  • How do I hide time stamp in iCAL month view for Mavericks 10.9?

I want to hide the time in Month View like I could before in 10.8.  Please help!  Calendar is too cluttered in month view for me to read.  In 10.8 you could select or deselect "Show time in month view".  Is there a way to do this in Maveriks 10.9?

I have this same question! I DON'T WANT THE EVENT TIME TO SHOW ! I often just put my events anywhere on my calendar and have them take up 3 or 4 hours just so they show up larger, disregarding the times on the calendar, but rather typing my own times in at the beginning.  So, having the actual calendar event time show  is very confusing. Before the update, you could UNCHECK, show event times.  NoW that option does not exist!!  There must be a way to go into the system, and disable this function, however I am not computer literate enough to know how to do it without specific instructions.  DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS??? Thanks in advance!!

  • Can I show a color bar instead of a color bullet in iCal Monthly view for all my events in all calendars?

In the Monthly view of iCal the only events that show a color bar in the event is the Birthday Calendar. All other events in all my other calendars only show a color bullet next to the event (unless I click on that event which then shows as a color bar). I would like to know if it is possible for all the calendar events to have a color bar in the monthly view instead of just that tiny color bullet.

    Greetings Judith,
Before making any attempts at deleting calendar data, backup what you have just in case:
Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
iCal has an automated function located in iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed.  By typing in a value for days you can tell iCal to delete all events before that time frame.
    Example:
    Today is 4-16-2012.
If I wanted to delete all events prior to 1 year ago (4-16-2011) I would type in "365" for the number of days.
Once you type in the number of days you want kept in iCal, close the preferences and then quit iCal.
Re-open iCal and check to see if the events are gone.  If not you may want to leave it open for several minutes and then quit again.
Once the events are removed go back to  iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed and make sure the check mark is removed to prevent future deletion.
    Hope that helps.

  • Get time to show in month view of iCal

How do I get the time to show in the month view of iCal?

So sorry to not have a solution but I wanted to chime in and say "me, too!". Not only create an event, but I can't edit it in month view, either. I thought it was my entire iCal program, since I just upgraded to Lion today, but after reading your post I realize I can edit events in week mode, just not month mode.

  • ICal scroll month view

iCal doesn't seem to offer the ability to scroll while in Month view, similar to Outlook. This is a nice feature since you can just use the scroll wheel and roll into the next month. Does anyone know of a setting or plugin to do this?

Thanks - that's a good shortcut, but I was hoping for more of a vertical scroll. In Outlook you can scroll down into the next month by week, instead of just jumping entirely into the next month. Sort of helps visualize how far out things are.

  • Is there a way to get event times to show up in monthly view on iCal 7?  There no longer is a box in the preferences to show the times.

Prior to upgrading to Os X Maverick, I could see the times of all scheduled events on the month view (there was a check box in the iCal options to show the event times).  After upgrading, the times no longer show up and I don't see an option to change it.  Was this an oversight?  It certainly is not an upgrade over the previous version.  It was very helpful to be able to glance at the calender to see the scheduled times rather than having to click on each individual event.

Sorry.  Only after posting did I see that this question has been asked already and the answer given.  Please ignore this post.

  • Is there a recommended crystal reports viewer for Mavericks?

I am having some trouble finding a Crystal reports viewer for Mavericks and was wondering if someone might have some guidance as to the best solution(s).
    Thanks!

  • Mini Month View in iCal

Can't say I like the new iCal running on Lion. One feature that I can't seem to find is the mini month view. I did away with my paper calendar for viewing full months because of the mini month calendars on my Macs.
Is that functionality gone? I've searched preferences and menus and can't find a way to turn it on.
So many things about this new iCal that I find I do not like. I sure hope updates are coming to fix it.
    CJ

Last thing about iCal which I think could be fixed, is that it would be easier to type down events and making line-breaks if one whouldn't have to hold 'Alt' in while doing it.  I make line-breaks much more often than I finish editing an event (in which case you just press enter or click outside the event you were editing).  It would be better to press 'alt' + 'enter' in order to finish editing an event, and reserve the action of just pressing 'enter' for line-breaks.  This, btw, was also this way in iCal 4.
Ok, last last thing: in the preferences of iCal one can add a default alert to all new timed events and invitations and one can specify how many minutes before one wants to be alerted.  I do not want to add a default alert to all new events/appointments, but I would like to be able to specify the default number of minutes put on all new alerts that I put on events.  It seems quite intuitive to me that the default number of minutes one can specify for every alarm added to events by defult (if that option is checked in the preferences), should be the defult number of minutes set to alarms one manually puts on events, in stead of the '15 minutes before' default that is in the system and which seems to be unchangable.
If it says '0 minutes before the start time' there, then all alerts that I manually put on events should have this value put to zero by default!

  • Year View for iCal?!

    Hi,
I work a lot with projects of a few weeks length and I would really like to be able to see these in a year view in iCal. Does anybody now an addon or tool which can do that for me?
So far I just printed the year, several month per page, and saved it as pdf - which is not ideal!
I am grateful for any hint!
    Valentin

Okay, I found out, that holding alt and clicking the arrows in iCal avoids the animation. But that is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a way to use the normal keyboard shortcut cmd  + arrow keys for navigation, but without that time-consuming animation.
but currently it looks like there is no solution for this problem.
shame on you apple, for not giving me the option to disable the animation.
shame on you apple, for not providing cmd + alt + arrow keys for an alternative (navigate without animation).

  • Can't print a one page month view using ical 3.0.1

I can't seem to print a page view of a month using ical 3.0.1- the newest with Leopard. When you go to the print window, view only gives me day or list as a choice. There isn't a monthly option like in the support quides for ical 2.0. Has anyone had any luck printing a month on one page since upgrading to leopard?

I don't think you can do that in a direct way, although you could create a calendar, and move the event you want printed to that calendar, then go to print, select list and then only select that calendar and you will only print that event you wanted to print.
    hope this helps

  • I was able to print my month view from ical, but no longer is "month" an option. I can only see list and day. Please advise!

Just curious...about two weeks ago I was able to print my ical calendar in month view. For some reason, "month view" is no longer an option in print mode. The only two options I have are day or list. Not sure how to print in month view now or retreive that back. Please advise : )

Be sure Safari does not have the Block Pop-Up Windows preference set.
Where I work now there are several unencrypted VLANs that require authentication, and Safari promptly pops up a window for me to register every time.

  • Thumbnail view for ical?

i love the mimum window for itunes (it shows only what's playing and a couple buttons for control by clicking the green window control button in titlebar)... is there a way to shrink ical down to do the same kind of thing? it would be ideal to show either a day or a month view in a thumbnail window... i didn't find any info about this searching the ical discussion or the ical help...
    thanks-

I don't know whether iCal has any internal ability to perform the function you're looking for, but the Dashboard widget called iCal Events (http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/business/icalevents.html) seems to have the same type of functionality that feature would provide.

  • Drop down month calendar for iCal

One thing that annoys me when entering new iCal events is I have to always to type dd/mm/yyyy and can't use a dropdown calendar in Outlook?
Ofcourse moving the events by just dragging and dropping is cool, but still there are at times I feel a drop down is faster.
Is there a plugin or something to get a calendar popup?

    Ferd,
Yes this is fine. What I am looking for is, say I clicked for an appointment for this Wednesday (normally my cal will be in week setting) and when I enter the information, I decide I want to move this event to next Wednesday.
So I have a drop down calendar, I don't have to calculate what the day is for next wednesday or have to switch my week view momentarily to month view to drag it.
    Just to enhance user experience!!
