Is There a disadvantage of Material Late Block?

Dear Gurus,
We have a problem. 2 users can not work with the same material at the same time, the system gives an error as "the material is locked by the user XXX"
I know that there is a customization about this .
Customizing at MM -> General Settings for MM ->Set Material Blocks for Goods Movements.
At our system it is set to exclusive block, i want to change it to late block.
Do you know about any disadvantages about late blockage? Or is there another way ?

Hi,
This will not solve the problem, at best it MAY make the problem occur less often but only by increasing the risk slightly.
But if someone is updating the material master record it will ALWAYS be blocked to other users. The settings just determine at which point the lock is set.
Have a look at the help behind this field and you will see the advantages and disadvantages of each.
There is also a flag (on ECC6, not sure if it is there on earlier releases) called "shared lock". This, when set on, can help reduce the situations where the material is locked. Basically it allows you to carry on material movements even if the material master is being updated at teh same time (as long as the valuation fields are not being changed). SPRO > Logistics General > Material MAster > Basic Settings > Make global settings.
So there are ways to reduce the problem slightly but you will always get timnes when the material is locked and it is always annoying when it happens (even though it is absolutely essential).

Call the function module ENQUEUE_EMMARAE with the required material number. If sy-subrc is not 0, after the function module has executed completely then the material is locked by a different user.

How to transfer material from blocked stock to scrap location

Dear Experts,
Weu2019ve put some of raw material into blocked stock. Now we want to scrap these materials & for that Iu2019m trying to take it to unrestricted stock from blocked stock by MIGO (transfer posting ,Mvt type=343).
But during that system shows an error message that u201CBest before/SLED of batch has been exceededu201D
Due to this Iu2019m not able to scrap the material from blocked stock.
Pls advise what to do .Is there some other way to do it??

Hi,
You can directly scrap it from Blocked stock using movement type 555 . Further from the message it is observed that SLED( Self Life Expiration Date ) check is active for this material in material master . Try to scrap it in 555 mvt .

One cannot speak of 'disadvantage' in this case... If you activate material ledger, you acieve different valuation logic of the prices in the procurement process. Please, consult composite note 532932 for further info. The intimidation of activation is a result of numerous 'bugs' in previous SAP releases regarding the material ledger documents. Most of these 'bugs' are fixed, but the fear remains

Hi Pryianka,
Are you speaking about blocked status of material master ('X-plant matl status' > MM03 > Basioc view 1; 'Plant-sp. matl status' > MM03 > MRP 1) or your problem is to find out the date when your material was booked into blocked state (stock category).
If your problem is about mmr you can use the above mentioned MM04 (or MM03 > menu > Environment > Display changes).
If your problem is to find out when your goods were posted to blocked stock you have to use MB51 + relevant movement types (e.g. 103, 344) + batch + etc. ()

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Diagnosis
You wanted to make a change in the material master record which requires that the master record is blocked in all plants.
A change of this kind includes, for example, the entry of a valuation type that allows single batch valuation, or changing of the batch management requirement if the batches have a cross-plant definition in your system.
System Response
The change required cannot be made until the material can be blocked by the current transaction in all plants

From the error desc it appears you are making a change that has an impact on more than one plant. probably while extending you are trying to change a value for the new plant where the extension is being made.
make sure if this change is needed, its blocked in the plants for the field which has a diff value. you might have to modify the value of the field causing diff across the other plants also to make it uniform.

Then create a subtype of that BO.
Write a custom method. In that method use a BDC program.
First develop the BDC program and save it as a FM.
Then call this FM in your custom method and pass the data from workflow.
Make this method as background processing.
I think this should do the rest job.

are you sure the lats/longs aren't there? if not, i don't know how to add them now, but you can click on the 'i' in the picture and zoom in on the map as close as possible. to get the lat/long on there beforehand you have to turn on the camera's location in the settings app. or did you accidentally post this in the iphone forum?

Unlike Mr. Galt, I don't use TM, preferring bootable clones made with Carbon Copy Cloner. Disadvantages?
1. not bootable, so useless if the boot volume goes south, without reinstalling the OS and hoping that restores the boot volume. Alternatively, you can wipe the boot volume, reinstall the OS, and hope the TM backup is restorable. Contrast with booting into a clone and immediately knowing if it works. If so, then you're back in business.
2. TM requires always having the ext HD connected and powered up. I prefer connecting ext FWHDs and updating clones on my schedule, not Apple;'s,
3, I've never had to retrieve something I changed or deleted, so TM holds no value for me.

We want that when do anything (create PO, create BOM, material movements etc) on XXXXX material, system must show the message - Due to phys. inv., material is blocked for movements.
If we mark X in Phys. Inv. Block indicator in material master under Store location stock, then this msg must be shown, but not happening this.
How can we do it.

Hi,
Maintain the blocking indicator in the purchasing view of material master - Plant-sp.matl status.
Based on the block configuration you will get warning/error message.
The Physical inventory block indicator in Storage location stock view is set automatically when you create a physical inventory document with posting block.
But this block will only restrict material movements for this material. PO/BOM creation will be allowed.
