But correct me if I'm wrong when I say that WL Server/Express does not support JMS and EJB 2.0?
Is there any dist that I can use to try out the server for developing porpose that support JMS?

  • Looking for a client/server that supports multiple protocol and delivery

Hi all, I don't know if this the right place to ask my question, here it goes.
I am looking to develop a client-server that supports multiple protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS etc. I am looking for a framework( i don't know if that is correct or I need some kind of web-service (soap etc)) that would manage connection, security etc. I would like to like to devote most of my time in developing business objects with multiple delivery mechanism such as sending serilized java objects, xml message or soap message, or in some case JMS message as well. So I need a client server that can come in via TCP/IP or HTTP or anyother industry standard protocol and I should be able to service him with pub/sub model and also request/response model as well.
I don't know if I had explained what I need, I would like to know what technologies I should be evaluating and which direction I should be heading... Also the server I'm developing should be free of Java constraints if needed...
Also this service is not webbased service as now but if need arises I should have a flexibilty to make them web enabled in future. Also I would like to work with open source webservers or appservers if I need

"i3 was created because wmii, our favorite window manager at the time, didn't provide some features we wanted (multi-monitor done right, for example), had some bugs, didn't progress since quite some time and wasn't easy to hack at all (source code comments/documentation completely lacking). Still, we think the wmii developers and contributors did a great job. Thank you for inspiring us to create i3. "
To change the border of the current client, you can use bn to use the normal border (including window title), bp to use a 1-pixel border (no window title) and bb to make the client borderless. There is also bt  which will toggle the different border styles.
    Examples:
    bindsym Mod1+t bn
    bindsym Mod1+y bp
    bindsym Mod1+u bb
or put in your config file
    new_window bb

  • Is there a DLNA compliant Media Server for the iMAC

Is ther a DLNA compliant Media Server that will run on an Intel based iMAC running Lion?

I used to have a 30 foot HDMI cable going from my Mac to my Denon receiver (which just turned in to a second monitor) and using Plex, I would play my HD MKV files without issue.  Now my Mac mini is in one room and the home theater is in another and I can't get any AVI or MKV files to play through my Samsung equipment.  Vuze SUPPOSEDLY supports streaming to thousands of DLNA devices but while I could see my files, none of them would play.  I've also tried Plex, VLC, EyeConnect, and TVMobili.  I have the same problem with all of them.  Either they won't play MKV files, or I'll select an AVI and it'll see the file but never play it.  Then each server, in its own way, disconnects from my device.
    Hardware:
    Samsung PN51D8000 Plasma
    Samsung BD-D5500 Blu-Ray
    Denon 3808CI
    Mac Mini - Intel 2.4GHz, 8 GB RAM, OS X Lion 10.7.2
Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

If none of that works is there a way to get it working alternativly?
    Additional Information:
Everything is linked via ethernet cable.
I'm using a PC to set it up.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I'll help where I can.
    Thank you for any help

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!)   I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

My iPad will not let me log into iTunes because it says that there is an un excepted server, and I don't know what to do

Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • Need help with setting up a photolibrary on server that can be accessed/edited by multiple users

    Hi:
I would like to develop an in-house photolibrary for our graphics department. The goal is to be able to add keywords to all our images so that we could have a more dynamic means of searching through our countless scanned images. Lightroom works great with regards to keywording and searching.
To make it so all the computers in our office could have access to the images, I created a photolibrary on our server that can be accessed by any of the computers in our graphics dept. However, when one computer adds keywords to an image, that info does not show up on any of the other computers. Perhaps this is an issue with the trial version and we need to get the license? A few other people suggested that it might have something to do with my export settings - I tried to play around with the settings but had little luck...Any Advise?
    Thanks,
    Leo

Thanks for your thorough reply. Is there a way to have one MASTER computer that could create the keywords and have the other computers access the master computer's catlogues - or something of that sort. We are small graphics dept. with three people so even that would suffice.
Lightroom is not a networked application, and cannot be set up so that multiple computers can access LR via a network.
The only real workaround with LR is to put the catalog and photos on an external HD and then physically connect the external HD to the computer of the person wanting to use it. So only one person can use the catalog at one time.
You can look up Digital Asset Management (DAM) software on Google if you really need to have multi-user access and networked.

  • Forms Developer vs Forms Server

    Hello All,
What is diffence between Oracle Forms Developer and Oracle Forms Server?
when should we use Oracle Forms Server?
    Regards,
    DN

    Hi there,
In brief and without getting too technical...
Oracle Forms Developer is the tool that you use to build the source Form files (FMB) and you need to compile the FMB files into FMX files before it can be executed. The current version of Forms Builder is 10g. The software is part of a suite of software products commonly known as 9ids/10ids.
Oracle Forms Server is the middle tier software that executes the FMX files. This software is old technology (refers to verion 6/6i). The current middle tier software is called 9ias/10ias of which Forms Services is one of the modules.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards,
    John

    Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
        * A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor

        * At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
        * DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
        * At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools  (I recommend 20GB minimum)

At least I understand, but the functionality does not match what the manual says.  When functionality does not match the manual it is a BUG.
What if I do not want to use IMAP or Exchange?  I do not like being forced to use technology I do not trust.
No, it is not a bug. It is working as designed. And there is noting in the manual that staes you can create folders for a POP account.
You do know that any email sent through a POP account stays on the provider's server (often for years) even if you delete it from your inboxes, right? Completely beyond your control. Refusing to use an IMAP service doesn't protect you from anything.

  • A new version of Firefox, which downloaded automatically, says Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that's refusing connections, even though I had access before the download.

I was using Firefox earlier in the day with no problem. About half an hour ago I tried to get on the Internet using Firefox (as always). When I did, I was greeted with a little dialog box showing that something was downloading. That's happened before.
This time, though, I was greeted by an error page that said Firefox was configured to use a proxy server that's refusing connections.
I'm not on a network. I have a desktop computer that connedts to a wireless modem that I share only with my wife. I didn't change my settings on either. Neither did my wife.
My "Connection Settings" box still says "use system proxy settings." There are no entries in the manual settings boxes.
I want to emphasize that I changed *nothing.*
I need to know, please, how I can set my computer to get back onto the Internet or, failing that, how I can go back to the previous version of Firefox.
    Thank you very much.

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"
    See "Firefox connection settings":

  • Mac/iPhoto trying to connect to an old server that no longer exists

    I have a MacBook Air, running OS X 10.7.5
Because I was running out of space and set up an AFP connection to a NAS.  The NAS is now dead and gone, but in certain situations the Mac tries to connect
    1. In MS Office, if I have the ClipArt/Shape/etc browser open, it tries to connect to the server - is a PITA but I can live with it
    2. In iPhoto, it constantly tries to connect, particularly if I am using the slideshow feature - Has rendered iPhoto unusable.
The iPhoto situation is that I perhaps foolishly connected to a photo folder on the NAS share and iPhoto imported a bunch of pictures from there.  Now that the server is offline, it constantly looks for them and tells me that it can't connect.
I can still see the thumbnails but obviously it cannot access the full files. I don't know exactly which folders are NAS pictures and which are not
I've found some similar topics but not a satisfactory answer.
How can I stop this message - how can I stop the Mac from trying to connect to a server that is never going to be there?

The location should be /Users/your name/Pictures. You can change this by holding down the option or alt key (the ones immediately to the left or right of the cmd keys either side of the spacebar) whilst clicking on the iPhoto application icon in your dock and making an informed choice from the options you see.
By default iPhoto creates an iPhoto Library (the folder where all your data in iPhoto is stored) in the /Users/your name/Pictures folder. It seems that in the past you must have selected an externally or network attached volume named TOSHIBA as the location for the iPhoto Library instead using the instructions I've given you. All you have to do is revert it back to the location you now want.

  • Replacing a NW 6.5 server that is a SLP DA

Hi everyone, I will be replacing a Netware 6.5 server that is also one (of 2) of our SLP DAs. The new server will have the same name and I/P address. When I remove eDirectory from the current server (in preparation to install the replacement), I assume that the eDir DA object will be deleted. Once the new server is installed and running (again, same name and I/P), I plan to re-create the DA object and include it in the Scope object. As with the current server, the autoexec.ncf will load SLPDA.
Is that all there is, or should I be aware of anything else?
    Thanks.

No, SLPDA configurations are pretty straight forward. If the edir object isn't automatically deleted, then just delete it manually (for this DA only, not the other slp objects). Should be pretty smooth sailing for you.

  • Does anyone know whether BT has a mail server that...

Does anyone know whether BT has a mail server, other than mail.btinternet.com, that supports only POP3/SMTP and not IMAP?  For those interested, the background is as follows.
I've been trying to get my iPad Mail client to connect to mail.btinternet.com using POP3/SMTP.  When you try to set up an email account on the iPad in the normal way, you are not given the choice of using POP or IMAP.  The Mail client appears to query mail.btinternet.com and, if it determines that the server supports IMAP, it then proceeds to set up a connection using IMAP.  Now, I know a workaround to force the Mail client to connect using POP3/SMTP.  That is not the problem.  The problem is that Mail client does not appear to work properly with POP3/SMTP, and I suspect this is because some of the Mail client code, under the covers, still believes it is using IMAP.
For example, having setup an email account that uses POP3/SMTP, if I try to create a local mailbox/folder on the iPad Mail client, the operation fails with the message "Unable to Create Mailbox The mailbox couldn't be created on the server".  So I ask myself, why is the Mail client trying to create a mailbox/folder on the server?  The conclusion I have come to is that the Mail client still thinks it is using IMAP.
I suspect that there are defects in the iPad Mail client code.  But, to test this, it would be good to experiment by setting up a connection to a mail server that supports only POP3/SMTP and not IMAP and then see whether the Mail client behaves any differently.  Hence my initial request.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Both my wife and I use the Outlook mail client on Windows for our "serious" email and we are very happy with Outlook.
The iPad is actually my wife's and she bought it for other reasons, such as to Facetime friends and relations, install the Kindle app and read Kindle books, use the BBC iPlayer app, and so on.  But I have set up a separate btinternet email address for her to use on the iPad and she intends to give that email address only to certain close relations.  But, so far, we have found that the iPad Mail client is just not usable with POP/SMTP, and she doesn't really want or need to use IMAP.
Edit:  Sorry, forgot your specific question.  No, it doesn't create the folder/mailbox locally.  It fails completely.
