Is there a driver for the thunderbolt ethernet adapter on a 2010 Macbook Air?

The thunderbolt ethernet adapter is not being recognized on my 2010 Macbook Air running 10.6.8. Is there a driver for it?

That's because there's no thunderbolt port on the 2010 MBair.  You need to buy the USB ethernet adapter.

in my new macbook pro retina I've a problem on window 7 64bit (bootcamp 4.0). the OS doesn't recognize the thunderbolt-ethernet adapter..

The thunderbolt ethernet adapter works without issue on my rMBP with Windows 7. Did you download and install the Windows Support software? Did you refer to the Windows help regarding networking? Did you try a different adapter? What happens when you try to use Ethernet networking?

  • Is there a driver for the PXI-8310 that works with Windows 7?

The only one I can seem to find is for XP.

    Hello LouisTI,
Unfortunately there is not a Windows 7 driver for the PXI-Cardbus8310, as this is a legacy device which is currently going EOL (End of Life). The XP driver for the 8310 (which you may already have found) can be downloaded here:
    http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/370/lang/en
If using Win 7 is critical, we recommend the PXI-ExpressCard 8360 as a replacement for the 8310:

  • How can I specify a default directory on my external drive, for iPhone photos to be imported to on Macbook Air?

I use both a PC as well as my Macbook Air and when I sync my iPhone with my PC (I connect the phone to PC) my phone (or is it my computer)? knows to import my photos and videos to a specific directory/folder on my external hard drive (I am able to tell my PC which folder to import my photos and videos to). For example, it imports all photos and videos to the external drive and organises the photos and videos by date (it creates a separate folder for each date the photos/videos were taken; I had to tell my PC to import to the default directory (external drive) when I did this for the first time, and it now creates a new folder for each date which is useful for keeping photos organised, etc.
I'd like to be able to do the same thing, using my Macbook Air, i.e., when I connect my iPhone to the Macbook air, I want my Macbook Air to know to import my photos to my external hard drive; is this possible? I am not familiar with the photo programmes on the Macbook air, but to be honest, I don't want to use them for this; I just want my photos and videos on my iPhone to import to the same folder when I use my Macbook air to sync, as when I use my PC to sync  (I use my PC at work and have my Macbook at home). I'd like to be able to sync my phone when at home and not have to wait till I get to work, etc.
Many thanks for any help you can provide...

Yes there are many, but the question is why won't the new folder create on the drive?
    What format is it?

  • Does the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter work with a MacBook Air that's been updated to Lion?

I saw a comment at the online Apple store that the USB Ethernet Adapter didn't work with Lion. Anyone else have experience with the adapter?

Just point the tech rep to the apple website that lists the Ethernet to USB system requirements as:
    "Overview
The Apple USB Ethernet Adapter is a simple, one-piece external adapter that plugs into the USB 2.0 port of your MacBook Air to provide 10/100BASE-T performance. Simply plug your Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 connector — no external power is required. It’s small, light, easy to install, and even easier to use.

  • Is there a driver for the apple genuine dvi to composite adapter to make it work on Maverick OS?

Im having a problem with a few parts to it but the main problem is my Apple Genuine DVI to Composite is no being recognized correctly. & not allowing me to mirror or multiple screen or anything. It wont even broadcast a signal to the secondary screen or anything. This all started when I upgraded to Maverick OS. I'm pretty sure apple has a driver for this problem. Can anybody point me to where I can find it?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there djshotgunn,
There is not a specific driver that you would need to download outside of Software Update. I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps in the article below if you are experiencing video issues with an external monitor.
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
Many common display issues can be resolved easily by making sure the software on your Apple computer and the firmware on your video adapter, display and Thunderbolt cabling is up to date. Check for updates for Apple products by using Software Update, the Mac App Store, or visiting Apple downloads. Check with the manufacturer for any updates that may be available for displays, extenders, or adapters not made by Apple.

  • Is there a driver for the HP W2371d for osx 10.7.5?

Is there any way I can use the HP W2371d monitor on my MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.5?

On first reading, I thought you needed a driver for an HP Printer.
The Mac does not use special Drivers for ANY display. It uses one Driver that is heavily parameterized.
Your display must be connected properly and include the pins for the Data Side Channel. At Startup, the Mac sends a query to the Display asking "what is your name and what are your capabilities?" Driver parameters are adjusted automatically in response to that query -- no additional downloads are needed or are useful.
    The proper procedure is:
    Plug it in.
if your Mac does not immediately recognize it, use the (Detect displays) button.
If it does not work post back with your exact model of MacBook, what version of Mac OSX[ 10.7.5], what display card you are using if you have separate display cards, what port you are attempting to connect {Mini DVI,  DVI, Mini DisplayPort/ThunderBolt} , and what cables and adapters you are using.

  • A drive for the Thunderbolt connection ?

Hi ...  Is there a hard drive actually in the market that can take advantage of the Thunderbolt connection speed of my iMac Intel 27" (late 2013) ?

    Hello Old Toad,
I have been reading and seaching around for a while for Thunderbolt for the rest of us.  So to reply to your suggestion of Googleling the web before asking, I have been doing that for many hours.  The reason why I posted this thread is that information on this topic has been pretty confusing even for a 30 year Mac addict.  Please excuse inadequate terminology ... and imprecise information.  As for the point I am tryning to make, I am pretty sure that I am right.  If it's incorrect, please explain what I am confused about.
When reading about Thunderbolt and SSD, a newby must be pretty mixed up.  Thunderbolt is a great feature until you understand that it's speed (theoretically of 1000MBps) is limited by 2 bottle necks:  the drive's and the enclosure speed.  You can have any Thunderbolt enclosure if it is connected through a USB 3.0 interface or if it's own speed is 100MBps, Thunderbolt is nothing to be screaming about.  More, I can say that there is actually any real world external drive that can deliver at Thunderbolt or SSD speed ... at least for a respectful price for the average user.  Even with a SSD drive delivering at 600MBps, the bottle neck is the enclosure's interface that is normally at USB 3.0 speed.  The only drive, and it is internal, that seems to be delivering outstanding speed is Apple's SSD drive connected to the PCI express interface running at 1000MBps.
So after reading, I was pretty mixed up and also amazed that guy's out there were selling the Thunderbolt dream when even with a SSD drive installed it is limited by the USB 3 output interface.  I found on the web Buffalo selling it's Thunderbolt Ministation with a SATA 1 drive running at 150MBps pretty far from the Thunderbolt pretended 1,25GBps.  I also found La Cie selling their Rugged USB 3 Thunderbolt drive promissing 385MBps with a 5400rpm drive ???  G-Force is also offering G-Force Mobile at 136MBps.
Oyen Digital confirmed that as of now any of their USB 3.0 or SSD drive does not work at speeds exceeding 400MBps, meaning that USB 3.0 drive delivers speed equaling Thunderbolt drive.  Even Phil0124's suggestion is running at 136MBps speed ...
So the real thing would be to have a real Thunderbolt interface speaking to the computer's Thunderbolt interface.  Then we would have real Thunderbolt speed. So more than ever, I think this thread is pertinent.  I would appreciate be told wrong and to benefit from anyone's experience on this topic.
If you have found a great Thunderbolt drive (running at more than USB 3.0 speed) at a convenient and affordable price ...  please help us.
    Best regards.

  • Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter not connecting on MacBook Pro Retina

I recently purchased the Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapter to connect to my 13in MacBook Pro Retina Late 2012 (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) to a hardwired internet connection for faster downloads. However, when I connect the ethernet cord to the adapter nothing happens and only the wifi connection is identified.
Ethernet or Thunderbolt Ethernet are not an option in the System Preference > Network. Also, either connection are options when trying to add a network interface ( System Preferences > Network > + > Interface).
I have tried several fixes like Resetting PRAM or Removing Network Preferences File. The NetworkInferences.plist and Preferences.plist files did get recreated after reboot, but only the WIFI interface shows up.

    http://rohanradio.com/blog/2012/02/27/fixing-thunderbolt-ethernet-on-the-macbook -pro/
I am sure the Thunderbolt ports are functional since I am able to connect my display using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Could I have corrupted the Network Preference File or is could the Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapter damaged?
    Please help.

I had this problem, too, and an Apple Support call and Genius Bar visit later, I had the answer: if you're using Network Locations that preexist your Thunderbolt display, it doesn't seem to auto-add the possibility of "Display Ethernet" to your available network ports. To solve this, either:
Create a new Location in your Network system preferences. It will finally detect the "Display Ethernet" and use it. It'll slowly change from disconnected to No IP to green-is-for-go.
    or
Fix an existing Location by clicking the + to add a port and choosing Display Ethernet. It'll slowly change from disconnected to No IP to green-is-for-go.

  • Is there a workaround for installing Windows 8 on a Mid-2010 Macbook?

    Hi there!
I've been digging and digging and digging trying to find a work-around for this issue I'm having. I bought Windows 8 without first checking to see if my Macbook would be compatible with running both OSX and Windows 8... Stupid move #1 because it's not supported in the mid-2010 Macbooks.
I have found a couple slightly outdated threads about how you can edit your plist file in the Boot Camp contents folder but every time I have tried this, Bootcamp crashes. Fortunately for me I kept a backup of the plist file so Bootcamp is in fact still working at this point but I obviously can't install Windows 8 still. (Ignore my last comment in the thread, I fixed it)
I have expanded my Macbook to a 1TB H-SSD and it has 8GB of RAM. I SHOULD be able to run Windows 8 and I'm pretty upset that I can't at this point.
Here is the previous thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5164969 (Ignore my last comment in the thread, I fixed it)
I'm thinking I can probably still get around my issue by using the plist file I just don't know anything about how that kind of stuff works.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

You could look into the specs required to use Parallels or other
virtualization VMware Fusion to see what they require to work.
They too may be unable to support Windows 8.x version if the
hardware in the computer is not capable of running it. So the
answer may be to look for an older Windows, due to hardware.

    •Apple - Support - BootCamp:
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Not sure if some tweak to BootCamp is the answer to hardware.
A change to a preference file (plist) may not be an answer there.
    There may be a way in Terminal to modify how some things work;
but that is a topic outside a basic MacBooks/BootCamp discussion.
You may look into the BootCamp topics to see if someone has a
    similar inquiry posted there.
    Good luck & happy computing!
