Is there a cropping tool that also shows bleed boundaries?

I am looking for a cropping tool or plug-in that can indicate bleed or wrap boundaries.  I have a visible canvas of 24x48, and need to crop to include 4" bleed on all four sides... so the printed image is 32x56.  But I want to see and manuever the crop tool with bleed indicators so I can precisely visualize the front plane and determine what is being wrapped.
Is there a plug in or tool available for Aperture 3.5.1?  Thank you.

I follow.  See if this works around the problem you describe:
If you need a 2:1 ratio, and you are printing to 48 inches on the long axis for the visual plane, and need a 4" bleed on all sides, why not specify (in our imaginary tool) an Aspect 24 and 48; then the bleed, at 4, is proportional to the aspect ratio in units.  That would resolve the difference.
I am basically inputting whole units now with the crop tool, inputting for Aspect Ratio 32 x 56, and "centering" the image with some external markers and relative measuring tools.
If you are exporting the file at 300 dpi, it should come out as envisioned.
Thanks for the feedback link.  I will use it.

  • Premiere CS3-Is there a video/Website that can show me all that it can do?

I was just wondering if anybody knew of a video/website that can show me all the effects etc of premiere cs3.I have looked through the tutorials that came with the product but feel that they don't really offer any great detail as to what the effects do or what's in the pallet.
I do realize that there are tutorials that you can pay Adobe $150 or so for but I'm looking for something a bit less expensive than that!
    Many Thanks

    Dougie,
I've not seen, what you're looking for, all in one place. I've got a myriad number of books (CS2), and have downloaded many tutorials. What it seems is that one can explore a feature at a time, and then catalog that knowledge, before moving on to the next Effect. The Help files F1 probably put as much in one place as any book in my library. Unfortunately, one needs to "read between the lines," to get the full potential of each Effect - that, and check out discussion on it here. Some of the names can be a bit confusing, and when looking to do something, picking and using the right Effect might take some time, and be partially counter-intuitive too.
One of the best ways that I've found is to experiment with the Effects, and their settings, after reading up on them in F1. Then, if things still do not seem to be working, formulate a question, "I want to do X. What Effect should I choose?" and post it here.
Going back some versions, there was a great book on the Filters in Photoshop. About 1000 pages of nothing but using the Filters in that program, plus a vast number of free and for-pay Plug-ins. Very comprehensive and all in one spot. I still drag it out, though I'm probably 5 versions of PS away from it and the list of included Filters has expanded exponentially. Wish that I could find one for Premiere.
PP does have one nice feature - the search at the top of the Effects Panel. Only problem is you need to know the name of the Effect you're looking for. F1 will help (no pun intended) there. Still, you need a Rosetta Stone to find out the one you "need," and what its official name is. Same problem often exists with the tutorials. If you know which Effect you will need, or the name of the result, i.e. "Picture in Picture," you can search for that. If all you know is what you want to accomplish, but not what it is named, not so often. Still, watching a tutorial that does not address your immediate need, will still provide you with great info that you can likely use later.
"Classroom in a Book," is a good start (as are the tutorials around) on the Tool names and uses, plus many of the Effects. It's a bit sparse in the "why," but strong on the "doing." Since NLE is a lot of "art," the "why" is important to me, and overshadows the "doing." Sometimes, the exercises do connect-the-dots a bit better, on the why end of things.
Some day, I hope to have used every Efect with every variation, and actually remember what each one did, and why I used it. Not likely until CS50 though.
I also strongly recommend spending a few days with these forums, just reading. Do not skip the previous versions, even if you have only worked in CS3. A lot of the answers apply (some with modifications, but others more directly) to later versions, especially when looking for the choice of Effects, and tailoring them to your needs. Do not forget to use the "First," and "More" links on the forum pages, as there are often many pages of responses. This will also get you up to speed on the naming conventions used. When someone calls the Transition, "Fade to Black," someone else will point out that in PP, it's "Dip to Black."
I had it easier than most, 'cause I came from a cinematography background, with many years using Photoshop for advertising print output. Still, I found that I needed a good glossary of NLE terminology, as I discovered that the language had changed, or was just different. Gotta' learn something new every day of your life.

  • Is there a weather app that will show 12 hour temp forecast in a Glances view?

I've tried a bunch of the weather apps for the Apple Watch, and none of them seem to have the feature I'd like.  In the glances view, I'd like to be able to see what the termperature will be for the next 12 hours, in addition to the current termperature.  For example, I went to a baseball game last night and I wanted to know what the temperature would be when the game was done to see if I needed to bring a jacket along.
It would also be nice if all Apple Watch applications that supported Glances clearly distinguished their screen shot for Glances from the regular App interface in the App Store.  There are weather apps that have this feature in the app, but launching into an app is far less convenient than Glances.

Hmm. I think this is built in functionality.  I have the current temp showing on my Watch face. If I touch it, the watch brings up a round image showing the next twelve hours of temps. If you touch the screen again it shows cloud coverage/sunny status for each of those hours, touch it again it shows percent chance of rain precipitation for those twelve hours. I think this is what you are looking for. I find this easier to get to than the glances. Just a single tap on the current temp on the watch face. Of course this presumes you have the temp showing on your watch face.
Oh and if you scroll up it shows you the next ten days forecast.
Unfortunately they don't have a guided tour anywhere that I see for the built in weather app on the Apple website. But the screens are pretty nice. It's now my only weather app. All others have been ignored or uninstalled.

  • Crop tool does not show ratios

When I click the crop tool or press "c" I do not get the ratio options, only free hand cropping. It worked as I installed Photoshop/Bridge/Camera Raw but it just stopped. What can I do? I have CS5 and I use Windows. Thanks from Magnus

I am having the same problem.  The crop menu doesn't show drop down menu's.  I am running the 64 bit version of
photoshop CS5 and I don't know if maybe it is a compatiblity issue?  Any help to get the drop down menus to appear?

  • Is there a photo app that also lets me organize photos on hard drive?

I heard somewhere that one of the major photo applications lets you organize photos on your hard drive, but still have them in a Library inside the program?

I thought iPhoto keeps the photos on the hard drive organized for you and that you are not supposed to muck around in the library via finder. Is that not correct?
You can do both a Managed Library, where iPhoto copies the files into the Library on import, or a Referenced Library, where it doesn’t.
You can also run Aperture in this way.
You don't have a choice, you have to run Lightroom and Picasa as referenced Libraries.
To iPhoto specifically: why do you want to manage the files yourself? It's just more work.
    *How to do it:*
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
    *What Happens:*
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
    *Some things to consider:*
    1. Importing and deleting pics are more complex procedures. You have to to put the files where they will be stored before importing them. When you delete them you'll need to remove the files from the HD yourself.
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
    4. Because iPhoto has no tools for managing Referenced Files, if, for some reason, the path to the photos changes then you could find yourself resolving aliases for +each photo in the Library+ one by one.
    My own opinion:
I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
    *Want to use another editor*?
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.
    Regards
    TD

  • Is there any plug-ins that will show the missing text that couldn't be fitted in the created text box?

    Hello,
I often work with long pieces of text that are too long to be fitted inside a pre-determined text box.
I want to know how much text is not appearing inside of my text box without having to change the size of the text box. Is there any way of doing that? Perhaps via plug-in?

If there is more text than will fit inside an area text object, the out port of the object will show as a red + sign. Select the object with the Selection tool. Click on the red + and the pointer becomes a "loaded text" icon. Click and drag on an empty space of the artboard, creating a new text object containing the overflow text. It may be necessary to resize the new text object to view all remaining text.

  • Creating rollover buttons that also show a gallery image

    Hi all.
I'm a newbie to Dreamweaver, so please bear with me!
Here's what I'm trying to do: I'm creating a portfolio gallery.  I want to have a thumbnail button that will rollover and show its "down" image and also the corresponding portfolio image in the gallery window.  I know this can be done, as I've seen it numerous times.  So far, I've only found tutorials on how to create the button and not both button and gallery image.
Any suggestions?  And please - no code!  I can't seem to successfully implement code, as I'm html-retarded!  So if you can offer a tutorial link or even how to create this using the Designer interface in Dreamweaver, I'd TOTALLY appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    B.

This isn't something you can do with HTML alone.  You need a slideshow or gallery widget.
    I recommend jQuery Fancybox
    http://fancybox.net/
However a Google search will reveal tons of other ones.
As for a mouseover effect on thumbnails, you can do that easily with CSS.
Below is an example of Fancybox with CSS opacity applied to thumbnails.

  • There are several networks that keep showing up on my airport.  How do I delete them?

how do I delete unauthorized networks off my airport?

The other "unauthorized" networks that you see are simply the signals that are being produced by other wireless routers owned by your neighbors.
You might see anywhere from one or two to a dozen or more depending on where you live and how close other neighbors are located in relation to your home.
The neighbors can "see" the name of your network from their computers as well, so you might want to make sure that you have a good password for your wireless network to keep other uninvited guests from using it.

  • Is there a tool that works like 'Liquify' for Photoshop Touch on Ipad

I always use photoshop on my PC and i am thinking of getting an IPAD.
Photoshop Touch looks good but there a few tools that i cant find much info about online, so please help of you can.
I would like to use it for fashion and beauty images so i need to do the following things......
Make bodies slimmer/wider (i usually use liquify/bloat/shrink for this, im worried that if i use 'warp' it will look gimmiky and too extreme but i still want it to look quite natural.
Make skin texture smoother manually (like blur tool)
Make eyes and teeth whiter manually (to look natural not gimmiky)
Please help if you can and let me know what tools i can use for this in Photoshop Touch on IPAD.
    Thankyou

There is a blur tool in PS Touch. You can also use the dodge or burn effect via the paint tool. (Instead of painting with a color, you "paint" the effect, which can be customized to your liking. In addition to dodge/burn, there are also a bevy of other adjustments and effects to paint with, like saturation and brightness.)
There is a warp tool. Not sure if it would be the right tool for the job but it doesn't seem gimmicky to me from what I've tried (mostly corrections in perspective).
If you know anyone with an iPad or Android tablet and they have PS Touch, ask to see it.

  • My crop tool isn't visible in the effects controls of Premiere Pro.  Where could it be?

I've just downloaded Premiere Pro CS6 and it's all up to date.  When I go to the effects controls to crop a graphic the "crop tool" is not showing as in it's simply not there.  To be clear, it's not there at all, no selection for a drop down.   Is there some where that I need to access to make it show up or what?  The motion, scale, opacity, etc are all showing as an option, but not the crop tool.

I just did that write before I read this post.  I was going on here too delete this, but saw you answered it!  That's exactly what I did.  I've been watching tutorials and they show it as if it automatically shows up in Effect Controls...

  • PS CS6 issue with crop tool: graphic glitches

I am using Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2 and I'm experiencing an issue with the crop tool. Whenever I use the crop tool, move the frame around and then zoom in on the image, the image becomes noisy, pixelated or has other 'graphic glitches'. I changed the PS preferences to not use the GPU and then rebooted the computer. Still the same issue without the GPU.
Running on Mac OS 10.8.3, iMac 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6970M.
Is there another workaround to use this tool until it might get fixed? Thank you.

I've seen the same issue from time to time on windows 13.01.1 usually only on rather large pixel dimension documents.
Does it make a difference if you flatten the image before using the crop tool?
Also, using the classic mode for the crop tool doesn't seem to have that glitch.

  • Can't rotate movie (crop tool shaded)

Just moved to iMovie 10 from an old version.
I don't seem to be able to rotate any of my movies. I can select the clip, go to Adjust, but from there the Crop tool is shaded so I can't rotate.
I can select all of the other icons (except the shaking camera). Wondering what I am missing...
This holds for both new and old events, held on my internal and external libraries.
Using OS 10.9.1 and iMovie 10.0.1
    Thank you-

Which operating system are you using?
The Crop Tool shares the same tool slot in the toolbox with the Recompose Tool.
You should be able to Left click and hold on the toolbox icons to see the fly-out menus for the tools that share the same slots.
Tools in the toolbox that have other tools in the same slot have a little black arrow to the right of the tool icons.
One can also use Shift+C to switch between the Crop and Recompose Tools.
