Is there a discount for educators with regards to a developers licence?

Hi, i teach computer science, would like to start developing apps for iPhone with my students, was wondering if there was a discount available for teachers?

What kind of teacher are you and what kind of discount do you want? The iOS Developer University Program is free.

No discount for anyone. If you can upgrade your hardware to Mavericks, then it will cost you $20 bucks.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

Nobody in these forums represents Apple or any store.  If you want to buy something, you need to contact stores directly yourself or consult their webpages.

Is there any discount for developer? or another?

There once was... but I don't think it's in place any longer. Employee, student - those are the only two that I am aware of.

  • Is there any pen for iPad with retina display ?

Is there any pen for iPad with retina display ?

Yes. The Bamboo stylus is fully supported. Only the soft rubber tipped side. The Pen side obviosuly not.
Note all stylus that work with the iPad are noticeably thicker than a pen or pencil, so precision is not something you'll get much of.
Look at the link I provided, all those stylus work with iPad. See if you like one of those. Or if you can fnd one of those were you live.

  • Is there a discount for multiple accounts?

    Hi
My wife and I have seperate Icloud accounts. Is there a discount for multiple accounts upgrading to the additional storage?

I'm afraid not; and additional storage is per separate account and cannot be shared.

  • Teacher discounts for teachers with non-EDU addresses?

I've seen a number of websites say that Best Buy will price match Apple's EDU discount, specifically mentioning teachers. However, from personal experience, I know that Apple accepts non-EDU email addresses from K-12 institutions when giving their educator discount. I was informed by somebody in store at Best Buy that this deal is only available for college students with .edu email addresses. So, what's the truth? Will Best Buy price match Apple's educator discount for K-12 teachers whose institutions do not use .edu, or is this discount solely for college students and educators with .edu addresses?

    Hi bbernardini,
The start of a new school year can be a busy and expensive time for students and educators alike, so wanting to take advantage of the lowest price available on the latest tech is certainly understandable. It sounds like there may be some confusion between our Low Price Guarantee and timed promotions though, so I'd be glad to shed some light on the situation.
Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, Best Buy does not offer an official educator or student discount at this time. We are, however, able to match the price of most indentical in-stock products at local retail competitors and those shipped from and sold by select online retailers. A full list of requirements and exclusions can be found here:
BestBuy.com > Help Center > Low Price Guarantee
    http://bbyurl.us/LPGFAQ
As far as our College Student Deals are concerned, these limited-time offers are indeed resricted to college-bound students. For students attending a school that does not use .edu addresses or does not provide e-mail services, a process is in place to ensure they're still able to take advantage of these promotions. Regrettably, K-12 students and educators are not eligible for these offers.
    I hope this helps.

  • Is there any discount for apple apps for students?

    Hello,
I am a student. I need to use Final Cut pro and Page, keynote and other apps. I can get all the apps free from my friends.
But, as far as I know, it breaks copyright law. I want to be 100% legal.
But it is impossible for me to efford that much money to buy them. So, does Apply give any discount for the students?
    Please help me dear friends...

So, If I buy Motion 5, I will get it for life time. Even I can get updates all the time...
Again, it depends on where you get it and how Apple continues to sell it. If you buy from the Mac App Store, then as long as Apple doesn't make some future version a new, separate app, then you would be able to get all future upgrades. But Apple could decide to release some future version of Motion as a new app in which case, as deggie said, you will have to buy it again. There's no way to know, and Apple can't/won't tell you so there's no point in contacting Apple Support on the issue.
    Regards.

I really like the program Final cut proX but the price is really high so I was wondering if I can download a teacher or student discount version anywhere?

  • Is there any discount for X

I am gonna buy a Creative Zen 20G but currently does not have enough S$399 so I wanna ask to see if there is any discount for the forthcoming xmas.

Other than free shipping for orders over $99.99 i don't know, only Creative customer services will be able to tell you that, unless they have already stated a discount on their on-line shop.

  • Is there any discount for iPads when buying iMac?

My wife and I are purchasing an iMac in the near future and we would like to get an iPad. We both have macbook pros, and when we purchased them (a few years ago) we both vaguely remember promotion that discounted iPads. We are both students and plan to use the student pricing on the iMac. Thanks!

There are no educational discounts on the iPad for individual purchasers. If you buy your iMac and iPad from an independent dealer, though, you may be able to negotiate something, and that may end up being less expensive overall than buying the iMac with Apple's educational discount.
    Regards.

  • Are there any discount for apple? I would like to buy the iphone 5s without contract but it seems too expensive

is there any way to get a discount on an iphone 5s ,esp one bought without contract?

The only discounts are through the carriers themselves, in exchange for you agreeing to a contract term.  It's not really a discount as much as it is simply distributing the cost of the phone over the period of the contract - the carriers still make their money on the phone in the end.
Its not unlike T-Mobiles new update anytime or AT&T's new deal - pay the whole price upfront and never have a contract, or effectively (with AT&T) finance the price of the phone over a year's worth of payments.  No matter how you slice it, you still end up, one way or another, paying essentially the full retail price of the phone.
(I particularly dislike T-Mobile's current ads - anyone with any carrier could always upgrade "whenever they want" as long as they paid rull retail price for the handset - nothing at all new with T-Mobile's latest "deal").

  • Is there a workaround for wsdl with multi-part porttype with ESB?

I am trying to implement a simple connection to a service with ESB, and have been successful in trials with several other products, but when I try to use the SOA adapter with ESB I get the following message.
"The selected porttype is using a message that is invalid for ESB because it is multi-part or has a simple type. The message getTransactionsByRegistrationIdRequest in operation getTransactionsByRegistrationIdRequest of prottype QueryTransactionsWebService is invalid. Please select another porttype of fix the wsdl."
Is there a work around for this?
We would like to use ESB since we are licensed, but continue to have problems.
    Any help would be appreciated.

This works out of box in 11 but as a 10.1.3 workaround, You can write a java web service to proxy the multipart service and expose a regular doc literal service wsdl to ESB. This shouldn't be too much work for an experienced java/web service programmer. We are going to enable multipart for a pass through (no filters or xsl) service in 10.1.3.4. Let me know what path you choose.

  • Is there a template for integrating with Twilio?

Is there a template that can be purchased for easily integrating with Twilio?

Unlike wordpress templates, BC templates don't touch the server, there is no serverside code included in a template that could interface with the REST or XML interfaces of Twilio.
With that said, you can build a middle man server that talks to both BC's API and Twilio's and get it all done. You would have to build it yourself or hire someone to build it for you (raises hand), price would depend on what you wanted to do.

  • How much interest is there in tools for working with Microchip PIC's

    and other MCU's on Arch?
Just thought I would ask, as if there is much interest, and I note that there must be some, we could form a group to ensure packages and support is there.

Parallel and serial ports are a rare sight these days so I guess the best route is to go usb. There are usb to serial converters but I don't know how well that will work.
Using usb can be troublesome, starting something from scratch is not easy, or you borrow some code to write the code to put in the bridge ucontroller and the code to write a driver or it will take ages to complete.
Also programming the first versions of the bridge software into the bridge ucontroller can prove to be tricky if you have to rely on home made programmers. Programming more recent chips with the serial or parallel port is tricky (maybe the parallel port can do a bit better here).
There is also the issue of building the pcb for the programmer board, powerful and feature rich chips come only in packaging with smd pin spacing or smaller, this makes assembly at home very difficult, I'm not even considering making the pcb at home, anything with a packaging smaller than dip and you already start to have problems.
Debugging the hardware at home is not trivial either, voltages can be easily measured with a voltmeter but checking things like signal timing and synchronization between signals requires and oscilloscope, sometimes you only realize that you need to rewrite or tweak some piece of code after you see the signals with an oscilloscope.
Also it's not fun to reinvent the wheel just for the sake of doing it, there must be already some work done out there that can probably be improved and expanded.
To summarize, using serial/parallel/usb to serial converter may make things easier to program on both ends (pc and brigde code), usb has the potential to be faster, more flexible and more future proof but will make things a lot harder to do. The prototype programmer board must be easy to build if you want to get the parts and assemble it yourself.
