Is there a difference between backup and sync?

I'm really confused....
Looking at iTunes (on my pc), I see all my apps there, with the amt of space they take up.  However, when I look at my latest backup on my iPad, it lists the very same apps (I think!!) but shows "no data" on many of the apps that show up when I look at them on iTunes.  What is going on here?  I'm trying to back up my iPad to the iCloud and it doesn't back up all my apps. I have 4.7G of space available on my cloud.   I've tried several times over the past couple of days.  I've done a "soft reboot" on the ipad, turned it on and off, backed it up to my computer, etc and still, when I try to back up to the cloud, only some of my apps are showing.  Is it something stupid like I don't have them checked somewhere?  Because I've looked in iTunes (on my pc) and on my iPad and all the apps are checked.  Thanks for your help.  This is driving me nuts.  :-/

Yes, I have all my apps to sync with iCloud.  And according to the backup file size calculator, it's only 300M or so, which is WRONG. I f I add up all the apps (set to "on") it should be well over 300M. It will not, however, exceed the 5G of free cloud space.
I also have an iPhone and use the cloud with it, too, but it has a different AppleID for iCloud. Both my iPad and iPhone use the same appleID for iTunes. I set it up this way to get 5G of could storage for each of my devices. And it looks like it worked (5G available in each iCloud account) except the iPad backup isn't complete, and as I have stated earlier, is nowhere near the 5G limit.

  • Difference between backup and sync ?

What is the difference between a backup and doing a sync ?

backup is part of the sync procedure. If you uncheck the "Sync contacts to.." box under the phone info, special field names used in the contacts list won't get lost as they will if iTunes tries to stuff your contact fields into some address book on your host computer. Create a contact with a few phone numbers like "Main" and "Support" and "Shipping" as additional phone numbers. Do a SYNC, and check your address book on the host computer. You'll find that data is simply gone for these additional phone number fields.
Apparently if you don't SYNC to an address book, the sync/backup procedure saves the special fields in the backup directory. Maybe it even saves these fields if you backup using the SYNC approach, but this isn't the impression left by 2nd level tech support. Their solution is to get mobile me to keep your contacts list from getting corrupted or losing data.

  • Is there a difference between AirPrint and printing via usb printer plugged into an airport extreme?

My printer does not show up in the add a printer option on my iMac when plugged into the extreme. I have a HP officejet 5610 All-in-One. I want to be able to print wirelessly using my Airport Extreme.  Thank you

Is there a difference between AirPrint and printing via usb printer plugged into an AirPort Exreme?
    Big difference.
AirPrint for one will not work via USB, so you will not be able to print from an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad using this type of connection unless you look at additional software....that may or may not allow this option.
Assuming that you get the All-in-One setup using the USB port on the AirPort.......only printing is supported.
You will not be able to use any other advanced features like maintenance, scan, copy, fax, etc when the device is connected to the USB port on an AirPort.
If you plan to use the HP for other things, I would strongly recommend that you connect it to your computer.
My printer does not show up in the add a printer option on my iMac when plugged into the extreme.
This usually indicates that your printer model is not supported. Check with HP Support to see if they have any updated Macintosh drivers for the 5610 that you could download and install that might allow this.

  • Is there a difference between Thrive and Excite power connector

Is there a difference between Thrive and Excite power connector? I am asking because there are a lot of Docks for Thrive 10" tablets....... If the power connector is the same, I should be able to dock my Excite 10" onto the same Dock, and purchase a similar poer adapter?
What are your thoughts - is it possible?

As far as I know AC adapter for Thrive uses 30W and Excite only 10W AC adapter.
Have you checked specification for both devices.

  • Is there any difference between 10g and 11g M Views?

    Hi,
I need to give a demo on and working examples of materialized views. The requirement is this: Master tables are in a 10g R2 DB, MV is in a 11g.
I just create a DB Link in 11g to point to the 10g DB and then create the MV in 11g.
Will there be any problems creating a 11g MV using 10 Master tables?
My question is are there any significant differences between 10g and 11g MViews??
    Thanks & Regards,
    Channa.

You have to be careful about your versions. 10g could be 10.1 or 10.2 11g could be 11.1 or 11.2
    I wouldn't have an 11.2 database with a database link against a 10.1 database.
In fact, even with 10.2, I would try to ensure that I have a "high patchset" (10.2.0.4 or 10.2.0.5) although, in theory, 10.2.0.1 should also work.

  • Is there a difference between itunes and apple tv

Sorry if this  has been asked before. Is there a difference between the content on iTunes and the content on Apple TV?
I was searching for a movie today and found differing results to begin with between the iTunes on my phone and iTunes on my ipad2, this turned out to be the price for a SD version on my iPhone and the HD version found on my iPad2. However I searched for the same movie on Apple TV and couldn't find it, hence the why I am asking if there is a difference between what's available.

Your Apple TV searches iTunes Store for either SD or HD but not both at the same time (you can change the default in settings), so if something isn't available in HD and you search using the HD default, you won't see it.

  • Is there a difference between usa and uk apple tv in terms of Pal and ntsc or they both exactly the same ?

My mate just brought me back an apple TV 3 from America and I have plugged it into my pal projector but the colours look a bit weird, I wanted to know if im imagining it or is there a difference between the USA and UK apple TV. does one have pal and one have ntsc? if so how do I change the USA one to pal ?

    Winston Churchill wrote:
I'm not sure what you are trying to tell us, there are no PAL and NTSC settings on the Apple TV, only 50/60 Hz and that has nothing to do with colour.
I thought the OP was asking WHAT the difference between PAL & NTSC is, that is why I posted the links I did.
    Maybe I misunderstood the question.

  • Are there any differences between black and white?

    Hi, this is the question:
Are there any differences between a black and a white macbook (2,0 Ghz) except the coulor? I am thinking about buying a macbook but i dont know really what to do
    Coul someone help me plz?

This page explains the differences between the two white macbooks and the black mac book: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/0.RSLID?mco=A 4791B5D&nclm=MacBook
It should answer any questions you have about all three.
The lowest price macbook has a less fast processor, and the same size hard drive as the middle priced macbook. The lowest priced one also does not have a DVD burner while the middle priced white one does and the black one.
The black macbook has a bigger harddrive then the middle priced macbook and thats about all thats different between the middle priced white one and the black one.

  • Is there any difference between iPhotobooks and Aperturebooks

    Hello,
Can someone tell me if there is any difference in paperquality and covermaterials between iPhotobooks and books via Aperture.
I did receive my first iPhotobook: it looks good in printing and coulor, but the paper is a bit thin(cheap look). It feels the same as the paper in the books of our warehouse. Apart from the design options will the quality be better if I print it vias Aperture?
    Thanks for any comment

No, there is no difference. Instance name is the same as SID.

  • Is there a Difference between Binding and Mapping

    Hello together,
in SAP NetWeaver Library they speak about Data Binding and Mapping
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/77/3545415ea6f523e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
Is Binding and Mapping the same thing? Or is there any difference?
Am I right in thinking binding works the following way:
    There´s Context-Element NAME into the Component-Controller-Context,
    a Context-Element NAME into the View-Controller-Context and one UI-Element on my View-Layout.
In the next step, I bind View-Controller-Context-Element NAME against the Element in the Component-Controller-Context, and the UI-Element against the element into the view controller.
While runtime, the Context-Element of the Component-Controller-Context gets created.
Is it right, that because of the binding, all involved Controller-Contexts work on the same reference of the
data-object, which is behind Context-Element NAME?
    Thank you very much.
    With regards,
    Oliver

    Hi,
Both are different, binding is between view UI element and view context node/attribute.Mapping is between two controlleres like view controller and component controller. The detailed information is given in the below article about context.

  • Is there a difference between restart and startup

I was told a long time ago  that there was a difference between hitting restart on your computer and just turning it off and back on again, that somehow your computer performed extra tasks to make sure everything was working properly when you did a restart.
However I've just scoured the web for any confirmation of this and can't find it.
I must admit that on occasion when something wasn't working right I have just restarted my computer and it fixed the problem,  however I didn't try turning it off and back on again just hit the restart link so maybe it would have worked either way.
Does anyone know if this theory holds water or not.
    Thanks

Upon a cold boot(not a restart), the computer tests the installed RAM and other hardware components.
