Is there a difference in scripting for Adobe Reader 8.0

Hi,
I started to create Interactive forms with Adobe Reader 7.0 installed on my machine. I had problems with dynamically growing text field so when I searched the forum, it was suggested that it is a problem for the Adobe versions 7 and lesser so I installed Adobe Reader 8.0 on my system but after installing that lots of scripts stopped working.
An example is that the following print comman is not working now.
xfa.host.print(1, "2", "2", 0, 1, 0, 0, 0); - I am trying to print the 3rd page.
Can anyone tell me if the scripting has changed because it was working fine till I installed the newer version of Adobe.

Hi Kalyan,
No idea about Abode reader 8.0 but i suugest try to use Adobe reader 7.1.
your scripts should work on 7.1. You can test the client side scripts using adobe life cycle designer standalone.

I want to make a note that I did a search on the form, using the following text
"Is there a 64 bit install for adobe reader?"
And I did not find my answer. That is why I'm posting this as a question.
So, with that out of the way....
I am getting ready to build a new computer for myself, and will be running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. Before I begin, I want to make sure I have all of my software that I want installed, and I am doing research on each program to see if there is a 64 bit version that can be installed. What I would like to do is have as many as my programs that I install be 64 bit as possible. I know that not every program will be 64 bit, but I did want to get as many of them as possible to be 64 bit applications.
As I do want a PDF reader on my computer, and I have used Adobe Reader for years, I started looking on the web site to download the current version. However, I did not see any place that I could download a 64 bit version of Adobe Reader.
That is why I'm here asking. Is there a 64 bit version of Adobe Reader that I can download? If so, where is it on the web site?
This does lead me to a follow up question. Is there a 64 bit version of the Flash Player, as well as the Shockwave player? If so, where can I download them from as well.

Again, I think you need to check the Microsoft web page, as I was able to find 64 bit versions of IE8 for download.
The URL to access the page is

From that page, I am able to select a 64 bit version of IE 8 for the following Operating Systems
-- Windows XP 64 Bit
-- Windows Vista 64 Bit
-- Windows Server 2003 64 Bit
-- Windows Server 2008 64 Bit
Windows 7 is not listed as an option as it already comes with IE8 installed by default.
Looks to me that Microsoft has already released a 64 bit version of IE8.
In fact, I went ahead and downloaded IE8 for Windows 2003 Server x64 bit, and looked at the details of the file. Each microsoft download has a digital signature associated with them, showing a date and time of when the exe was built.
According to what is shown below, IE8 for Windows Server 2003 has been around since Sunday, March 08, 2009.
So, what has adobe been doing since March of 2009? IE8 has been 64 bit for well over 2 years now (it will be 3 in March of 2012). While I know that it does take time to develop new applications, I don't think it would take 3 years for Adobe to come up with a 64 bit version of Reader that could have been built under the 64 bit platform.

Since your options don't seem to be limited by pay vs. open source, you have a multitude of possible solutions. You could purchase the now outdated SMS 2003 product from Microsoft, or elect to go with their "latest and greatest" distribution management product SCCM. We have dabbled with another similar product here that shows promise: Altiris. An open source option that I ran across in my research is WPKG. I can not vouch for WPKG but it seems a viable solution. Keep in mind, with a paid product, you are paying for support as well as the software. If you elect to go with an open source option, support can be somewhat limited in scope.

To remove a password, you would have Acrobat (not Reader). Go to File > Properties, set No Security. Enter the password when prompted.

Per-user location for adobe reader plugins

I am working on an installer which for a per-machine installation, copies a plugin to Adobe Reader's plugins directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins). But for a per-user installation, it won't have access to this directory. So, is there a per-user location for Adobe Reader/Acrobat plugins where this plugin can be installed?

Any version control software, like CVS, allows for line-to-line comparison of different versions of the same file. The problem with reports is that to understand differences you need to save the reports in human readable format that can be REX-file.

Reader 11 isn't supported for Vista (although it has been succesfully installed).
To get it, you need to choose the option for a different language or OS and select an OS that is supported. Then it wil give you the option to download 11.
But again, not supported.
