Is there a fix for a Flash Player compatibility problem?.

My computer is a imac g4 1.25 Ghz 17 inch flat panel running OS X 10.4.11 and can no longer view anything on the internet that uses the newest version of flash player.  I have tried to upgrade to that version but it won't work on my computer. When I try to download it I get this message "Devices with powerpc processors are no longer supported." Is there a fix for this?

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
* Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
It works for me.

  • FOUND A FIX FOR ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 11.9.900.152

I have Windows 7, 64bit and Internet Explorer 11 installed.  I found the fix for Adobe Flash Player after 2 days of doing everything.  I thought that the fix should be something very easy and it was.  I spent 2 full days doing all kinds of ridiculous things, i.e. uninstalling, reinstalling, restore computer, deactiving XActive, reactivating, changing stuff under internet options, etc.  The problem was Internet Explorer 11 update caused Adobe Flash Player not to work or recognize the flash player, or installing a new router caused it not to work.  Websites kept displaying messages to download Adobe Flash Player when I already did.  There appeared to be a conflict where some videos played and other did not.  Youtube did not work anymore.  All the problems that other people posted under these forums happened to me.  I could not play the games I was playing before, etc.  Anyway, I am NOT a tech person and understand little and almost gave up when by accident I found the fix and EVERYTHING works without rebooting anything, uninstalling or reinstalling etc. as all the people in the forums posted.  Everything was so complicated!!
THE FIX:  Go to Goodgle Chrome browser.  If you don't have it, download it.  The Adobe Flash Player is included in this browser.  Anyway, at the very top RIGHT HAND SIDE there are lines in a square formation.  Click on that and go to SETTINGS.  Go to very bottom and click on SHOW ADVANCED SETTINGS.  SCROLL DOWN TO THE VERY BOTTOM and click on RESET BROWSER SETTINGS.  After I did that, EVERYTHING WORKED!!!!!!!!!!! Youtube worked, my game worked in BOTH GOOGLE CHROME AND INTERNET EXPLORER 11.  It was like a miracle and  a simple fix.
I hope I can save some people ALOT of aggravation and frustration.  Adobe should have this fix displayed PROMINENTLY EVERYWHERE if it is indeed this simple.  Let me know if this helps.  All I know is that I had the same issues as everyone else in the forums and now it is all fixed.  I have very limited knowledge, almost none.  It just seemed that something was blocking the videos from coming up.

Thanks Mike.  I'm not sure what I'm doing but I also re-downloaded the flash player and I got YouTube videos to play again.  I have IE11 that I tried to uninstall (it won't let me) so I had to use a restore point, so videos I noticed in yahoo.ca can't play but I read lots of people having issues with this.  But, by using a restore point, and re-downloading the flash player (a couple of time until it took), I got Youtube and my game back on IE11.  I plan to use Chrome Google though after this experience as everything works there

  • Is there a fix for the iTunes push notification problem with Dropbox on iPhone ios 7.0.4

After updating to IOS 7.0.4 iPhone (which I now regret), when I open the Dropbox App, I get a warning "Connect to iTunes to use Push Notifications". When I push OK, it pops up again, constantly, so I can't even close Dropbox. Is there a fix for this? I've uninstalled and re-instaled Dropbox and checked for updates, but nothing helps. Any ideas?

    Hello CraigNicholson
You would need to sync with iTunes to get that process to work for you. Check out the article below for more information on how to resolve that issue to get the proper token to use Push Notifications again.

  • Is there an alternative for adobe flash player that I can get on iPhone

I can't use adobe flash player in safari is there anything I can use that will work the same

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Flash Player Compatibility Problem

I am setting up my old G4 (OS 9.2.2) computer for my daughter to get online for games, etc. In order to view some of the websites, I need the latest version of Flash. We're using Internet Explorer 5.1 because I'm not sure if I can upgrade with this OS. According to the website, Flash 8 and 9 are not compatible with Mac classic operating systems. I also have a G5 and OS X. The installation disks that came with the G5 seem specific to the G5. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make the G4 work for our purposes. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi, boilerfan -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
Flash 7 is the last version that can be used in OS 9. If you need to use a later version, you will need to upgrade the G4 to OSX. In order to do that there are a few things to consider...
You will need to know the specific Apple designation for your G4. This Apple KBase article can help you identify it -
Article #58418 - Power Mac G4: How to Differentiate Between Models
    • Firmware. If the machine is a G4 (Digital Audio) or earlier model, it should have its firmware updated if that has not already been done. You can check its current firmware version easily - open Apple System Profiler, and on the tab System Profile scroll down to the section Production Information. Look at the info on the line labelled "Boot ROM version:" - if that states $0004.28f5, the firmware version is 4.2.8, which is current for those models; if that number is lower, then the firmware should be updated. You can download the 4.2.8 updater from here -
    Article #120068 - G4 Firmware Update 4.2.8
    • RAM. OSX requires more RAM as a minimum than does OS 9. OSX 10.3 and earlier require 128MB as a minimum; 256MB is a more realistic minimum. OSX 10.4 requires 256MB RAM as a minimum; 512MB is more realistic.
    • Hard drive space. A normal install of OSX 10.3 or 10.4 will need about 3GB of drive space. This can be reduced quite a lot by choosing to not install all language versions; you can instruct the installer to not install all language versions during the install process. In addition, OSX runs best when there is at least 5GB of free space for it to use (it uses this for its version of Virtual Memory, temporary files, and defragging on the fly).
    • Source. The OSX install disks from your G5 are not usable on the G4 - they are model-specific to the G5. You would need to acquire a retail package of OSX; the retail packages include a universal installer. If your G4 is a G4 (DA) or earlier model, it can use any version of OSX released to date. However, the later versions of OSX are more stable and run faster than the earlier ones do, so your choices would be either 10.3 (Panther) or OSX 10.4 (Tiger). Apple no longer sells Panther, but you can get Tiger from the Apple Store as well as from other sources.
Note - the version of Tiger sold by Apple is on DVD only. This requires that the machine it is to be installed on must have an optical drive which can boot to DVDs. Not all G4s have that. At one time Apple offered a disk swap, where the DVDs could be exchanged for CDs; this program has been discontinued. However, you can still get both Panther and Tiger on CDs from sources like -
    http://store.yahoo.com/hardcoremac/index.html
    EBay is another possibility.
Regardless of the source, be sure to get a retail disk set - the retail packages have a universal installer; model-specific disks do not.

  • Mac/Firefox/Adobe Flash Player compatability problems

Hi I have an old Mac OS 10.6.8 and just did an undate for Firefox.  Now I cannot play anything without receiving a notice thay update is needed.  I have attempted this multiple times.  All I can find on the web is that Adobe Flashplaer 11 is not compatable with anything more than OS 10.3.  I want it to work, I tried a different route  I changed my download options that you suggest.  I selected OS 10.6 and Adobe 11.  I redownloaded and it still does not work.  I just want to put it all back like it was before and I am now geeting the warning using Safari as well!  Please help.
    Thanks,
    Megan

Your operating system meets the minimum system requirements to run the latest version according to this document: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/tech-specs.html

  • Is there an alternative to adobe flash player for the iPad?

Is there an alternative to adobe flash player for the ipad2?

No - flash is not supported, and probably never will be (http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ and Adobe havn't created a version that works on iOS anyway).
Browsers such as Skyfire, iSwifter, and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but not all judging by the reviews. You might also find that some sites (especially news sites) have their own apps on the app store which let you get some of the content that you want.

  • I cannot load an app for Adobe Flash Player on my iPad.  It says not supported on this equipment.  Is that right?  If so, is there a recommended sub that will satisfy that requirement?  Some programs say "adobe flash player"

    What App? From where?
You can only get Apps from the App Store. nowhere else.  If you are trying to download form a website you cannot do it.
If you need Flash Support for websites, you can download a flash supporting browser from the App store.
    Examples are:
    Puffin
    https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/puffin-web-browser/id406239138?mt=8
    Photon
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photon-flash-player-for-ipad/id430200224?mt=8
There may be others in the store.

  • Is there a fix for maverick

Is there a fix for maverick?  I can't scroll or use the back/forward buttons.  Help!

Sorry!  Here is the report.  Greek to me.  When I started up in safe mode, the computer was super slow.  When I tried to type in PAGES nothing appeared on the page.  When I opened Safari, there were gray rolling waves across the screen for a little bit prior to opening.  iPhoto still wouldn't open.  I did download iPhoto Library Manager and got some of my photos back.  Not all of them.  Scroll still doesn't work anywhere, although at times you can see the darkened segment that is supposed to be there to show you where you click to scroll up or down.  If you try to click on it, it disappears so you can't actually scroll.  Thanks again for your help.
