Is there a good book or tutorial about building a website in AS3?

I haven't seen any.

There's one book Flash Professional 8 Beyond the Basics that walks the reader through a step by step process of building a website using AS2.  I was just hoping someone had done the same thing for AS3.  It's not such a big deal really I have a couple of good AS3 books and I've seen some great tutorials at Lynda.com and other places.  I'm able to piece together simple sites as it is.  I wonder if someone has something like this in the works to come out soon, It seems like it's a niche waiting to be filled by a good writer.

if you know something .... please tell it to me

Here's a list of resources though they are not necessarily for beginners.  You might try going thru some of the tutorials at lynda.com also... they can start you off with basics on up to advanced topics for a reasonable monthly cost.

  • Good book or tutorial link for data socket

    hello,
can anyone pls suggest me any good book or tutorial link to study  data socket

Here is a link to the DataSocket overview.  This has a good description of what it is and would be a good beginning reference.

If you are looking for a more technical approach then here is a technical paper about ways that DataSocket can be integrated into a test and measurement system.

These should be a good starting point for you.  ThomasD also has posted some good resources that you could use to search for more specific questions about DataSocket.

  • Is there a good place to learn about migrating to a new mac

i am moving into a new 6 core from my dual 2.6 - i want to bring over about 50% of my apps - i am not really worried about other files as thats pretty straight forward and will allow me to do alot of new organizing. is there a good tutorial etc on the applications part of this process - or is it just follow the start up procedure and it gets you there.
    thanks for advice...
    Mr C

A new 6-core will boot to 64-bit kernel by default, which can be a little faster if ALL your extensions are 64-bit.
Don't bring your System Drive forward. Use the factory-installed System or re-install from the factory discs.
You should re-install all your Applications from their original Discs, and chase down all the current updates online.
Your new Mac has tremendous processing power. Consider setting up a System/Applications/Paging drive that has NO user files whatsoever on it (i.e, move your Home folders OFF the System Drive). This will give you faster performance by reducing competition System <-> User files.

  • Good book or tutorial

I'd like to really get to understand iCloud. Can someone recommend an excellent resource (book, Web site with tutorial, or some other source) to learn how to use iCloud to its fullest? Thanks!

I'm afraid the only news I have here is bad news. Basically, in my experience, there isn't much secondary documentation for j3d. The best source for answers to specific questions seems to be the java3d-interest mailing list. For more general stuff, if it isn't covered on http://www.j3d.org then your best bet is to experiment for yourself. A lot of topics are covered in tutorials on OpenGL and you can just use the principles and adapt the implementation details but this is still quite tricky in some cases.

  • I am trying to use IWeb and need a lot more information. Does anyone know where I can get a book on how to build a website on IWeb?

Has anyone built a web site using Ilife and specifically Iweb? If so, did you find a book on how to use it? I am pretty up on Photoshop Elements but this works very differently and I need HELP! Thanks!

Has anyone built a web site using Ilife and specifically Iweb?
No, no-one in this forum has ever used iWeb. Browse this forum and you'll see that nobody has even heard of the app.
Anyway, start by reading the iWeb Help. It's a great source of information to start with.
And here are some video tutorials by Apple :
         http://www.apple.com/findouthow/web/
And note that iWeb is not PhotoShop (Elements) v.v. So don't compare them.
And I'm sure that filling a blank page with content isn't very difficult to do.
Remember Kindergarten? Did you need a tutorial to use the crayons?
Here are some sample sites you can use as inspiration :
         http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/
Some were made in an afterrnoon. Think of a word, make it a theme and start filling the page.

  • Searching for a good book about [Arch Linux]

    Hello friends,
I'm here stuck with Windows 8, making a couple of tests about installing Arch Linux in VMware Workstation, if it succeeds, I'll move to Arch completely. My question is: Is there a good book about Arch (installation, maintenance, best practices, security, and so on)? I tried "Arch Linux Environment set-up How-To", but unfortunately, it wasn't what I expected.
    I'm a little confused about UEFI + GRUB2 + GPT/MBR but I think I'll dominate it soon...
    My system:
    [PROCESSOR] >> Intel® Core™ i7-3840QM (8M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz)
[GRAPHICS] >> Dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M GPU With 4GB GDDR5 Video Memory (SLi)
    [RAM] >> 16GB DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz
    [SSD] >> OCZ Vertex 4 (256GB)
[HDD] >> Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid (750GB)
I wonder in how many seconds the system will boot up...

@op  As others have mentioned, do not seek out knowledge from a book.  There has been quite a few shifts in Archlinux, specifically to uefi and systemd.  There are a few starters for your concern.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Un … _Interface
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/UEFI_Bootloaders
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide/Installation
Other then that, there is the forums and a quick search will land you on a goldmine of knowledge.  Great idea to start it up in a vmware, although it will not require the uefi boot, but it will still get you a bit more familiar with the install process and iron out some basic questions.  Good luck!

  • Need good book for ...

I'm looking for a good book that talks about the structure of a database at the filesystem level. Information about which files are used to do what. Many beginner books I see try to explain databases from the inside while many advanced books are over my head technically based on my current knowledge of databases. I'm not trying to build/design one, just manipulate, backup, maintain one that's already there.

This "books" are good and free http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/toc.htm

  • Any good books on web application using JSP/servlet?

Does anyone know good books on how-to build enterprise web application using JSP/servlet? Aside from the book "Head First JSP/Servlet". Development using Netbeans is more preferrable.

What about the free web server? JBoss or Glassfish or something else? I prefer web/application server that is fully compatible with JEE6 (unlike Tomcat that can't handle EJB). thanksI'm a JBoss user myself, so naturally I would advise that to you if I were ignorant. I'm not however, so in stead I'll tell you to investigate yourself and see which one you prefer. Nobody is going to tell you which one to use as there is no such thing as a 'better' or 'best' server. Just different servers each with different issues.
And the community edition of JBoss has had many issues in the past (because Red Hat of course wants to advise you to go to the enterprise platform which ain't cheap), but JBoss 5.1 was a rock solid piece of software that I have had zero problems with (after reading the odd forum or two). JBoss 6 builds on top of JBoss 5.1 and provides the full JEE6 web profile; this means it does NOT provide a certified 'full' JEE6 stack yet. This means nothing however as all the services you may need in an enterprise application are already there.
BTW: for simple servlet programming, don't neglect Apache Tomcat. Its a lightweight server that just works.
