Is there a clear walkthrough on setting up address book server on Lion Server?

I just got a Mac Mini Server with OSX Lion Server on it, and I want to set up address book server and calendar server, but I can't find any instructions on setting it up.

Maybe someone in the Lion Server forum would know?

  • Setting up Address book Server

How do I set up an Address book server.
Do I have to go about setting up full blow network accounts.
I would just like to share contact information between a large group of coworkers. maintaining one company directory instead of individual directories on each users machine.
    Thanks for the help

I'd probably use LDAP (Open Directory), but you can choose to use use either LDAP or a shared Address Book Server, or you can use both in parallel. Here's a write-up: [Address Book Tips: Shared Contacts, LDAP Connections|http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1600]

only way is to restore the phone as new.  OR wait until IOS 7 comes out in the fall.

  • Can i set up address book from existing list ?

i want to set up address book from existing list
in addition to address i want to include phone #, email

Can you provide more information? Are you trying to gather data via a form to built an address book? You can make a form and ask for people phone number, email, address... I'm not sure what is your 'existing list'. Is it in an excel document? You would have to merge the data collected via the form manually to you existing list.

  • I use an i-pad and my primary account email is aol.  Is there a way to import my aol address book onto my ipad "contacts?"

I am using an ipad and the primary account email is aol.  Is there a way to import my aol address book onto my ipad "contacts" app?

Oops, I found the answer to my question. Great knowledge base! I had originally imported via the automatic popup dialog box that appeared when I installed TB, and didn't absorb at the time that there would be a way to do an import later, after TB install, too, and even for specific parts of OE (address book vs. mail messages, etc.).
I pasted the link to the "Migrate to Thunderbird" page that includes how to migrate just an Address Book from OE, but the following is all that pastes in: 9723729938
I have typed out the link here:

Right click the contact and choose delete. To do multiples at one time, click each while holding down the command key, then right click and delete.

  • How set up Address Book for efficient iPhone use?

Situation: I live in the U.S. Calls to Europe are made from my address book by tapping a number which is stored for example (Germany) as
    "+49" + telephonenumber.
When in Germany I would omit the country code and instead dial
    0 + telephonenumber.
Do I have to set up a second telephone entry in the second form above to avoid having to manually dial the number while in country? Surely there is something more efficient and automatic than either of these alternatives.

Calls do not go from Germany to the US and then back to Germany. If you are in Germany on a US SIM the call will stay in Germany. What happens is the German network will charge your US for a roaming call. This should be a lot less than calling a number in the US from your US SIM phone while in Germany.
The only time it would go to the US is when someone calls you on your US number. Since the person is calling the US they will be charged an international call. You will then be charged for the call from the US to Germany.

  • I lost my address book when I installed Mountain Lion and have not been able to recover it.  WHen I type in a name in an email the address shows up, so I know it is in there.  How can I restore my address book?

I don't know how to do this.  I typed the question in the bar above, but apparently need to type it again here.  I lost my entire address book when I installed Mountain Lion and have been unable to recover it.  I know the information is in there as when I type in someone's name in an email the address always shows up right away.  How can I find the information for my contacts and restore my address book? Do I need to go to the Apple Store that is 2 hours away and have an expert help me or can I find out how to do it online for free myself?

The auto-complete in Mail addresses comes from two sources: (1) The "Previous Recipients" list, which can be viewed via Mail > Window > Previous Recipients. (2) Your Address Book (now called "Contacts").
If you did in fact lose your Address Book - are you sure you don't have "Contacts" in your Applications Folder? - It sounds like you are getting addresses from source (1).  If you did in fact lose your  Address Book (now called "Contacts" !!), you will have to restore it from a backup.

  • Is there a Way to create 2 separate address books?

Perhaps this is an easy question but I am relatively new to Macs. I was wondering if there is a way to create 2 separate address books under the same user profile? I have a palm device and a cell phone and i would like to create a separate book just for isyncing with the cell phone since my phone only holds 500 contacts and the palm holds more. I don't need every palm number on the cell. The only way I can see is to create a separate user profile on the iMac. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

You don't have to include every contact in Address Book in the sync - you can choose to sync just a group. So make two groups, one for the palm and one for the mobile phone. A contact can belong to multiple groups. I THINK (you will have to check yourself) you can have different settings in iSync for the different devices, so just associate each group with the appropriate device.
One thing to watch out for - if the synchronising process finds a new contact on one of the remote devices, it will make new contact for it in AB, but it won't add it to the group, so you'll have to do that manually.

  • Is there a way to use Apple Mail/Address Book/Calendar with a Microsoft Exchange Server that requires a client certificate ?

I have an Exchange server configured to require a client certificate. Is there a way to configure a certificate for Apple Mail/Address Book/Calendar ? There seems to be no option in the account settings to do that (in contrast to for example the IMAP settings).
    Any help highly appreciated !

I don't know. Try downloading the certificate and installing it in your keychain. See what happens.

  • How to Set Uniform Address Book Contacts

you know what i would love to do? make all the numbers in addressbook.app uniform formatting, like every number +15551212, instead of all mixed; some (555)1212; some 15551212, etc. i can’t write scripts, so is there a way i can do this?

In Address Book Preferences, select the Phone tab. There, choose one of the Formats in the pull-down menu, or create your own by choosing Custom... from the same pull-down menu.

  • Is there a definitive guide for setting up a web server folder to properly host an Adobe Shared Review?

In an effort to replace Acrobat.com as the host of a shared review file, I have found myself going in circles. I have prepared a folder on our web server, yet I cannot get Acrobat to connect during the send for shared review process. I get the "A network connection could not be created" status message.
I have found many responses to questions about the change telling me that using a web server folder is an option, but no guide for the requirements of its configuration. Can anyone help? What kinds of permissions, protocols, details must I verify to make sure a web server folder will work?
    Adobe?

I was under the impression that any webdav would do.

  • I am gettin an error message when trying to open a contact: "There was a temporary problem accessing your address book. Please try again in 10 minutes."

I am using an Yahoo Email and I can open a list of contacts but getting an error message when trying to open any of them. My OS is Windows Vista Service Pack 2 installed on a desktop.

Does this issue occur on another browser? If this issue does occur on another browser then I would like to say that it is a Yahoo issue and not a Firefox issue.
