Is there a compatibility problem with OS 10.3.9 and some 1TB external HDs?

Hi,
I just got a Toshiba external 1 TB HD. It wouldn't mount on my G5 PowerMac running 10.3.9 ( I get the error message to ignore or initialize, but Disk Utility can't mount won't mount it to do so.) So I tried it on my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. It showed up there and I initialized it and partitioned it using Disk Utility. I am hoping to use it to run Time Machine on my laptop and manually back up files on the partitioned volume for the tower but it still won't mount.
Is there a problem with the size of the HD and either the PowerMac or its OS? Is the partition a problem?

thanks for helping me with this.
I do not need to boot from the 1TB drive, only for storage. When I try to initialize/partition it using disk utility (10.3.9) it hangs up making the partition map. Also, it only recognizes 931GB of the disc. When I first initialized it using 10.6.8 it showed much closer to 1TB.
Not sure how to initialize or partition when disc utility gets hung up while doing so.

Since Yahoo is web based email, the compatbility issue is on the Yahoo side, not Apple.
You can access your Yahoo account without having to use Safari.
Open the Mac Mail app. From the menu bar click Mail > Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click + to add your Yahoo account.

I solved it myself, after the "note" which came back from FF/Mozilla just as I finished my message, commenting on what it was that my system had , I wnnt back to check my plug-ins etc. I downloaded the latest Java, BOTH 32bit AND 64 bit versions and latest Firefox.
Now all is working.

nomenclature aside for a moment, 10.6.8 is correct but maybe more is necessary about the MacBook Pro: it is 'old': Identifier: 1.2, Intel Core Duo, 2.16 GHz, 1 Processor, L2 2 MB, RAM 2 GB.
i hope that is enough to get an answer to this: is it unadvisable to update its OS; in other words, if i update to 10.9, will the machine be able to handle it, 'speedwise'?

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

Is their a compatibility problem with iMovie 5.0.2 and QT 7.1.3?

Since purchasing my G5 over a year ago, I have not been able to use iMovie. The video corrupted when I upgraded the QT just as I was finishing a 2-hr travel video. Tech support was unable to help me so I just gave up. It's now nine months later and I really want to solve this problem. Video turns jerky when I add audio. Some of the discussions about jerky video in 2006 imply a compatibility issue. Is there a compatibility issue? I need to start someplace. Thanks for your help.

Here's the follow up:
I took a chance and installed MAC OS X 10.4.9 COMBO and QT 7.1.6 update, installed FCS 2 suite and my old TRV 340 still works perfectly.
I erased livetype included with FCE HD as suggested by apple tech note, and the installing process worked like a charm.
I keep my version of FCE HD 3.5.1 and original soundtrack . Both applications work well side by side with FCP 6.

I'm running FF 3.6.17 and when I try to log into my Blackboard page, I get an error message, "no user is currently logged in." I have noticed that some have had compatibility problems with earlier versions of FF and Blackboard, but what gives?

This recently upgraded version of Blackboard is also giving me problems with IE, and even Google Chrome. Regardless of which Windows OS I try. On these others, however, I can log in, I just can't edit.
Blackboard tech support has been blundering with this issue for two and half weeks now. But to no avail. So, I'm wondering if going back to an earlier version of FF would help.

Compatibility problem with USMT 6.3.9600 and Windows Vista

Hi,
We have a problem with USMT 6.3.9600 ()ADK 8.1) while running on Vista. At start we are receiving an error saying it is not a win32 application. USMT 6.2.9200 would work on Vista but not on Windows 8.1.
Any workaround?

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

The only issue is that the "old" Airport Utility (5.6/5.6.1) doesn't work with Maverics and you have to use the 6.3.2 version.
Having said that I use it with 6 AP (mixture of AX's and XE 2s) just fine with over 20 devices hanging off them and all Mac on Maverics.
It may depend on which Airports you have, if they are supported by the new Utility you should be fine, as ever YMMV!

Is the error message I am seeing about every 5 minutes now but hadn't seen ever until about 2 weeks ago. What is wrong with Apple Mail and how can I sort this out? Rebuilding does nothing apart from waste my time.

rebuild the entire mail index. quit mail and delete the file home directory/library/mail/envelope index. then start mail and say yes when it asks to import your messages. see if it works ok after that.
