Is there a feature in Acrobat XI  = free text field and text is visible if form printed?

I am trying to develop a fillable form (not web based) that would allow the user to free text in some fields.  I do see the multiple text option. However, ideally I would like the text and all lines of the text to scroll and be visibile on line and also when printed.
Does this feature exist in Adobe Acrobat XI Forms Central?   Additionally I do not want to collect data.
Thanks!

To achieve what you want (multiple line text fiels which scroll on the screen but expand when printed to show the whole text) you would need to use LiveCycle Designer and create a dynamic form. This is more of a power user tool. You can get more information here : http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/tools/designer.html
This used to come in the box with Acrobat. If you upgraded to Acrobat XI you might want to have a look at this page

Can i use iphone to iphone for free international calls and text messages?

If both iPhone users are on iMessage, texting will be free, though there may be data charges if you do not have Wi-Fi. You can use FaceTime Audio in iOS 7 and later to call people but regular phone calls still count against your phone plan.

  • Cannot get acrobat to autodetect text fields and check boxes

I am attempting to take an existing pdf document (life insurance application) and turn it into a fillable form that I can use interactively to complete and sign on screen instead of having to print and fill out by hand.  The document has multiple pages including one page 18 that already has fields in it.  The rest of the document does not have fields in it.  When I attempt to create a form, it does not detect any of the other fields before page 18.  It does detect fields after page 18 where the previously fields were already in the original document.  What can I do to get Acrobat to detect the fields needed in the first 17 pages of the document and automatically insert them?  This is the reason I'm purchasing the software, for the automation of field insertion.  If it doesn't do that, there's many other software options that I can build a form in and insert the fields one at a time manually.  I don't want to do that because of the volume of documents I am going to be working with.  I can email the original document if that will help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Josh

    - You can't run the Fields Detection Wizard on a file that already has
    fields in it.
    - The reasons why the Wizard does or does not recognize a field, and what
type of field, are not made public by Adobe. So basically if it works,
great, if not, then you're out of luck...
At any rate, be prepared to do some manual adjusting after running it
because even when it works it often creates unwanted fields, fails to
create wanted fields or creates fields with the wrong type (text boxes
instead of check-boxes is a common problem).

  • Double Clicking a Text Field and there is data in it

    Hello,
When I double click in a text field there is data (my name) there that the form remembers from a previous use. I am ready to publish and distribute my form but I don't want the old data to be there. How do I delete it?
    Thank you.

You may have the auto-complete option on in Acrobat. In Acrobat, click "preferences..." under the Edit menu. Choose "forms" from the category list and check out the auto-complete settings.

  • I have made a book of my I Photo pictures. In certain layouts there is a textframe. How can I avoid the frame becoming visible in the print if I don't want to write anything? Should I just leave it or should I delete the text "Write your text here" ?

I have made a book of my iPhoto pictures. In certain layouts there is a text frame. How can I avoid the frame becoming visible in the print if I don't want to write anything?  Should I just leave it untouched or should I delete the instructing text "Write your text here"?

Most pages have layouts for pictures only or pictures with text boxes. Either select the same layout for that page but the one without the text box or put a space in the text box.
Putting a space in the text box will avoid getting the warning when ordering that there's an unfilled text box in the book. The box will not be visible in the final product.  You can and should check the book before ordering by previewing it as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it

  • HT5392 How can I use an Action List to re-order my layers in iAd Producer?  It looks like there's a tool for this, but I can't figure out how to use it.  I want to use a button to switch between a text field and a drawing pad layer.

I am working on an iBooks Author Widget and want to allow the user to switch between drawing-pad functions and a text field on screen.  I'd like to create an action that will automatically re-order the layers so that the text field is accessible when typing but covered when writing by hand.  Then, I'd like the opposite to be available, so that the text field is accessible when typing, but the drawing pad is left alone.

Have you tried using the selections in the Encore menu viewer that show you selected and activated states?

  • Is there a way for a form user to load graphics and text in same field?

I am aware that you can load text into a text field and graphics into an image field.  However, I would like to load a document containing text and graphics (e.g., MS Word or RTF) into a single field on a PDF form.  Is there any way to do this?

    Paul,
I believe that the example of attaching a file that you have provided will solve the problem.  I am using LiveCycle Designer, so using the code that is in your example should be no problem.  The end-user will use Adobe Reader, so as you mentioned, I will use Acrobat to extend the features so that the form can be used by Reader.
Thanks so much for your help,
    Daniel

It is part of the PDF AcroForm side of things .....Are you using Reader or Acrobat to fill the form. If Reader then you will have to Reader Extend to make this work ....if Acrobat then you simply need to add some code. I have attached a sample that shows you how to do it if you want it.

  • Is there a way to link text fields, so when you reach the end of one line it moves to the next?

I often use Acrobat Pro to create forms, whether it be from an existing document or from scratch, and this has always irritated me.  I know you can create a text field and select the Multi-line option; however, this is not what I am looking to do.  I have a form that has a Yes or No Radio Button, then below it says "If yes, please explain:" followed by 3 lines to respond.  When I run it through the Form Creator, it places three text fields on the response lines - as it should.  The first line is shorter because of the text, which is why I cannot use the Multi-line option.  So is there a way to link these three text fields, so that when I reach the end of the first line it stops and automatically moves to the next?
Here is a picture of what I am looking at:

These types of lines are a left-over from printed forms. There's no reason
to keep using them if your form is digital.
The best approach is to combine the fields to a single multiline field, and
get rid of the first line. Trying to link text fields together is very
tricky. I haven't yet to see it done properly.

  • Script needed to print complete contents in scrolling text field Acrobat Pro 9 (MAC)

I've seen this question several times in my search but no real solution. My client wants a form with text fields that only show 1-2 lines when viewed on-screen but are scrollable so that the user can input a lot of text. I had no problem creating that. The problem occurs when I try to print the form. Only the visible lines of text print and not the entire contents of the field.
Is there a Javascript that I can assign to a Print button in my form that can be assigned to the Mouse Down action that will make the entire field contents print? I even recreated the form in WORD so that when the user inputs text into the field, the contents of the form move down the page. My client didn't like that approach. I'm not a programmer and so I haven't been able to write my own script to handle the printing issue. I'm MAC based so using Livecycle isn't an option for me. Thanks!

I'm using Acrobat Professional 9. I used to use Livecycle which was more flexible, but I no longer have a PC, only MAC and Adobe doesn't make Livecycle for the MAC.
The client doesn't want larger fields unfortunately. They have questions that require 2 or 3 pages of information to be entered into a small text field but they don't want large fields. If they're reviewing the answers online, it's fine - they can just scroll through the text fields and read the answers but they don't want the completed text fields to expand unless the form is printed.
I've already set up my text fields to be multi-line and scrollable so that the client can review all of the text in the field if they are looking at the saved PDF online. The problem I'm having is that I need the entire contents of the text field to be visible ONLY when printed out. They don't want larger fields to show in the form. The client was quite specific about it. The form is also going to be used infrequently, so collecting the data and storing it on a server isn't something they're particularly interested in. The information is also confidential, so they do not want me to be collecting and storing the data and sending it back to them in another format. The easiest option I could see was to create a script tied to a PRINT button that printed out the complete text field.
    Thanks!

  • Is there a way to print the check register with the Text field

    Hi,
Is there a way to print the check register with the Text field and also each item's Text field?"
When we enter a invoice we enter a generic text on the Basic Data tab then enter a "+" on each individual line item which in turns defaults to the generic text. Just wanted to know if the check register could draw in the individual line item detail where we can enter text that relates to just that line item. Sort of like the MIR7 draws in the detail for each item.
Kindly help me in full fill the above requirement.
    Thanks

  • InfoPath form, rich text fields, "There was a form postback error" InvalidOperationException, There has been an error while processing the form

Using InfoPath 2013 browser enabled form.
I am getting the above error on ALL Infopath Designed Rich Text fields, where the "Cannot be blank" attribute is set.
To reproduce it, I create a custom list and custom list form with InfoPath 2013. I add 2 Rich Text fields and enable "cannot be blank". To raise the error, I put some data in the RT field. Skip to another field (so focus is changed and a postback
occurs), then back to original field to delete the contents (to raise the validation).
I originally thought it was associated with the HTMLCHKR.DLL not being registered (and I have re-registered it just in case), but the exception I get from the ULS logs reads (it is from a list AFTER I have re-registered the DLL):
    There was a form postback error. (User: 0#.w|myDomain\jc, Form Name: Template, IP: , Request: h t t p ://MyWebApp/MySite/Lists/rtAfterHtmlCHkrReg/Item/newifs.aspx?List=2212ff41-77b4-445b-931b-d7e538c9da91&Source=h t t p://MyWebApp/MySite/Lists/rtAfterHtmlCHkrReg/AllItems.aspx&RootFolder=&Web=3db49106-bdca-47bb-b4cd-a549d2d86aa7,
Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:list:-AutoGen-2015-01-16T21:51:48:853Z, Type: InvalidOperationException, Exception Message: No content generated as the result of the operation.) 8cc5e09c-3665-903b-575a-faaac506c40a
I noticed that errors associated with the HTMLCHKR.DLL not being registered would have some sort of COM exception (example: TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED or REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)
I also should mention that this problem started happening about 3 weeks ago. We have extended the web application to handle HTTPS on the intranet zone (we had a reverse proxy project that did not eventuate) - would that cause something? How can I do further
    checking?

    Hi,
I have done a test in my SharePoint, and I met the same issue with you.
I created a custom list and custom list form with InfoPath 2013. I added 2 Rich Text fields and enabled "cannot be blank".  I put some content in the RT field, then delete the contents, I got the error message:"there has been an
    error while processing the form."
Here is a similar post said that executing the command: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\
    OFFICE14\htmlchkr.dll" will solve the issue.
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/eb2e0f6e-c8e4-4e92-ac5e-a09d72759eda/rich-text-field-error-in-webform?forum=sharepointcustomizationprevious
But I just disabled "cannot be blank", and it solved the issue.

  • Just finished update. While in the Tips, why did it tell me I have an old version? Hey there! Looks like you're using an old version of Firefox. Don't miss out on the latest technology & security features. Get the free upgrade in less than a minute.

The top of the screen has an owl like icon & then the following message:
Hey there! Looks like you’re using an old version of Firefox.

Dear Colbabomb; thankyou for your links.
So far, I looked at your first solution, Revo Uninstaller and it gives you a 30 free trial. Ergo, it will eventually cost money so I'm leery of using those kinds of programs in general, meaning most "free trials" have unwanted strings attached and often are big probs to get rid of later. Perhaps you can assure me that it is easy and very user friendly, before I proceed. And I already ran malwarebytes and it found nothing tho the program still can't be uninstalled. I downloaded Adw Cleaner and during the install, my Norton's security popped up and warned that there were (low risk) threats with two of their "other offers" and i hadn't even actually clicked to agree either of them. Nonetheless, Norton warned me against the "lyrics finder" and "deal ply." In fact, there was a box already with an x in it, saying that you are accepting deal ply if you x on "next." Well, except I unchecked that box before clicking on next, yet when it went to fully install, it still showed that it was adding itself; so, just before the install was 100% completed, I had to abort the whole thing. I really do hope your other suggestions are programs that you personally know that they don't try and trick you. But right now, I would not suggest Adw Cleaner to anyone. I even read the fine print about what they will try and install and how to decline and it still tried sticking stuff on that i believed I had declined. Anyways, i have to leave now, shall pick up later this evening, if my pc is still functioning.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Extended features in Abobe Reader and users can't resave form

    Hi all,
I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 in order to be able to convert existing Word docs into "type-able" PDF forms. After sending one of the forms to a coworker, we discovered a big issue. She was able to input data and save the form - once. She is unable to edit any of the data she saved or add to any of the fields she didn't fill out. (FYI, she is using Adobe Reader 8)
When I view the security settings for the form Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 it states "filling of form fields - allowed". When you initially open the form in Reader it states the same. If you input data and save the form, and then reopen it, a popup message appears:
This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.
Additionally, the security now states "filling of form fields - NOT allowed". Users completing these forms won't always have all of the data they need at their disposal, so the form is quite simply useless if you can only enter and save it once. We can't even save it with a different file name.
Is there anything I can do so that users who are viewing / adding to the forms I create can go back to edit form fields after they've saved the form?
    Thank you,
    Colleen Caldwell

    Same thing happened to me.
A form that used to work fine, wont let me input any data anymore.
I just received the following message:
"This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
I reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader again, deleted temporary files, restart the computer and even downloaded again the form, which I saved with different name and continues saying same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I have developed a fillable pdf in Adobe Acrobat Professional X but when I try to use the Airprint feature the form print minus the field data, have anyone been able to resolve this issue?

    Hi,
I had a similar problem and found help for it. Go to the "Advanced" menu and select Extend features in Adobe Reader. That will enable rights which may resolve your problem. If that doesn't work, there is a really helpful guy in here, Robert Levine. You may want to ask him directly.
    Good Luck
