Is there a connection b/t the 3.0 launch and slow syncing with iTunes??

Not sure if since the launch of 3.0 that there is a relation between slow syncs and traffic on Apple's servers? I know that I'm syncing with my own computer when I do a manual sync, but just curious.
Otherwise, is anyone else having problems with painfully slow syncs after 3.0 has been installed?

I am experiencing this as well, and I am currently in the process of un-synchronizing my apps then adding them back in a few at a time. However, I also think my slower-than-usual sync might be as a result of the new option in iTunes to, "Encrypt iPhone Backup," which I selected right after I updated the software.
The reason I think it's the backup encryption is because after I updated to 3.0, the phone rebooted, etc., I was perusing the new options in iTunes, and I saw the option to encrypt. I checked the box, created a password at the prompt, and it started backing up the iPhone again.
This time, it was sloooooow! It barely showed a hint of shading in the status bar after a minute, and I decided to cancel the sync. But I never unchecked the "Encrypt iPhone Backup" option (I forgot to). So perhaps if any of you have that option selected, it could also be the culprit or at least part of the problem.
Though I'm no fan of Windoze, take heart, PC users: I'm on a MacBook Pro, and this is happening to me, too.

I inadvertantly dropped my iphone 3 and now have a white screen with green vertical lines to the right of the screen.  It won't sync with itunes due to an error. What can I do?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If it does not resolve the issue, the device is permanently damaged and will require replacement.

  • HT1386 When an iPhone is plugged into the wall outlet and is synced with iTunes, does the phone need to be ejected on iTunes like it would be if connected to the computer, or is it just fine to disconnect from the wall?

I am wondering if I need to eject my iPhone from iTunes or if it is fine to unplug the phone without ejecting.

If it's connected to your computer and synced with iTunes you should eject it.  If it's only plugged into a wall outlet and not your computer, just unplug it (since there's nothing to eject it from).

  • How to restore the information for disabled iPhone 4 because battery discharged fully and no sync with iTune.

    Hi;
I need to restore the information from disabled iPhone 4 because it went out of battery. I do know the passcode, but the phone is not showing the numbers to dial it. What is important for me is the data and not the phone. Below is the details of the phone:
    1. Phone info:
    iPhone 4
    iOS version: not sure
    Passcode: Known to me
    2. Objective: To restore the data from the phone (Contacts, messages, files, ...etc)
    3. Current Status:
    i. Phone screen Content:
    "iPhone is disabled"
    "connect to iTune",
      received sms,
      "slide for emergency"
      *******no passcode keyboard or dials!********
    ii. Connect to iTunes status
    -    receive this message:" iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "xxxxxx's iPhone" because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".
**********Passcode is known but no mean to enter it from iTune or from iPhone! *********
no appearance of iPhone in the sidebar
    4. Reason for the issue:
i.I left the phone without SIM in a safe for a while. it has daily alarm. it seams that the battery drained completely and when I charged I got this status.
ii. I normally don't connect (sync) my mobile to computer. I may have couple of sync but they are outdated in one hand and in the other hand I really need the information after I took them. Further, the machine is formatted where I kept the sync. So practically they are not existing.

It's not possible to selectively restore parts of the backup - it's all or none.  If you had been syncing your contacts, calendar and notes to iCloud or an app on your computer, just sync them back - it's automatic with iCloud if you set this in settings.
Your in-app history and data was contained in the backup you aren't using.  There's no way to retrieve them without restoring the entire backup.  For all you know, the problem causing the overheating was corrupted app data that you don't want back in the phone.

  • Why does a blank On-The-Go playlist appear when I sync with iTunes?

Whenever I create an On-The-Go playlist on my iPod classic, a blank one appears when I sync with iTunes. If I have 2 On-The-Go playlists created, one blank one appears when I sync with iTunes.

Sorry.  I'm looking now and I'm seeing it in my library.  I just thought it wasn't there since it was downloaded on my phone.  But what you said worked about deleting it from my library.  Thank you so much!

  • Both my iPods and my iPad are freezing up at the same spot why trying to sync with iTunes. What's going on?

Several times and with several different iPods I've been trying to sync with iTunes and it gets to 653 of 661 and freezes up. Nothing will work I have to power down and reboot. Even if I do a smaller selection with just a few songs it is freezing up a few songs away from finishing. I've updated and run diagnostics, now both my iPods are empty and I can't figure out what to do next. Can anyone help me out here?

    Try this,
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • How do I get all the content on my IPod to sync with itunes after I reinstalled itunes after computer crashed, folders and songs no longer match?

My computer crashed back in Feb or March of this year and I just recently reinstalled itunes on it.  Once reinstalled itunes updated software.  Once this was all done I noticed that alot of songs on my IPod were no longer in itunes.  Also, the folders in itunes no longer matched what are on my IPod.  itunes says the computer is active for itunes and many songs on my IPod are on itunes but many are missing.  How do I get itunes to just sync and match what is on my IPod to include all songs and folders.  Many of the missing songs on my IPod and not in itunes are ones I purchased from itunes so they should have them.  I am getting very discouraged with itunes.  I tried to do a support call and pay the fee to have them call to address but I am stationed oversees and they would not accept my overseas number as valid.
Any help is greatly appreciated.  As stated, I just want the music now on itunes to match with my IPod to include folders.  Seems music got lost.  Any suggestions how to back up the music so if this happens again I do not have this issue.  I figured itunes would have my music or at a min just sync up what is on my IPod.
    Thanks gunner

Probably a bit late to help in this thread, but the question is asked & answered frequently.
    *Recover media from iPod*
See this post from Zevoneer for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.

Some of the tools linked to will only work if the iPod has a valid library. Others can scan the drive independently and some may even be able to rebuild a damaged library. The manual method towards the end should be able to recover your media regardless of the state of the library.

  • I have an iPod touch and iPhone synced with iTunes, however when I connect my iPhone it always downloads the apps from the iPod to the iPhone which I don't want to happen. This is a recent thing and I need to know how to stop this.

Can anyone help with the problem above?

With your phone connected, under the Apps tab, remove the check in the box labeled "Automatically Sync New Apps".

  • HT1692 Can I clear my contacts off y iphone, and then sync with iTunes and return them back to y iphone, my IPHONE keeps retaining nos that it shouldn't, I delete them off, during edit, and they just return and added to the new contact along with the new

I Really would like some help, this problem has been with me for a couple of months,
i seem to be having problems with my contacts.
WHen I edit a contact, and pop in a new contact number, and delete the old number. It looks like it has been done.  when I go to write a message or go back into the contact, it has the old number there again, I have deleted off the computer contacts as everything is under I cloud anyway. It seems fine on my iMac, but still retains the old nos, and other info, mainly on my IPHONE.  Would it be useful to take all contacts off my phone, and reinstall them from my iTunes, or back up of whatever..  I am a nana, so please. Be gentle with me..
    Regards

On the iPhone, Settings > iCloud, contacts Off then back on.

  • I was trying to update my ipod touch but the update failed now it wont sync with itunes and its stuck on the Apple logo with a empty loading bar under it can anyone please help i dont know what to do

    Someone please help

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipad is disabled connect to itunes but i connected it and there was a popup saying itunes cannot connect to ipad because it is locked with a passcode. You mus enter the passcode on the ipad before it can be used with itunes. but i couldnt enter my passwor

my ipad is disabled and it said ipad is disabled connect to itunes but i connected it and was restoreing it and then there was a popup and it said itunes cannot connect to ipad because it is locked with a passcode. and you must enter the passcode on the ipad before it can be used with itunes. But i couldnt even write the passcode on my ipad cause it was disabled. What should i do now????

Follow the instructions on this page to reset your iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
