard > modifier keys to make the caps lock key the control key. I can't get it to work when I press caps lock (which maps to control) +shift + tab (which I use to change tabs backwards).
Any ideas? It works when I use the regular control key, and it works on my built-in MBPro keyboard. Thx!

Hi Steve, Welcome to apple discussions.
Hmm, that is a strange problem. Well, you've already done what I would suggest which is to go to the keyboard settings and click the "Restore defaults" button in the modifier keys window and try again. If that doesn't work then you can restart the computer and check. If that doesn't work you can try to reset the pram. Hold the optioncommand+PR buttons after you hear the startup chime, it should chime again, I let it chime a third time just for good measure and see if things look better.
If that fails then you can try making another account and seeing if the caps lock works in the new account. There might be some strange error on your account that would be corrected for in a new account. After that it gets more labor intensive. Do a system re-install, do an erase and install.
You might consider a trip to the apple genius bar there in Honolulu if can. The should be able to run through all that for you. You're still under warrantee so take advantage and get some help.
Oh, and just a disclaimer that I learned from Adam on the maccast podcast. Make a full, complete backup including a time machine and bootable (like superduper or carbon copy cloner) disk before you do any of the above or take the unit it for service.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mapping Hiragana to Caps Lock in Kotoeri

Just picked up a new laptop today, my first time using Snow Leopard. I'm trying to configure Kotoeri so that the caps lock switches the input to hiragana, but the only options are katakana and romaji.
Hiragana mode was available in previous OS X versions, I can't believe it would be removed while keeping katakana, if anything it should be the other way around. Also, holding the shift key while the caps lock is on doesn't seem to switch modes like it used to either.
Is there some way to enable this or will I have to always use the key combos to switch modes from now on?

Can you make sense of this? I certainly can't.

  • Changing Caps Lock Behavior

Is there a way to change the behavior of the Caps Lock key so that the combination of Caps Lock and the Shift key produces lower case? I've just migrated from the Windows world and a number of my passwords are "reversed case" (harder to steal) - on my MacBook Pro, those passwords are a hassle - If there was a workaround, I'd not need to change them all.

I suspected that Apple would "fix" the traditional behavior of keyboards so that the caps lock key did exactly what it was supposed to do !

I purchased an IPAD2 for my special needs daughter.  She only currently understands lowercase letters only and gets confused with the uppercase letters.  Is there a way to change the keyboard to display lowercase letters?

There is no way for the keyboard itself to display only lower case letters. It doesn't display lower case letters at all for that matter.
When you are using the keyboard - The other issue that you will have is with the shift key. Even with auto caps turned off you can still type capital letters if you tap the shift key and if you double tap it by mistake - it will turn into all capital letters so also turn off Caps Lock in the keyboard settings.
Other than that, there is no way to ensure that you can type in lower case.
Maybe an external bluetooth keyboard would be a better solution but I don't use one, and I have never even seen one in person so someone else will have to verify that for you.
