Is there a command to "Show in Finder" when looking an Adobe Acrobat file?
I have a lot of file with almost exactly the same names, and it gets very tedious to have to open Finder and search for it.

Ah yes, your aim must be exact! Incidently, as long as we're there in the title bar, there is another little secret up there: the wee little "proxy" icon in front of the name. You can actually do things with it. For instance, you can click and hold (pause for a half of second until it turns gray), now drag it to the Desktop, and you'll get an alias to the file. If you press the Option key while you drag you'll get a new copy of the file. Wait, there's more! Say you have a Safari window open, to this page perhaps, and you want to save the Safari page to the same folder as the file you have open in Preview. Bring up the Safari save dialog sheet, grab the proxy icon on the open file, drag 'n drop it into the Safari Save navigation section, and presto, the folder the file is in will be the one displayed in the Safari save pane. You can do this with the proxy icons anywhere, including those in a Finder window. So if you have a folder open, you can drag its proxy icon into the save or open navigation section of a program, and there you are. Saves you time navigating to something you already have open in one place (the Finder) from your program. I use it all the time.

I don't know if your on a Mac or a PC.
So you need to locate the Font cache file for Acrobat (make sure Acrobat is quit) and remove to Trash/Wastebasket.
and empty. The open Acrobat back up and the font cache file should rebuild. If your on a Mac the simpliest way is use a Utility called fontnuke and have it remove all Font caches.
Font cahces frequently corrupt as they are in constant use. Mayb Windows machines have something similar as Font Nuke.

How get other computer to show in finder when file sharing checked?

I'm sharing files between my imac and my macbook air. I click on File Sharing in System Preferences on both computers. Sometimes the finder window shows the other computer and I can share. But other times there seems to be no way of clicking, of turning on and off, that will result in the other computer coming up on the Finders. Suggestions?

When you turn on file sharing you need to share specific folders that you can access through finder, when you have shared these folders they will be located under the shared section of the finder sidebar.
Also, if you're sharing the whole computer goto Finder > Preferences > Sidebar and make sure Bonjour Computers are ticked under shared.

Psexec shows Access denied when i execute a .exe file on a remote machine

Hi All,
I am using Psexec application to run exe on multiple remote machines in the domain. When i run the the .EXE i get the error message saying access is denied.
I am running this script against agents in a list.
Below is the script i am running in the batch:
"C:\Windows\system32\PsExec.exe" @C:\Test.txt cmd
1. I am first connecting to the cmd of the remote computer and it connects successfully.
2. When i enter the .exe file location on the command prompt (which is also in a shared drive but in the same domain).
3. I ran the batch file as Run as administrator
4. I am itself a member of the Domain admins and Administrators group of the domain.
5. Turned off firewall on both sides.
6. Turned off UAC fully as per the below MS article - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(v=ws.10).aspx
7. Pressed shift and right click so i will get the Run as option and mentioned different domain admins user account and password.

Restated both the machines after doing these changes. But still the same issue.
But still i get access is denied. Can anyone please help.

Few days back when i used to run the same task in this Access is denied mode its self. My destination server used to give a Audit failure event log as below.
Now a days this event log does not come.

Files do not always show in finder when accessing server

When I access our server(PC) files do not always show up in the finder. Sometimes it shows and sometimes it does not. I have to go back and start over. I recently updated to Snow when this problem started happening. Example. If i'm in illustrator and want to open a file on the server I will go to server than to the folder on the server. once the folder is open there is not any files showing. If I go back and start over they will be there. Sometimes I have to do this several time to show files. There are multiple type of files in the folders and none of them show. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you are viewing the tracks on the hard disc, did you then click on "Import CD"? This is needed to initiate the importing process that will add the tracks to your library.

Seagate ext disk doesn´t show in finder when booting

Hi there.
Odd little problem here.
My Seagate ext disk doesn´t show when I start my iMac. When my iMac is up, the disk has started, but is not yet discovered. I just unplug and reconnect the FW cable, and it shows up right away. Seems like it just dont pick it up in the starting sequence.
Any ideas?

I'm guessing it's something to do with the firewire protocol, I'm not sure if there actually a fix for this.
It could be possible to make an Automator action that would 'search for firewire devices' to run at user login?

As mentioned...the only way to do it would be to turn off iMessage. Otherwise, it isn't a SMS text that VZW can charge you for (or deduct from your texting plan) so it will not show on your bill. If you're wanting to do this in order to monitor someone else's iMessage usage I don't think there is a way to do so...iMessage isn't an option in the restrictions menu so I don't think you could even get your hands on the other device and put the restriction on it if you wanted to shut off the iMessage capability so they could only send text messages (if they had the code to change restrictions then that wouldn't work anyway because they could go back and change it). No idea if there is or ever will be a iMessage tracking app but that may be your only hope...

That's a pretty basic form built using an older version of Acrobat (not sure what you are using. This is the Reader forum by the way).

PDF File in Preview doesn't show text fields, but OK in Adobe Acrobat

Someone emailed me a pdf document which I opened in Preview. All the the text fields where there was supposed to be data were blank.
I then opened in Acrobat and everything was there. Saved a copy from Acrobat and opened in Preview and the text was finally visible.
Anyone have a clue why this would be happening?

Well, sadly, those technicians may have misdirected you. This site is a user-to-user community of volunteers...it is not a channel for any formal communications with, support from, nor escalation to RIM. RIM provides zero front-line support to any end-users...such is actually contractually prohibited.
The technicians, if they are authorized BB support folks, have channels for escalating things to RIM that need to be so. I recommend you go back to them and have them do so.

Show in Finder Option Missing from Search

I can't figure out how to find the "Show in Finder" option after searching for a file. Is there some new secret finger gymnastics option to get this to show up? It used to be all I had to do is right-click.

I found "Show all in Finder" after scrolling down like you said. Unfortunately, that does not show those search results in the finder, it runs a new search and shows thousands of results that I have no interest in. What I want is the "Top Hit" usually, but it becomes a needle in a haystack after clicking "Show all in Finder". With trial and error I found that if I hold down the Command key, the tail end of the file path is shown in the preview window, but not enough to find the file and it is not clickable.
Another thing I found is that if you click on the Kind section heading, it will run a search showing all documents of that kind -- also useless since there are thousands. Unfortunately clicking on "Top Hit" does nothing. Is it possible there is another secret way to get the functionality I want that used to be there?

Alternatively if you find that the default shortcut (as previously mentioned) conflicts with third party applications (ie. Adobe Photoshop/Quark Xpress), or you just want a different shortcut, then you can assign another one by:
1. Open System Preferences
2. Select the 'Keyboard & Mouse' preference
3. Select the 'Keyboard Shortcuts' pane
4. Scroll down to the 'Automatically hide and show the Dock' setting
5. Click on the default shortcut, Cmd-alt-D, and enter your desired shortcut by pressing the relevant keys.
