Is there a file browser which can play DVD contents from Time Capsule?

Using File Manager (free Zheng) app I can reach all my files on the Time Capsule (3TB) from my iPad Air2 (64GB). Also I am able to play video content MP4. So far so good.
However I have also several DVD VOB files of homevideo. These I can play on my iMac using DVD player or VLC.
Is there a way to play the DVD content just as easy as the MP4 files do on my iPad? Most file browser do not support this.
I have read a solution to perform it via a server via my iMac. However this is not to my liking.
Should it be possible to re-direct a file URL to lets say VLC player like Stratospherix filebrowser can do?
Is there a good file browser which can play VOB DVD contents?
Can anybody help me before buying several apps and perform the trial and error method ?

I'd recommend File Explorer (orange icon on the iOS app store) - find your NAS with it and try and play your media. It has a video decoder built in so should be able to handle your MP4s. If not, Plex is very good - but would require £2.99 and your Mac to be on when you wanted to watch on your iPad. Let me know how you get on.

can I play music accessed from time capsule so that I don't have to use up room on my computer?

If you want to move your itunes library to the TC we recommend you don't.. the TC is designed as a backup target for Time Machine.. it might appear vaguely like a NAS but it has zero ability to backup files.. and fails with surprising frequency. and is slow.. and what happens when you corrupt your itunes library.
If you just want to put individual files and play from there.. well neither is it a media player. Basically TC fails at anything and everything except being a TM backup target.

  • Playing DVD content from HD

    hey folks!
i have a question about playing DVD content from a hard disk. for an information kiosk system i have to create a menu and import from several dvds via mpeg streamclip.
the video content is about 14gigs. now i am not sure if dvd studio pro is capable of handling this amount of data. because it's build for making DVDs there could be problems if one exceeds the typical 9gig barrier?
the end result should be a video_ts folder that is played from a mini-pc…
thanks in advance for your help!

In any case the editing should go faster with
the new computer which I ordered with 4GB RAM and two
    500GB hard drives. Good luck.
Larry, Don't count on your editing going too much faster. I also have a MAC PRO Quad Core 2.66 with 3 gigs of ram and FCE still runs the same as it would on an imac. I hope someone can prove me wrong. I hope I am doing something wrong. You would think that by adding more power to your system it would have better NLE performance but for me that has not been the case. By that I mean it should do simple things like adding shadows and basic 3D movment without having to render the clips every little change you make. PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG... I Have Spent allot of money.. as we all have. Steve

  • Does Time Capsule back up everything on my computer? If I inadvertently delete photos from iPhoto can they be retrieved from Time Capsule?

Does Time Capsule back up everything on my computer? If I inadvertently delete photos from iPhoto can they be retrieved from Time Capsule?

About TM "Backup Drive is Full"
Alert TM only deletes older files if they have been deleted from the source and when TM needs space on the backup drive for a new incremental backup. Time Machine "thins" it's backups; hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first of the day; those "daily" backups over 30 days old, except the first of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there's room.
So, how long a backup file remains depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming you do at least one backup per day. If it was there for at least 24 hours, it will be kept for at least a month. If it was there for at least a week, it will be kept as long as there's room.
Note, that on a Time Capsule the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but doesn't shrink. Thus, from the user's view of the TC it appears that no space has been freed, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.
Once TM has found it cannot free up enough space for a new backup it reports the disk is full. You can either erase the backup drive and start your backups anew or replace the drive with a larger drive.

  • Lost the contents of Bookmarks Menue, can i recover it from time capsule

    Mac OS 10.8.3/Safari 6.0.
items previously in my Bookmarks Menu are no longer lited. Can they be recovered from Time Capsule, If so please explain how? Thank you.

Triple-click the text on the line below to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Quit Safari. Disable Safari synchronization in iCloud, if applicable.
    Select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A folder window should open with a file named "Bookmarks.plist" selected. Restore the file from a backup that predates the unwanted changes. If you disabled sync, re-enable it and test.

Yes, probably can.. but it won't be fast. You are better storing programs locally and data remotely.

    Please Help!!
I deleted around 4000 contacts by mistake with a script deleting the annoying duplicates that come with cloud syncs.
I can't restore them from my time capsule, I have read other posts and they suggest to copy the contacts folder in a back up from my time machine, Time Machine volume -> Users ->Yued1 -> Library -> Application Support -> CONTACTS, coping the folder in to my desktop and deleting the one in my computer all with out internet connection so iCloud won't cause problems, export the contacts, connect to the internet and then once connected let iCloud do its thing and then import the exported contacts, it all sounds good but when I mount my time capsule volume I get the folder backups.backupdb>Yued's Macbook Pro>(The backup folder of the date I choose)>Macintosh HD>Users>yued1 but Inside yued1 there is no Library folder, I did the command in terminal to show all files and folders, terminal accepted it relaunched finder but still won't see library, the only folder in my time capsule with library, is inside Macintosh HD but doesn't have a contacts folder inside application support.

  • How can I restore photos from Time Capsule/Machine w/o getting lots of duplicates?

    Hi All,
I recently "lost" some photos and tried going into Time Capsule/Machine to restore them.  I went to applications, opened Time Machine, got the "Star Wars" like screen, scrolled to the appropriate date (I thought), clicked on that date, went to my user name, clicked on Pictures and then clicked on iPhoto Library.  It asked me if I wanted to create a copy called iPhoto Library2 and I said yes.
Next I clicked on restore and it began restoring my iPhoto Library from that day.  Unfortunately it created copy after copy after copy of each photo, hundreds!!  And it broke down each photo into faces. Again and again and again. Bottom line is that since I must have picked the wrong date my pics weren't there.
I decided to delete iPhoto Library 2 and there were some 130,000 items to delete.  Then it took about 24 hours to secure empty my trash.
So my question is how can I avoid this next time?  I really want to get these photos back but am afraid to try it again.
Thanks in advance for any advice!  They are of my 19 year old niece's visit to Australia so the pressure is on!
    Kindest regards,
    Becky

You might post this query on the iPhoto forum and perhaps someone there can provide an answer.
I tried this on my MBP and it seems that you have to restore the entire iPhoto Library.  What I did was put the current library in a separate folder on the desktop and then I restored the library from a prior date.  If you were to do that, you then could extract the desired photos and then delete the restored library.  Then place the current library back to the original location and import the desired photos.
Not tidy but it seems it will work.
    Ciao.

  • Can you pull photos from Time Capsules into iPhoto for editing?

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro and Time Capsule.  What I want to do is keep all of my old pictures on the Time Capsule but be able to have them readily available in iPhoto.  Is that possible?  Basically ave them apear in iPhoto like they are native but in reality they are residing only on the Time Capsule.

There is great danger in doing this due to the slow disk access time on the Time Capsule.
If there is any break in communications between the iPhoto application on your Mac and the iPhoto library on the Time Capsule, the library can become easily corrupted, rendering it useless.
Simply stated, I would never do this. Please post in the iPhoto support area to confirm with the iPhoto experts.
If you decide to try this anyway, make sure that your Mac is connected to the Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet cable. Do not use wireless.
You will also have to figure out a way to back up your iPhoto library that is on the Time Capsule to yet another hard drive.
A better plan to consider would be this:
Add a USB or FireWire hard drive and connect it directly to your Mac.
Move the iPhoto library to the hard drive.
Then, Time Machine will be able to back up both your Mac and the attached hard drive to the Time Capsule. So, you have "originals" on one drive and backups on another.

  • How can I remove backup from time capsule?

I have a new Imac and transferred my documents and settings via time capsule from my previous Imac to my new Imac.
I have removed my account and data etc from my first Imac and gave this one to my daughter.
When trying activate time capsule on my new Imac I can not make backups because there is not enough space.
Also I can not make the machine understand that the backup on the time capsule is from the data on this new Imac.
So my only option? Is to delete all the backups from my timecapsule and start new.
How do I delete the backups from my timecapsule?

If you want to completely erase the Time Capsule drive and start over.....
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
    Click the Disks icon
Click the Disks tab just below the icon
    Click Erase
The "Quick Erase" option will only take few moments

  • Can I access movies from time capsule in my smart tv?

That depends on your TV, if it has the ability to connect to a networked drive or not. Check the manual.

  • How can I delete .sparsebundle  from Time Capsule?

Hi, can anyone help me with my problem?
I want to delete backup of my iMac from TimeCapsule to create a fresh new one.
But it seems not so easy.
I've turned off TimeMachine on iMac and tried to delete sparsebundle from TimeCapsule via Finder. Result is infinite waiting for removal in Finder dialog window.
I've tried to select 'no backup disk' in TimeMachine preferences but got the same result.
All software and firmware are updated to latest versions.
I cannot erase the whole TimeCapsule drive as described in other posts here because I have a backup of my MacBook Pro on it and I need to keep it.
Thank you for any help and information.

    Thank you Bob.
Finally my old backup has been deleted.
It seems I was waiting not enough.
Anyway thanks for advice and care
Now I'm waiting for my new backup to create.
