Current recommendations is turn Java off. Generally you don't need it. Do not confuse it with Javascript which you do need for your browsers.
You can disable in the browser you are using and/or more globally using the Java Preferences too (in Utilities), General tab (uncheck the checkboxes).

If it turns out you need it for some specific application or web site that you trust then turn it on only when running that application or visiting that site. If your work requires Java be enabled then at least disable it in your browsers.
If you do need to run Java, be sure that you pick up the Java Software Update 7 posted recently that takes 10.6 and 10.7 up to Java SE 6 revision 31.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

IPad 3 and older digital av adapter. It works, but is there reason to get the newer model?

I have an iPad 3. I also have an older model digital av adapter. It's model MC953ZM/A. Although its older it still works fine with my iPad 3 even though it says it's not supported when I plug it in. Is there any benefit to purchasing the newer model digital av adapter?

Other than not getting that message, or having Apple perhaps not support it should you call or visit them asking for assistance (I don't know if they'd just tell you to get the newer adapter, but it's possible), no, there's no reason I know of to buy the newer version of the adapter.

After I updated my iphone 5 to the new update there seems to be some difficulties with the camera. I get pink lines everywhere. It is a matter of seconds before it gets clear and again pink. But the problem started after the update. I asked other people who use iphone 5 and they said they didnt have the same problem. Its kinda weird I think. any suggestions?

Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the red slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove the camera app from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete the Camera app from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
- Restart the Camera app
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

Hi, I am a new iMac owner.
Being a network engineer and having worked for the "devil" himself, let me tell you... I would rather be dealing with the tiny glitches with the new iMac than owning a Dell, Toshiba, HP but most importantly running Vista!
This is a new machine with new HW and drivers. I enjoy trying the latest and the greatest. I realize there will be hurdles to overcome with any new product, but come one people! Let's stop whining, and help everyone out here. We are all here to provide constructive feedback to Apple while helping everyone out.
Yes there Display issues.
Yes there are Keyboard issues.
Yes there are WoW issue and UT as well.
Target disk issues.. Yes
Lock ups.. sure!
My suggestion... If you think you are better off with a PC and Vista, well go to it mate!
Sorry for the ramble, but I just got tired of all the whiners thinking that buying an iMac was their solution to never having issues by leaving the PC world, or should I say MSWorld... LOL

I think few, if any people claimed they were going to ditch their new iMac for a PC. I like Macs, but I don't love them like I used to.
Half the reason people buy them, is because they think they can rely on Macs more. They are supposed to be stable, fuss free and easy to use. And they still are for the most part.
But these new iMacs make a complete mockery of that because they don't represent very well what Apple stands for. "If" I bought a PC I would honestly expect some problems here & there. Its just part and parcel of the PC package. And although I don't expect Macs to be 100% perfect 100% of the time, I certainly expect better than this diabolical shambles that is the new iMac.
Just as an example.. My 4 year old G4 powerbook.. Not 100% problem free, granted. But mighty close. However, it has not crashed once the entire time I have had it. My new iMac however, crashed 4 times yesterday alone, and it didn't even get used as much as my old powerbook.
Maybe now you get the picture a little better?

It will almost certainly not connect directly to USB thumb drives. There's still no USB port, and except for photos on specifically-arranged drives, there have been no indications that such support will be provided via the Camera Connection Kit.

Is there a way to close down apps not in use on the new iphone 5S? On my 4 I used to be able to swipe showing all the apps that have been used and then close them to save battery life. I tried that on the new 5S but it doesn't work it just opens that app like a tab.

Itunes will not open on computer says it has stopped working and it must be closed. My computer tells me its an incompatible app. Is there a problem with the new itunes or is it my computer?

I have recently downloaded the new itunes. My computer will open itunes but then a screen pops up that says Itunes has stopped working and must close. This happens every time and i can not by pass it. I am afraid all my music is gone as well. I found on my computer that its an incompatible app. What does that mean exactly? Not completely sure. But if you think it is an iTunes issue...... follow through this: Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

Is there a bug in the new photoshop CS6 13.0.1.1 update? (Mac OS 10.7.5)

Since installing the latest update of photoshop CS6 13.0.1.1, (Mac OS 10.7.5, iMac late 2009) I have noticed the following problems: when I double click on the panels bar, the panel does not collapse, I have to right click on the bar to get the panel to collapse. Withe the curves adjustment layer, command clicking on the image does not register the point on the curve and command shift click will not set a point on the curves. this is all happening since the upgrade. Is it me or is there a bug in the update?

Thanks M, you're right, I do have 13.0.1, it's just for some reason ive noticed some strange behavior in photoshop, can't figure out why. I still can't get my panels to collapse when double clicking the bar and the curves adjustment layer doesn't allow me to place a point using the eyedropper tool when clicking on the image, this has just recently started after reinstalling photoshop on my imac using the creative cloud application manager

Hi, I just started up the new comp and my roommate began to complain about having no to little bandwidth.
I am using the Mac Airport Extreme with a strong internet connection. My Macbook Pro (2009 model) has no issues at all and we can have a wii system, as well as my roomie's desktop and my laptop streaming all at the same time with no lag in the connection. As soon as I went to download a file from the web with the new iMac all connections dropped.
I'm curious if anyone else is having these issues and what/if anything is being done to resolve it?

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
