Is there a conversion process for CS2 to CS6?

I manage IT for a school, and one of my teachers has recently converted to CS6 from CS2.  She reports that some of her files from CS2 are not saving after opening in CS6.  Is there some sort of conversion or file update that needs to happen?

Saving as what? Where? On what system? Sorry, but this is totally useless. We do not even know what program "she" is referring to, much less anything else. Generally all files created in previous CS versions open just fine in current versions, so whatever happens is specific to "her" environment, not a generic issue.

  • Is there no User Guide for Premiere Pro CS6?

I am a FCP7 refugee trying to decide between Avid and PP CS6. After waiting for a few weeks for it to be available, I have been lookiig through the PP CS6 Help PDF. I was surprised to see that it is not a complete reference guide documenting the features of the application, but instead a mish-mash of short descriptions, with numerous links to videos, documents from earlier versions, and other external locations where one has to go to get the actual information--not very helpful as a guide to the application. Is there actually no comprehensive user guide from Adobe in a single document or PDF? Or is the only way to get information about the application to navigate through all these disjointed materials?
If there is such a user guide, I would very much like to know where I can find it. If there isn't, I would have to count this as a very big factor in favor of deciding to go with Avid. This is particularly true given the absence of any current third-party books on PPro CS6, although such books are hardly a substitute for a well written and comprehensive user guide, something which is also true of the help PDF.

Since the links are to the on-line CS6 help and the PDF version of that help, both of which are a collection of materials concerning CS5, CS5.5 and CS6...
Yes, for CS6, new information was added to the CS5/CS5.5 documentation. We had to go this route because we are working with brand new documentation software. There simply was not enough time to integrate the software and complete a whole new set of documentation. Believe me, it was enough of a challenge integrating the old system with the new one--in addition to creating the articles for new features, and the connective tissue between them.
There is only one person that does the docs for Premiere Pro, and that is me. I have limitations and guidelines I must follow, so I hope you understand.

...with links to external sources you have to go to for information, I guess the answer to my question is that there is no true user guide for Premiere Pro CS6 that one can go to for comprehensive information about the application...
No, this is the Help. It has BOTH the comprehensive details about the software and community content where you can see how people are actually using the software. If the Help is lacking details about any feature, please alert me and I will include those details. I work directly from the engineering documentation and include every detail I can about any feature.
Since my time is limited, I don't always have time to make supplemental materials like video tutorials, or articles. That's why I link to them. The crucial info is included in the docs, the community content is material that I personally approve as helpful and supportive to the documentation.
    Groppler wrote:
...without sorting through irrelevant information or navigating to all these third-party sites to see if they have information you are looking for.
None of the community content is irrelevant. I sort through it all very carefully. Community content is supportive and helpful to users. It should not be necessary to sort through these tutorials as the info should be right in the docs. Community content is supplemental. If you don't find the information you were looking for in the docs themselves, create a comment right on the Help page and I'll see to it that it gets fixed ASAP.

I am quite surprised by this and think the absence of a real user guide is a significant shortcoming of Premiere Pro, not shared by other products on the market.
It is a real user guide. I'm sorry you don't feel that way. If you want a doc with only Premiere Pro CS6 info in it, I can understand that request. Unfortunately, that was impossible for this round.
If you have any suggestions for the next round of Help documentation, a better place than here would be the Community Help forum. Please voice your concerns there, as the people that actually make decisions about Help are hanging out there.

  • 7.1 update process for CS2 users

Hi - I want to update the Acrobat 7.x Pro / Designer 7.0 combo on a PC which came with CS2.
Can I just run the 7.1 install and let it intelligently remove and install over existing Designer 7.0 ? I ask because - unlike standalone Acrobat install, CS2 does not seem to offer you a way of manually uninstalling Designer 7.0
By the way - unless I've missed something, the ReadMe on the 7.1 CD talks about everything except the 7.0 > 7.1 update procedure. Think this should always be explained, even if no problems foreseen.

"Anyways, moral of the story is I shouldn't open my big mouth about things I don't know for sure
    Chris
Adobe Enterprise Developer Support" - LOL - confirms my long-held opinion that Adobe staffers are generally honest and friendly people. Probably too honest ;o)
"It would be helpful if Adobe published a document that listed (e.g. in tabular form) the functionality that works/exists in various Designer + Acrobat combinations. " - definitely, but this is where Adobe always fall down. It is as if they just don't have the layer of people who should be around to do this kind of stuff.
Which reminds me - what exactly are QA people there for? Most QA people I know can't figure out how to use the elevator.
They need to employ at least one person per product whose sole job is just to see things from a customer's viewpoint (not form Adobe's!!!) - we would soon see improved documentation (especially on the Javascript side!) and more logical install routines.

  • Is there a conversion table for DLUs to CUCM 9.x licenses?

During the upgrade process from pre-9.0 releases to CUCM 9.0 and later, ELM is installed and lets you convert your licensing from the DLU model to the UCL/CUWL licensing model.  This worked fine for the upgrades that I have already done, but now I am trying to plan how to allocate unused DLUs to the other license classes for the dozen or so additional clusters that I need to migrate.  ELM does NOT appear to have an offline mode where you can enter a number DLUs and then come up with an acceptable allocation of UCL/CUWL/TP rooms beforehand.
Is there a formula somewhere that I can use to do this planning in advance of the actual upgrades?
    9

I just went through a particularly painful exercise with the Cisco licensing group migrating a CUCM 8.6 system to 9.1.  They required the following:
    1) License request from ELM
    2) Cisco SO# for upgrade order
    3) Output of the LCU utility
    4) ESW/UCSS contract number
In spite of carefully spelling out exactly what I needed was in the ELM license request, they issued a license which covered, all the licenses contained in the LCU report.  Unfortunately, the LCU report covered a dozen or so different clusters, which are isolated from each other and could not share an ELM.  After almost a month of working with the licensing group, I finally got it straightened out.  In the process, I grabbed this information from the ELM 9.1 migration license calculator:
    License Type                  DLUs Required
    CUWL Professional          12
    CUWL Standard               11
    Enhanced Plus                 9
    Enhanced                         6
    Basic                                4
    Essential                          0
    Telepresence Room        11

  • Error: Activation Server Unavailable CS2.  Adobe Instructions say to uninstall CS2 and go to Adobe and download version without the activation issue. But when I go there there is no link for CS2.  Has all other suites but not CS2.  Does this mean my softw

I just bought a smoking hot Toshiba Qosmio and I installed CS2. I was prompted to activate but got the error message above.  Instructions from Adobe said to uninstall and then install a version without the activation hang up. But when I go to Adobe to get it there is no CS2.  Lowest they have is CS3.  It appears there are no support options for me.  Any ideas Adobe?

    I followed those instructions:
    2. Download and install CS2 applications
You can use the serial numbers provided as a part of the download only if you legitimately purchased CS2, CS2 applications, Acrobat 7, or Audition 3.
Make sure that your computer meets these requirements:
    Mac OS X v.10.2.8–v.10.3.8. PowerPC® G4 or G5 processor
    Microsoft® Windows® 2000/Windows XP. Intel® Pentium® III or 4 processor
Select the language in which you bought the application:English | French | German | Japanese | Spanish | Italian | Dutch | Brazilian Portuguese | Swedish | Danish | Finnish| Norwegian | Chinese Traditional | Chinese Simplified | Korean
Sign in using your Adobe ID (usually your email address) and password. If you don't have an Adobe ID, click Create an Adobe Account.
Need help with your Adobe ID? See the Adobe ID
But when I go to try and download CS2 it is not an option. They have all the other suites except CS2

  • Is there a batch process for opening multiple raw images and applying the same, stored preset?

I often have multiple exposures of the same subject, which I would like to treat identically. At present I have to open each one individually in Camera Raw, apply the preset, save, go on to the next, etc.
Looking for a way, if there is one, to select them all, in order to apply the preset to all at once. Or perhaps there may be a scripting method to allow this?

Which version of photoshop, camera raw and operating system are you using?
You should be able to open all the images inside camera raw, Select All  (upper left of the camera raw dialog above the filmstrip of open images) and then apply the settings to all the selected images.

  • Correct conversion process for 23.98 clips into 25 seq

    Hi,
What is the correct process to convert sources of different frame rates to play correctly in seq? We have a couple different deliverables. Final files will be converted to mpeg2 either thru AME or thru seprate Telestream Episode Encoder
    Option 1:
Final output is 25fps file - HD
    sources at 23.98 and 29.97 - seq at 25
    Option 2:
Final output is 25fps file - SD PAL
    sources at 23.98 and 29.97 - seq at 25
Both options need to maintain syc with attached audio, and maintain source duration
We are always needing to convert frame rates....another example: 23.98 into 29.97 seq maintain audio sync and source duration.
    What about image seqs?
    Thanks

You could do exactly what I would do to figure out the answer.
Create some titles with 1 through 24 on them. Put them into a 23.98 sequence. Drop that sequence into a 25fps sequence.
Step through frame by frame and see what happens.
Do the same thing using a 29.97 sequence into the 25fps sequence.
    It should answer your question.
Report back. We would be interested in hearing about your results.
(I was going to do this but I realized it wasn't my problem. It would be better for the OP to figure it out for himself.)

  • Are there any rough processes for Solaris administrator to setup Sun LDAP as nameing server at Sun sparc host? like: 1st: modify /etc/nfsswitch.nfs 2nd: add LDAP server in /etc/hosts. 3rd: ......

Besides, can we install the LDAP server in sparc hosts as nameing system? Can we use Sun LDAP server or iPlanet Directory Server? or need BIND DNS server too?

There is a nice book from Michael Haines and Tom Bialaski: "Solaris and LDAP Naming Services" which contains all you need to configure Directory Server, LDAP, Naming Switch...

  • My email is not working - works on IE - ISP says uninstall Firefox and reinstall. Is there an easy process for this?

There seems to be some conflict on signing into my ISP email account. No error message, it just won't try to sign on. Works on IE. ISP had me upgrade Firefox. No. change. Last suggestion from ISP was uninstall Firefox and reinstall. Is there a way to do this without loosing bookmarks and that sort of thing. I hate MS generally and IE particularly. Is there help?

    What specifically is occurring?

  • Can someone walk me through download and installation process for Production Premium CS6 Windows? After Downloading I have no idea what I should do, tried everything!

Once the download is finished and it is in the C:Users/name/downloads section of my hardrive under a folder labeled "Package" What should I do with this file? It contains mainly zip files that I am unable to extract and cannot open for various reasons. Extraction is imppossible because it says there is not enough space on my hard drive and requires an additional 5.99 PB of space... I have 479GB of free space. How is this not enough???

May be there is not enough space in C drive. Try to extract to a different location.
Or it could be an issue with your harddrive controller. Check your dvice manager and install the correct drivers.

  • Standard process for creating a new version of an existing report

    Hi All,
We are using Siebel 8.1 with BI Publisher.
Does any one know the standard process for creating a new version of an existing report - ie if 'BIP Report XXX' is created and works correctly from the siebel view but then an enhancement is developed, how is the enhancement deployed so that the new version completely replaces the old?
    One suggestion was:
You can upload a new version of an existing report. You have to navigate to Administration - BIP > Report Template Registration... search for the report you need to replace (I would say that the new rtf file need to have the same name). Now you have to go to the "Template" column where there is the reference to the report file already uploaded but you don't have to click on the link that is displayed you have to click near the link in order to place the cursor on the field then you will be able to see the Multi Value Grup icon .. you click on it and you will be able to upload a new file.
We have tested this process today, however it is not effective in replacing the old version of the report.
After carrying out this process (including related steps from bookshelf - ie "click upload files"), we can generate the report from the relevant siebel view and the previous version of the report is still generated.
Is there a standard process for replacing an existing report that is effective?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
This currently seems like a bug , we have encountered this too.
work around is you have to delete the rtf files from server Siebel\client\temp\XMLP directory and upload them again so that they are not cached any more.
same on dedicated client you may have to delete relavant files form siebel\client\temp\xmlp directory and upload again.
    Thanks,
    Vamsi

  • Multiple processes for a host instance on one server

    Hi,
One of the prod environment server memory utilization is getting very high every few days. I searched a bit and found that there are many processes for "BTSNTSvc64.exe" in the task manager. Whenever we restart the host instance a new process is
getting created and the previous process is not getting killed.
This caused multiple processes in task manager and every process is occupying some memory. The process is actually not active but it is creating some bad sectors which is causing the Memory utlization to become high.
I am not able to kill the zombie processes either from Task manager. Server reboot is the option but wanted to know a permanent fix.
Can you please tell me the reason as to why this is happening and also the solution?

How many BizTalk Hosts do you have defined on the system? If you have multiple Hosts defined then you're likely to see one host instance associated with each of the hosts. Each host instance is a service and in the "Task Manager" - Processes you will
see multiple BTSNTSvc64.exe OR BTSNTSvc.exe * 32. This is OK is you have multiple host instances defined on your system (Services MMC will show you BizTalk Service BizTalk Group : BizTalk Host) and BizTalk Administration Console ->BizTalk Group ->Platform
Settings -> Host Instances will also show you the different host instances. Each instance is a multi threaded process running different aspects of the BizTalk Framework/Components. So each process will occupy memory if it is "started". All this is normal
behavior. If you're facing performance issues, you might want to ask the solution designer on their rationale for the number of hosts instances.
So when you stop the service, it does not stop? goes into a non-responsive state? and creates another instance?
    Regards.
