Is there a fix for this aggravating application behavior?
In Mountain-Lion when a window is closed in any application its almost like the application disapears! You can see other apps that are running below it and you have to physically click on the app icon in the Dock to get the palets, and all the default app GUI to appear. For instance, when you close a music video in iTunes, the iTunes default GUI window does NOT reapear but another app below it is visiable and you either have to click on the Dock icon or some other annoying process to get the iTunes GUI to reappear. Same things happens in Photoshop, Illustrator and whatever else.
Is there a way to make the app behavior, in this regard, FIXED? It's agrevating to no end. Is there a fix? Please help. Thank you!

(to the OP) "B" closes the movie. "A" resizes the whole iTunes app window. Is that what is going on?
Red closes the iTunes window but does not quit iTunes. Yellow minimizes it.
In general, the green button enlarges a window to fill an entire screen, but the green button behaviour has been inconsistent among apps. Different apps implemented different functions for the green button; mostly those for which filling the screen makes little sense. The Calculator app, for instance, has no green button (it's greyed out).
Mountain Lion is making more use of full screen apps - click the circled icon:
Nearly all Apple apps now have a full screen mode as an option. You may prefer to run apps in full screen mode, or in the traditional "windowed" way. If you prefer the traditional look, you may really appreciate Mission Control and Spaces.
I don't know what MS Windows does.

Is your MacBook using Mac OS X 10.6.8 as indicated in your post? If so you will not be able to fully integrate with iCloud.
iCloud and Snow Leopard, by Roger Wilmut describes what iCloud options are available for Snow Leopard.
If you are using Lion, go to iCal>Preferences...>Accounts, and delete/re-add your iCloud CalDAV server. -

Looking up definitions on the screen using Apple Dictionary? What application? Using shift+command+4, capture what you are referring to, and then use the camera icon in this posting toolbar to include it in your response.

Yes, I do have iWork '09 and version 4.2 of Pages but it just crashes when I try to open it. "The error message I get says that it will not open because of a problem"....: The detailed error Application Specific Information reads:

1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
Press the "Delete All" button.
Install Adobe Flash Player.

The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
If it doesn’t quit, Force Quit it.
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select the application if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.
Application will quit.
Follow the prompts and install it.
Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.

If it's because you were using Office 2004, the eight year old version of Office that was written when Intel processors were not used in Macs, then there will be no fix. Lion dropped support for PowerPC applications, as has been widely reported since Lion's release last August.
You can upgrade Office 2004 to Office 2008 or Office 2011. You can use iWorks 2009 that can open Microsoft files. You can use a number of free applications that are also capable of working with Microsoft documents. You can go back to Snow Leopard, if you have a backup. Or, if you have an external drive or room to add a partition to your current drive, you can install Snow Leopard on it.
Search these forums for more information. If this is your issue, it's been posted and answered several times a day since August 2011. -

Why would there be a fix? YOU are having the problem. I'm not, no one I know is having the problem. No fix is needed.
Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Have you been through any, if not all of these troubleshooting steps yet? -

Title says it all. I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion, and can no longer use a finger swipe, whether one or 2 fingered, to move backwards an forwards between pages. I can still do so in Safari, but not in Firefox 5.01, my preferred browser, any longer. Doesn't matter if I try using one, two or more fingers

I use floating time zone with all of my iCal entries. But then the times of the entries do not print when printing month view. Is there a fix for this?

I recently upgraded the software on my iPad 2 to iOS8.02. Since upgrading the iPad is running slower and choppier, with several apps no longer working. In addition, it keeps knocking me off my cellular data and showing no service. Is there any fix for this, or can I downgrade the iOS back to 7?
I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums.

After upgrading to ios6 my iphone will not open .xls files in emails with the default viewer. Is there a fix for this? The same emailed .xls files still open on my ipad using ios5 while viewing email like they did on my iphone prior to upgrading. I have no special software like numbers or anything else installed on either device. Just using the default viewer provided by apple for viewing email.
The attachment is an .xls excel 97-2003 spreadsheet. I viewed the file in the email and did not edit it with any software. I can forward the file to anyone that is may want to check it out to see if they can help me. I was wondering if there was some way of forcing another ios6 install on my phone and maybe that would solve it.
Is there anyone out there that is viewing .xls files in email using ios6 w/o any other software installed like numbers or any other add ons? I am not upgrading my ipad from ios5 to ios6 so I can still continue to view the emails on my ipad. Is there an email viewer .xls plug-in that will be availablle in the next ios6 update?
