    Re: Flash player for Ipad

Folks, here's the sad truth, according to Engadget:
"After nearly 4 years of the iOS platform, Adobe is still having difficulty being able to get Flash Player on Apple’s mobile platform. Many sided with Adobe on this one a couple of years ago calling this exclusion unreasonable, but the latest failures for Android Honeycomb to deliver decent Flash performance justifies Apple's decision. Even the Frash hacks bogged down the 1st generation iPad and the PlayBook had problems bring Flash to their Blackberry Tablet."
Some months ago, before I really researched this issue, I was determined to "get around Steve Jobs obvious hidden personal and business greed agendas" and run Flash on a tablet. So I bought an ASUS Transformer Tablet just to be able to run flash (a $400 "app")! OK, just a wee bit over the top. But, I can now personally testify to the surprisingly disappointing performance of Flash on Android.
Based on that confirmation, and on numerous reports from those running Flash on jailbroken iPads, either Adobe has lost all of it top notch programmers to Google, Facebook, -- and likely even Apple! -- or it never has been serious about porting Flash to iOS (I suppose this could have been intentional, thinking that the absence of Flash would do serious harm to the platform once folks found out).
But whatever. I am finally over my Flash of "brilliance" and resigned to just skip over the web sites that require Flash, and wait till I am at my iMac or PC to do those that are really necessary. And, despite that the ASUS Tablet does technically run Flash, it does it so poorly that I preferred to use my Mac or PC.
I gave the minty new ASUS Tablet which is otherwise a nicely done, but still "work in progress" (unlike my Android phone) to my med school daughter. She loves it -- and now calls me all the time to talk, usually about how to get stuff to work on it (but any excuse to talk to her is good by me ;-).

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Help for Flash player that will not install

Flash player won't install on  Dell with Mozilla Firefox version 33.0 for Yahoo 1.32. It does not matter what I try or even if I delete all old flash player files, folders etc. The download goes as far as the black box where it should be installing and just freezes there. I have pretty much tried everything to get it t0 install, including your troubleshooter. I also checked on Firefox and there is no available plug in download for the flash player. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and that will still not work. I tried to download using just Internet Explore 11 and that wont work either. It saves the file and I can make it run, but it goes directly to the black box fr Adobe flash player installation and is blank and will not go any further. help please!!!

    Hi
I read your post about having difficulty downloading flash player 10 but that you also were able to fix the problem. I  use IE8 and my operating system is XP Professional SP3. I'm hoping that you can answer a question for me.
In the troubleshooting tip issued by Adobe one of the things to do was to check my sercuity program. I use Norton and currently Adobe Flash player isn't in the list of allowed programs under my internet settings. My question is, would it be ok to drop the executable file of the Flash Player that is currently on my desk top, drop it into the programs file? There is a folder with all of the other Adobe programs in it because then I could select and add to the allowed programs in my Norton.
I hope someone can answer this for me.
    thanks,
    Ellen

  • Flash Player stopped allowing full screen after update....

Some where arround 10.0 the flsh player on my XP and Vista computers stopped going to full screen when using the little square in the lower right corner of the viewing area... The screen switches to blank white screen while audio continues in the backround... hitting excape brings back the previous screen with the small movie viewing area in the middle of the computer screen.    I noticed some where around this time hovering over the square that used to switch to full screen no longer brought up the text telling what the square was supposed to do....ie switch to full screen for the movie...At first I thought this was a Hulu move to get me to purchase the movies... The same results were on YouTube as well and other sites... I noticed that for a time Internet Explirer was able to switch to full screen but Firefox was not... I found that an update of the flash player on IE caused the same loss of full screen as on Firefox... (switch to blank white screen..)  Chrome has the same result... Blank white sceen with audio in the background...A search of the forum messages seems to point out a problem that comes and goes as versions come and go... I have found google search results that should lead one to a site that would let you go back to a version that worked for me, but everything leads me to the site that will down load the latest version included the last version that indicated it was fixing my problem and may have for the other hardware and software combinations... but not for any of my computers with XP or Vista... If there was a paid version of Flash player that would allow me to expand the movie beyond the size of a post card, I would buy it... I found a telephone number that apparent linked to India or somewhere where they will support for money but the operator did not give me any confidence that he would do anything other than take the cash....If any one has a "fix" for this, I would sign up for the support, or buy the version or what ever Adobe wants me to do to fix my problem... My email is [email protected]  I know that complaining about "free software" is frowned upon, but when the use of the software is demanded by having Hulu and others work only with their software, I think some effort to make the software work can be expected....Should we take the position that if we have a version that works, don't allow any updates...

I haven't read the full text of your post, only "blank white screen on fullscreen".  If there are any other important info in the long text that follows, please let me know...
Most issues with fullscreen can be corrected by either
disabling Hardware Acceleration (Flash Player Settings)
or installing the latest available device drivers for the video card

  • How can I view the videos of adobe flash player that apple no longer support?

How can I view the videos from the internet and networking of adobe flash player that apple no longer support?

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Is there a Flash Player version for the IPAD?

Is there a Flash Player version compatible that will work on the IPAD?

no, and there never will be.
If you want flash content  you can look for browsers that support flash. I see iSwiffer, Photon and Skyfire recommended here.

  • Is there a flash player app for iPad ?

I'm trying to play some Facebook games on iPad and I need flash player to do it. Is there any kind of flash player I can get??

    Hi Flippers,
I have not seen a separate app as a Flash Player for the iPad or iPhone.
I hope by "other OS" you have another computer you can play your Flash games.
    See Steve's Thoughts on Flash
Maybe the folks that make the games (Zynga?) will work up apps for the iPad to play them directly?
