Is there a download to upgrade from Mac OS X to OS 10.2.8?
Hi - I know this might not be the right forum, (sorry...), but don't see what forum might be right so taking my chances here
I'm running OS X, (10.0), and need to upgrade to 10.2.8...is there a download or series of downloads for this upgrade?
thanks
N.
Hi, nln -
Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
No, there is no download available to make that jump. You will need to acquire a copy of the retail package for OSX 10.2 (Jaguar), and make the install from it. Note - there is no point in doing any earlier base version of OSX than the one at which you want to be.
One of the sites that carries the OSX 10.2 retail package is -
http://store.yahoo.com/hardcoremac/index.html
<hr>
The proper forum for your question would have been the Mac OS X v10.3 Panther & Earlier forum; you can access its category page here -
http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=161
You would need to select an appropriate forum from the list in the upper section on that page before you can post a Topic.

Hi what is the next system that I should upgrade from Mac OS X 10.6.8? And, should I backup before downloading it?
You should backup before installing any new system updates or upgrades. Depending upon what your machine is qualified for you could upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
fees may apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
terms apply.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

Upgrade from Mac OS X 10.9.5 to 10.10 only
Hi,
I want to upgrade from Mac OS X 10.9.5 to 10.10 only.
Is there a way of doing this without upgrading directly 10.10.2?
Thanks for your help.Unfortunatley no, You can only upgrade the latest release from apple. If you want 10.10.x versions for the future you will want to download them and keep them on an external drive.

Need to know if there a Mac OS Xv 10.0.5 or anything that will upgrade from Mac OS Xv 10.0.4.
How can I keep Mac OS 9 & upgrade Mac OS X?
Please let me know?
Please tell me as soon as you done reading this post.
Thank You!Mac OS X 10.0.4 was the last update for the 10.0 (Cheetah) release. There was a free update to 10.1 (Puma), but that was distributed via CD at the time, for the "early adopters" who bravely installed Mac OS X 10.0, and that can get you up to 10.1.5 with additional downloadable updaters. But I do not think the 10.1 update it is available as a free download, so you cannot go beyond 10.0.4 without obtaining a Mac OS X installer disk for a higher release.
How can I keep Mac OS 9 & upgrade Mac OS X?
Unless you intentionally select the "erase and install" option in the Mac OS X installer, your previous data (including a Mac OS 9 installation) should be retained on the drive. -
I Have downloaded the upgrade from Mountain Lion to Yosemite. In thee process of so doing I have lost access to iTunes.
The app on desktop no longer opens the program and having downloaded and installed as per Apple instructions, can not make a connection.Hi, drjbuchanan.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

How do I upgrade from Mac OS X 10.6.8 to OS X 10.7 or higher?
What do I have to do upgrade from Mac OS X 10.6.8 to Mac OS X 10.7 or higher? What is the procedure?
Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

First check to be sure your hardware meets the hardware requirements for Lion.
Backup your data. I suggest a bootable clone as the way to go.
Then open App Store and purchase and download the Lion installer.
Then install Lion.
